This might be a bit reach-y, but if we were going to make this about phan, it could be about Dan seeing a vid of Phil with one of his exes (Charlie?) and it making reminding him of the way Phil is with him. And then the 'you never really stop loving someone' is him worrying about that.

Maybe he saw the 'Phil and Charlie at the zoo' video - I mean, it's not there now but we know it was real because tweets exist with the link still. I assume in late 2009 that video was still online. I don't think Phil was actually in love with Charlie but I think insecure 2009 Dan might have still been upset by Phil and Charlie's interactions, and seeing a video like that.

I don't think it's in the DD, unfortunately. I haven't seen it either so I have no idea what the tone of the video even is... I'm assuming just a vloggy day out type thing. But who knows? (Like, seriously, if anyone knows, I'm curious.)

It wasn't at all like my initial D&P (ok, actually Dan, then Phil) foray: they drew me in after watching just one of their videos, and had me digging through their content like proper trash in no time.

I think there's just a difference in what kind of audience someone like Lilly gets compared to Dan and Phil. Lilly doesn't inspire a fandom, but she also doesn't really need to. Lilly makes good, solid, funny videos on a regular basis (twice a week) that people can rely on for entertainment. It's a bit like pewdiepie - not everyone needs a fandom around them to succeed.

And, as Dan and Phil prove, it works the other way around - not everyone needs a regular upload schedule and abundant ideas.

I'm curious because we've all seen old tweets and formed opinions on them, but does anyone have context from being a part of the community themselves? I'm an avid phan shipper but I know that tweets are very easy to fake. It'd be interesting to know what people who were fans in the early days thought of deppy's interactions with each other/the world. Yup he was cute and very just real or something. I kinda have a feeling that the change began even before he met Dan. Maybe because his audience was growing he got more aware he was actually addressing bigger crowds when filming or something. Don't know, I have no idea how fast/slow he was getting popular back then or when did he started to get aware of that numbers. 1)I'll confess, saw by mistake voldy for the first time (seriously thought there would be a troll song) a few days ago (also don't think it is anything new but it was removed due to ap), but the vibe that it gave me has me always more agnostic
With that said, Louise would never say anything regarding be that they are togheter or one of them has a partner, she learned from her past rumored mistakes and possibly was told to ignore the issue and this is what she did imo.

I don't think Louise lost the video footage, I think she was asked to wait until they got back from the US so they could edit/approve it perhaps? YouTube is her job, would she really lose something that would get her at least a million views? I wouldn't be surprised if in a fortnight we get a "ooh I've found the memory card! New vid tomorrow!" I don't think they have a secret BF/gfs because it would be so awkward. They would have to live in their basement or something and never could go outside. Also it would be like "oh me and Phil are going to Japan for 2 weeks bye!" and that would be weird. Also the way Dan and Phil act with each other isn't very platonic, and I'm sure their gf/bf would be uncomfortable.
