As a dedicated Australian Eurovision fan who's not quite dedicated enough to get up at 5am and watch it live I've been offline all day to avoid spoilers, but I wanted to say I've never been more happy to be proved wrong!

How lovely that 1. dnp had a luxurious couples trip to Miami with Martyn and Cornelia and 2. Dan is still in Florida with the Lesters I was sceptical that Dan would stay and kept my expectations low, but damn Phil inadvertently referring to Dan as family in his tweet and Dan making sure to get Phil's arm in his pic is just :') I hope they are having a lovely time as a family in Florida

Also that tweet from wirrow was really sweet, and also also - I love how excited Dan gets for Eurovision and he has good Eurovision opinions (and as an Australian omg I'm so embarrassed by the guy who flashed his ass, but it also was kind of iconic).

Haha I'm a sort-of Aussie in the same boat, who's just come back online to see that Deppy have gone and been adorable in my absence. "All my family" PHIL DO YOU WANT ME DEAD. And Wirrow's tweet! Going to go catch up on the thread now, and blog Eurovision memes.

wow i'm offline for two days and you guys solve the #drahamas, find out about a cute couples vacation, phil calls dan his family, and wirrow makes everyone emotional. did i miss something? i think i've had more feelings in the last 30 mins than in the entire rest of the week, but i'm pleased. and jealous about that apartment jfc i also hope dan was trolling with "phil and i" and his tweet has now miraculously cured everyone from spamming the ls chat with it every time.

[offtopic]was anyone else really rolling their eyes @the "acceptance speech" at eurovision because i think something inside me died a bit. (spoiler in case someone wants to still watch it and you could probs guess which song i'm talking about)

I was watching some videos of Dan and Phil meeting fans and I was wondering if anyone has any theories/ideas as to why Dan does the thing where he has one hand on the fans shoulder so they don't come too far in. I've always noticed it but never quite thought about whether or not there was a reason for him doing it (to keep himself seperated from the person slightly? idk)

I think it's probably because Dan himself doesn't want tight hugs, and there are fans who would be likely to just latch on tight - but also possibly good media training. Phil often does a version of the same thing, or he hugs with both arms but leans in with his upper body only. With a definite distance between them, it's a good way to make sure that no one thinks Dan or Phil (as adult men) are enjoying being close to young girls/women in any kind of inappropriate way.

Yeah that's a good idea. I think Phil's just looks more natural in comparison to Dan (he's an awkward guy though, what can I say). I've seen a couple of instances where he doesn't mind properly hugging them, but it's only for specific circumstances (he hugged the crying fan properly, so maybe only for emotional cases such as that).

Making sure they're not enjoying being close to young girls/women, wow I'd never thought about it like that (which is slightly ignorant of me really, people can twist anything into looking inappropriate).

I've just been thinking how nice everything is right now. I love their current approach on everything. No confirmations and statements but subtle hints that only those who care enough will pick up on. Like Phil's arm in a photo or Dan in Cornelia's Instagram. All the things they say and do - they truly are family, there's no doubt about that. I'm so happy for them and very jealous

I'm sorry but I am so confused. i thought the Bahama's thing was a joke. I heard that there is a restaurant at Universal that will print you fake tickets to whatever location you want, and that was why he acted like he magically teleported there and back. Why is there talk of a real Bahama's trip?

I'm pretty sure there is less support for a restaurant at Universal that does that, than there is it being a real trip. The plane ticket Dan showed matched up with accurate flight times for the airline he would have been on for that day, and the passport he showed was a UK passport with the right stamp and date for his entry into the US as well as his entry into the Bahamas. Dan also told us he was there for two hours, when someone asked how the Bahamas were.

If there was a restaurant that did that, I doubt they'd go to that level of detail for every single customer eating there - plus, there's no sign of anyone else at Playlist or even in the general Orlando area producing similar looking passport + tickets.

So yep I'd say he really went.

personally think he did it because he knew people would freak out and he likes to fuck with us, but also because he knew he'd be at the wizarding world of harry potter in universal later and he wanted to be able to set up that apparating joke .

So Dan made the Bahamas trip just to extend his visa; so I guess he made the decision to join the Lester holiday late and did not made the visa arrangements to extend earlier.

I thought he may have said it cos he's just letting us know about a funny thing that happened, especially since it was real as we discovered after all the hoohah so not even a joke after all, which I thought was hilariously and sadly ironic given how he was quickly accused of lying. But yes, watching us all try to work it out is the most likely explanation really. The more I think about it, though, the less I want to judge him like that so easily. Also idek
