smh that's all i can say, like i almost feel like that's overstepping a boundary but whatever i'm sure they're used to sh*t like this?

This kid either has some serious balls or isn't even aware of the boundary she just crossed.

And me being me, I wanna find a deeper meaning to them agreeing and how it relates to their actual relationship. Did they think declining would make people more suspicious, much like how we're already suspicious of the lack of natural bromantic interactions? Did they make awkward faces to make light of what was truly an awkward situation?

I agree with all of this. As much as I'd love for them to be married/non-platonic life partners/whatever, I cringed when I saw this. I'm thinking the kid isn't aware of the boundary at all (and sadly for them, she's not alone)

I also wondered why they agreed too the pose, but I guess with the rapid pace of the M&Gs, it was easier to just comply and make faces than look oppositional (optics, ya know?). They're smart guys and I imagine they talked through as many random/bizarre/awkward scenarios as they could to be prepared. The faces they're making

I'm going to be optimistic and say that this pic won't encourage similar (or worse..) requests since the overwhelming reaction to it on Twitter was pretty negative and will hopefully make other people think twice about trying it. Good old public shaming. I do wonder though if they turn down requests (or just intentionally mangle them) if they're uncomfortable. I just feel bad looking at that picture for so many reasons and am thankful there's only a day left of this tour. I'd be so excited to get back to a life where people aren't touching and squishing my face for an hour a day, ugh.

She trapesied across the boundary. I'm also curious on wtf was going on in their heads and why they didn't refuse. Heart eyes is one thing, a proposal is another. Analyzing their facial expressions they have their persona faces on so I'm sure they made light of an awkward ask but what in trying to wrap my head around is why they didn't refuse?? This doesn't exactly scream platonic bros in any sense and it's bothering me.

This! I really hope it doesn't encourages any more of this behavior.
This M&G made me much more aware (not like I wasn't before) of just how draining all of this must be for them.
Also, I'm feeling way more forgiving that they took the days off for themselves instead of doing a live show.
At least the USA leg of the tour is almost over, I'm excited about Mimei and Duncan being there, I feel like Deppy is going to have a great time at vidcon.

I've heard stories from M&Gs where they've rejected poses in their signature indirect, "polite" way, such as pretending to misinterpret the request to fit their comfort zone or casually suggesting an alternative (kinda like the recent airport vid where the chick went in for a hug and Phil said "group hug" I'm still laughing). Yeah, I'm guessing it was much trickier to turn this one down and in the heat of the M&G moment, it was easier to play along.

If they haven't prepared responses to these sorts of uncomfortable scenarios yet, I'm sure that's on the agenda tonight (b4 post-show secks amirite?)

Definitely. Even if she didn't go in for the kiss, it must have looked like it from a distance, yet no one intervened.

What annoys me with m&g photos is the effort/attempt of those people to one up other people's m&g photos. What is wrong with "normal" photo? I know the m&g ticket is expensive but does it really make them entitled to cross boundaries? I mean D&P already talks and hugs them.

Posting my two cents:
1. The girl in the picture looks very young and she probably doesn't know the boundaries quite yet. I'm not saying that all younger fans don't know boundaries, some actions from older fans are sometimes crossing the boundaries.

2. This is a business. For example, you pay the cash in return take a picture and sign something of yours. Part of the meet and greet is to make their fans happy, happy fans bring in more revenue. Plus, these happy excited fans dropped a 100 or so each for a picture, signature and a mere fraction of their time. It would be off putting to the other fans in line to hear, "Oh sorry we can't do that." Plus happy fans bring in more revenue, this is a business obviously.

I mean the boys have turned down poses before but we're dwindling down to the last shows, maybe they're just rolling with it?

She also said on Twitter it was a "joke" (I'm a joke, it's a joke, everything's a joke) but I can't help to think that if this was switched (with Dan doing the pretend jokey kiss and her trying to look like he's avoiding as much physical contact as possible in the way he is) how it would have caused an uproar. I dunno, I guess we need to wait for the full video to come out as one photo doesn't always give context.

i also have some interesting news (?) i found out about the tatinof documentary. a friend of mine has a father that will work in an expo hall booth at vidcon so she was able to hang out inside today. she was at the youtube red booth and saw this:
