every other week or so I try and watch his liveshow…but most of the time I just can't get through the whole thing! Today as well, I had to mute him a couple of times or just close the tab and take a break for a couple of minutes. He's just so annoying sometimes, for lack of a better word, and I can't even explain why, but for some reason I couldn't listen to him talking about his new video. And I love him, I really do!
I enjoyed the Harry Potter and La La Land talk, would have loved more of that, I'm also not a big fan of time travel plots (unless really really really well done ones, but they're rare)..

and what did he want to say about his earrings??

also, I don't believe for one minute that he would have made a sidechannel unboxing vid…"alfie got there first" my ass!

Didn’t really care for the ls at the beginning, but really liked it towards the end.
- Lots of talk about his vid.
- I love how they think it's weird that Lego gave them something each instead of just giving them one thing to share. Married af.
Also nice to hear that the things they don’t want/need goes to a charity shop.
- Seemed like they got Hamilton tickets.
- Dan looks good in red.
- Wow he played a bit of piano.
- I enjoyed the Pokémon talk.
- Dan and Phil will go to VIDCON LA, but probably nowhere else. Because apparently he has already done Australian and Europe. Because it seems like Europe is now reduced to just three cities. Good to know. :sideeye:
- Enjoyed hearing him talk about the HP play.
- Dan is now crushing on Albus.
- The terrarium story was cute, and just reaffirmed to me that I need a Phil in my life.
- Dan talked a lot about death and dying this live show.
- Wow now I really think that they are planning on moving this year. :D
- Also excited for the upcoming gaming vids.

not a bad liveshow. glad he liked the cursed child, the script was utter shit, but i'm sure the stage show was amazing, albus/scorpius are the best, too bad it has such a limited availability, i mean what? go to the uk to watch it? sure, haha! /not bitter.
same feelings about sherlock tbh, to me the series went downhill after season 2 and never recovered. the whole TLJC reaction that happened after the ending tho... these people need an intervention. you were not 'promised' or 'hinted at' anything, there was no "conspiracy", stop blaming 'gay dad' (ugh) for not making your ship canon when you were told repeatedly that it's not going to happen.

lol at his reaction to the yuri on ice question. "THE SHIT'S OVER". tell them, dan.

i DO wonder if he knows what storage means in the phandom or he never went that deep. by the way, is that a thing on tumblr/twitter? or is it just an idb thing? you're my only source of deppy info, i (thankfully) have no idea what's going on in other parts of the phandom.

I wanted him to elaborate more on the "life things" that they were going to be focusing on.

I liked today's live show- it's interesting that he said he was more aware because of the ls streaming to YouTube because it didn't really come across that way. He shared quite a bit this live show- about his introvert tendencies, how stressed he was, the cute story about Phil telling him to take it easy and then laughing together when his terrarium broke

Also, loved the nerd Pokemon talk.

My favorite part of the liveshow, from around 14:30 of the youtube version:
Dan wrote:"Sometimes I forget that this sense of humor, this whole like, sarcastic all the time, self-deprecating, openly-laugh-at-all-of-your-mental-health-problems - which is a good thing that shows that we're all about being real with our problems, because some people say oh it can't be good for you, being all joking about yourself all the time, but I think it's the complete opposite. The people with these self-aware, self-depracating sense of humors - just think about it, what does it say? If you can joke about your problems in a way that some people feel like 'am I allowed to laugh at this?' what this shows is that you're aware that you have issues, you acknowledge them, and you don't let them define you, and you're willing to talk about them and find them funny, and it's actually a very healthy attitude."
This is what I wish the conversation in phandom was about; I wish this kind of nuance was more readily present in the discourse around him. I see far too much about whether Dan's joking or whether he's serious, whether he's hurt or whether he's not bothered by anything and it always seems to come down to how sincere he's being vs how much is fabricated for humor. But I love that Dan himself is laying it out there: yes, actual problems, but yes, actually laughing.

is it just me that got the impression that he genuinely got stressed out at a point towards the end of the ls.
he lost his train of thought and seemed like he was avoiding reading the chat? especially when talking about not wanting to know some things.

Dan played piano (just a little bit, but when was the last time? this is historical), wants to try the adidas jacket/curly hair/hat/"one earring like Troye and Connor" look, talked about laughing for hour with Phil and is getting more storage (i don't have the exact quote but wasn't it something similar to "thinking about ways to live and have enough storage to keep all this random crap / things"). In my opinion this was a good live show and I'm living

I got the opposite impression, I thought he had a really positive energy about him. There was lots of laughter, lots of volunteering information, not as much fidgeting. he might have avoided reading the chat, but I think that's because he was trying to sort out what he wanted to say in his own mind. He tends to rely on reading the chat to fill gaps when he's out of things to say himself.

The parts at the end felt very poignant to me. Hefty inclusion of Phil in his "we" statements - things like "2016 was a crazy year for me and phil, we want this year to be a lot more chill" and
"we're just going to do some life things" and ""find out if there's a better way to live and have loads of crap at the same time."

(Okay, the more I think about it, the more there's a lot about this liveshow I loved.)

That was a good liveshow, nice to have ten minutes longer for him to keep rambling on, by goodness he talks fast when he gets going, it amazes me he thinks of coherent things to say so quickly.

He looked pretty enough in that white and grey marbley tshirt with his wavy hair, then the red jacket too. Shame he's not going to wear it, it really suits him.

Piano was nice to hear too, want to go over there and frown at him when he won't accept a compliment. Funny how he responded to the person insulting him too, he can't win.

I'm not sold on him, probably just joking, that he wants death. Does he not have anything to live for? I've been so happy and calm lately that I've been making a few things happen that I'd been trying to do, feeling like I was waiting to begin, and I'm glad to, in theory, still have 30+ years to do them in. It's sad to hear someone young and with loads going for them even joking like that (I've been very aware of mortality since my dad died in 2015, all of a sudden it's looming like "if I don't write or draw the thing I was working on before I stalled, life will just go and it won't ever happen").

not sure if i caught this moment right, but i thought this was funny: he said that his hair 'didn't want to be straight' and ppl started saying that they loved his hobbit hair, then there was a comment 'just like you' and i still wonder if that person in the chat meant "love your hobbit hair just like you" or "your hair doesn't want to be straight just like you"

Ok great live show- i love Dan. It's funny that people are finding him more bearable (lol) in live shows lately.
Important:
At around 17 minutes, Dan is talking about how his hair just doesn't want to be straight, and then I think he said "insert jokes".
Tell me if I'm wrong, but was that a gay joke?

i loved this part as well, together with how comfortable with himself he seemed while explaining it, and i wholeheartedly agree with the point you made as well as with what dan was saying in the first place. if not everything is meant to be taken in a literal way, or out of context, or as completely factual and not exaggerated, that doesn't mean it's not coming from a genuine place or is "made up".

For me, I felt so many different emotions from him in one liveshow. I genuinely enjoyed sitting in my bed, with my blanket and a drink and my headphone (rip me) plugged into my laptop (I could have sworn Dan was watching me through the screen when he was describing that) watching him discuss so many things that he's not opened up to before. I found sometimes he seemed really energetic, then at some points I felt he seemed a bit stressed and then some parts were sarcastic. All of these things though make for a really enjoyable liveshow for me. He is able to draw me in when he is passionate about things and him opening up about his mental health was very interesting to me. I would really like to go into more detail but there was so much to absorb that I feel I need to rewatch it and take notes from it.

One bit that I can't seem to stop thinking about though is his reasoning for not changing his Facebook profile photo because he knows people will just leave comments on it. I didn't know how to take that and tbh it made me feel a bit bad for him. I think I need to watch it back properly though for context. Interested to know other people's opinions on that bit though.

That bit actually puzzled me too. I thought at first that he meant people will mock it, but i think he also said people will turn it into a thing (or something along those lines) and i just figured he meant he has not changed it yet because it's a big deal to people (it becomes iconic or a meme) so he needs to think about it carefully?

wtf? am i doing analyzing Dan's ls, this forum got to me. i'm more into Phil, phil phil!
