ananas, not really sure what your point is if i'm honest -- the criticism of nanalew's statements was mainly centered around her statements regarding marriage equality and homophobia, not around her being a bad person for voting conservative. apart from that, i disagree with the notion that anyone targeted by a person's discriminating views is under any obligation to get into a dialogue (talk to them + not ignore them) with them. you're free to subscribe to her channel if you're not bothered by her views, but other people are also free not to consume any of her content because they are very much bothered by it.

onetruetrash if it starts at 9pm london time, that should be in pretty much exactly 4 hours!

edit: sorry to have brought this discourse to the top of the page especially since the it has moved on while i was typing.

I got a little too excited, and said a little too much :? This forum is about dan and phil after all..back to the topic!

I'm looking forward to the live show today! Let's hope the connection is better than in the joint live show! Maybe Phil will show a little bit more of the apartment

Google 'what time is it in London' and based on the answer, figure out how long until it's 7pm there, and that's the amount of time you have to wait until Phil's liveshow.
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

It's cool, you are right! I'm not really "educating" myself with these videos, but I find them interesting. I will remain level-headed on these topics :platonic:

If the liveshow starts at 7 pm London time, here it would start at 9 pm.. But it's different in every timezone :)

It was actually a coalition government between Tories and Lib Dems. Also, I really wouldn't say that Conservatives have the best track record with LGBTQ+ rights.

Don't take that as my opinion or anything, please. I'm just trying to be objective!

Anyway, re: Shawna & homophobia: I believe that Shawna isn't a bad person, but simply misled. She, as far as I can tell, shows no actual vitriol towards LGB+ people, but rather is blindly following a 2000 year old book. So stupid, perhaps, and I'd say homophobic, but not out of hate of the people but rather following some arbitrary rulebook. In my opinion, as long as you believe same-sex couples should have the same legal rights as opposite-sex couples (so at least civil partnership/union, as shitty as an alternative for marriage equality as that is), I won't judge you as a person even if I disagree.

P.S. plath, would you mind explaining what makes you think Phil voted/votes Conservative? I'd be surprised, honestly. He never came across to me as that sort of person.

I've quoted below onetruetrash responding to it. Captainspacecoat has also discussed it on the previous page. I'm literally just repeating what people on here have said before.

Also, I'm aware it was the conservative/lib dem coalition, but the conservatives were in charge at that time. In no way shape or form did I suggest that the conservative party have an excellent record on LGBT rights. I personally am not a fan of them or their policies but facts are facts and they DID turn labour's civil partnerships into equal marriage.

This is why I don't like talking about politics. I'm not going to be responding to any more posts on this topic.

A while back, someone, I think it was jaej, said they once had Charlieskies as a friend on Facebook and someone asked Charlie why he voted Conservative and he said he only did it because Phil did. But I think they also said that that conversation took place in 2010, so who knows about now?

(it was really nice to see my post be recieved positively. Every time I throw words out there I have this little back and forth dance of deleting it right after because I'm afraid of coming across too strongly like I'm preaching a gospel truth or just being a flat out dick. which I think I was a bit in my last post replying to capybansta on the topic of fitness and health. I'm very sorry about that... Add to that the fact there's an entire group of people on here who have more relevant and interesting ideas to point out that round out the topic in a better way and I generally feel more comfortable quietly reading all the varying opinions and learning more before saying anything. But just like I said before about how, for me personally, Dan's empathy and compassion was refreshing to see, it's equally refreshing to see conversations revolving around such sensitive topics being carried out so openly and diplomatically on all sides.)

Also, Phil LS today. I'm buckled in and ready to hear about Nasa, tiny ice creams and too many ant friends. and whatever else he'll talk about as I enjoy hearing him go on about his adventures.

I feel like this a lot, hence why i've not said a lot on here yet. so many opinions!! i learnt so much about topics but also just about dealing with differing opinions just from the couple of weeks of being on here.

I also agree 100% on PHIL'S DOING A LIVESHOW, god i missed them so so so much, i love liveshows, i am unbearably excited
of course i was so happy for them about their holiday but i am also happy to have them back, they make me smile

edit: also i love joint ls's as much as the next person, but i can't deny that i really missed their individual ones. they have their individual styles when they're doing them alone and i enjoy that so much.

it was killing me not to talk as it happened so i dragged myself out of my comfy cocoon to talk on my ipad.

i'm surprised no one has mentioned him flying alone yet. i felt for him in the awkward french lady story, but how much sooner did dan leave then? did they do it to be more stealthy at the airport as they wouldn't come across as dan and phil™ but just some tall emo dudes? any other theories as to why they'd do this?

or maybe as it's been discussed before, dan didn't initially plan to stay for exactly as long as phil, maybe he planned to stay (because visa) but only for a little while before flying back, which would fit his liveshow comments about alone time from before florida. and then he did end up staying much longer, but obviously had to book a new flight? that's what i explained his comment with in my head

It was nice to have a Phil live show again, though it was way too short.
I enjoyed Phil telling us his side of the border control story.
Seems like Dan did leave Florida earlier than Phil.

This makes sense though.
Phil I love you, but you aren’t good at pranking. Though I appreciate you trying.
Phil is maybe going back to Sundays (keep an eye on his twitter) for his live shows. Still sticking to 40 min. length ones though.
A new Dan and Phil shop newsletter coming soon (probably even tonight). Though from what Phil was telling us I don’t think we will be getting real new merch.

It was weird hearing Phil talk about the space center since I live so close to it. Sometimes I forget I live near world famous things even if I don't live in what you would call a "big city".

Also rip phil's mug

I've missed him so much This one was nothing special or groundbreaking but very relaxing, which is what I love about Phil's ls. The noise thing confused me though, what was that about? As far as I remember we just laughed and didn't make any noises. At least not coordinated ones that everyone did. So weird! :wtf:

Ahhhh so nice to have a new Phil live show. Looks like the holiday has been good for him, he seemed really relaxed and happy, even if he was still a bit jetlagged. Interesting about him flying home but I did wonder if Dan had come back earlier in the week because of him mentioning that he was originally planning to do a live show on the Tuesday.

The ummmmm noise thing was so funny - reminded me of my school days many many many years ago where we did the ummm noise if someone did something bad

He kept very low key about the Shawna collab which is exactly how I thought he'd deal with it.

Since no one mentioned it yet and I thought people who didn't watch the LS might wanna know:
Phil said he'd upload his video with that girl whose name I already forgot next week, probably Wednesday, and that it's also anime-themed.
