He looks so good in that pic! I’m also super excited, he’s been following so many comic book artist so I’ve been thinking for a while that some kinda graphic novel was coming! Maybe his project will be coming out soon!

So ominous, maybe Phil’s project is a comic book (it was recently speculated that Dan’s was because of some follows, though I never saw the follows myself.) blahblahblah beat me to it!

I don't get this at all, but my first thought was "Phil, stop being a workaholic!"

Ha, welp just wait and see I guess.

(also, this is probably what Dan was hoping to do last week -- drop merch and then a project announcement soon after)

Do you mean that you think they have similar or linked projects, or just that this format is how Dan wanted to drop something and they happened to have separate projects coming to fruition at the same time?

I wish Phil Lester stepped on me with his clown feet and his Nasa shoes that Dan got him

Also I've been totally calling an animated show/ graphic novel as his project and this is the perfect hint™ move over people, going to Susbitches Hill for the winter hols

I am very intrigued by the new look and slogan, I wonder what's to be continued?
Also, has anyone noticed the post on Phil's tumblr? It has links to worldwide and USA stores and then under the pic it has the amazingphil shop crossed out. It still works but ??? :sideeye:

Am I the only person who gets anxiety from speculation? LOL. I do not like surprises, I like to read the end of the book first. Phil, my king, what are you doing?

I don't watch Jacksepticeye, but I do know from seeing stuff on Tumblr that he has some sort of whole alternate personality, right and there's some sort of "glitching" involved in that? For some reason, this makes me think of that.

(And Jude, I meant in my earlier post that maybe Dan had a separate project that was going to drop in the same way Phil is doing here.)

Thanks!

Also, tying in with the amazingphil shop being crossed out...rebranding?

I thought the link crossed out was just part of the glitch aesthetic. I hope he doesn’t drop AmazingPhil, though whatever he’s happy with really.

I agree, I think it's just the aesthetic!

I am hyped for this project! Phil is so creative (as evidenced by his early 2008-era YouTube videos) and I'd love to see some proper writing from him, especially now that he has the Connections™ and money to make this professional.

Yep and it reminds me of maddoxrider’s Virus Phan AU. I’m just reblogging all that art over on Tumblr. I don’t think Phil’s project will drop this year, but if this merch is a teaser for it, I’m very excited.

itasca00 wrote: Thu Nov 07, 2019 7:47 pm Susanisnotafish, I haven't received my Dandles yet, but I got a shipment notification the day after I placed my order. I should note that I placed my order with the worldwide shop because it was cheaper, and I've anecdotally heard about problems with the timeliness and correctness of orders placed with the US shop. Also, in the off-chance you had a hoodie in your order, your entire order won't ship until 11/11 at the earliest.
Update: My Dandles arrived today, and I absolutely love them! My only disappointment is that they weren't packed in the shipping box very carefully, so the candle boxes are all slightly damaged. At least the candles themselves are no worse for the wear! Strangely enough, the scent of the candles is extremely familiar to me. I was raised Catholic, and the candles smell exactly like the incense used in my childhood church for Christmas masses. I have to say that I'm rather amused by the accidental metaphorical significance of having a black candle called "My Soul" made by Dan that gives off a scent with strong religious undertones.

I don't know if it's a decision from IRL or from the UK post or from the French post or if it's always this way, but my package was labelled as "Responsible Delivery - CO2 Neutral" and I'm very happy about it. I don't remember seeing it on my previous merch packages.
My package was not marked that way, so I guess it's not a universal thing.

On the topic of Phil writing something: I know it could be many different things that he has been working on, but what examples of his writing do we have? The only things I've read are TABINOF and his newsletters, and I don't love the writing style in either of those, with the caveat that those of course are tailored for a specific purpose and are both pretty casual too. I think I'm just nervous now about what he might be writing because I want the writing to be good and man, I can be a pretty big critic when it comes to writing. Like, I really wanted to love Hank Green's novel but his writing style just kept getting in my way of the enjoyment of the story. I know writing is subjective, but please god, let Phil have an ace editor.

Well, at the very least he's aware of punctuation, amirite?
Joking aside i think if he applied himself he'd be very good at writing, aside from his academic background (which gives you some training even though it's been years), making videos takes some kind of writing process, which of course is not the same as writing a novel. And if he were to write a comic or graphic novel, i think it'd be a great middle ground to explore his creativeness and quirkiness.

It had been brought to my attention that The Hand also ended with 'To be continued...'

Phil. Phil, no.

Phil's sense of humor now seems less zany than it was even a year ago. I'm very curious what kind of story he plans to tell and how he plans to tell it. From what I can tell the artist of the anime-esque Phil on the shirt hasn't created comic books before, so it's unclear what format Phil will be working in.

Actually, I could see him making one of those 'Choose Your Own Adventure' books--or whatever the modern version of that is. The II simulation had those branching paths, as did the 'Which chair are you?' quiz Phil made and the interactive adventure videos he used to make.

I can only really think of his fanfic in Tabinof which I didn’t love, but if he’d taken out the silly bits, he wrote very straightforward and not flowery, which I like vs loads of descriptive waffling. He has a way with words in things like the newsletters, though.

I also haven’t got far with Hank Green’s book, the style is a bit brash sometimes, it threw me off. Then there’s Chris Colfer’s interesting adjectives breaking flow every five seconds :sideeye:

THE HAND! That's what I was thinking of earlier. To be honest, I thought that Dan's fanfic seemed better written, for what it was, than Phil's, which I found awkwardly constructed etc. However, I think that he'd be great with a graphic novel,.
