Actually, I think Dan was smart to hint ahead of time that it would be spon because no one had high expectations at all. Maybe they should apply that to DAPG spon. Just, casually say a week ahead of time that they're promoting something soon.

The Haru thing has been brilliant from start to finish. My fave running gag in Dan's liveshows. Glad he put an end to it and finally acknowledged Haru before it got old - the execution was perfect. Dan u big troll ilu.

Also I'm totally gonna start watching anime again now. Been meaning to ever since I found Dan and Phil and heard them talking about interesting-sounding ones in liveshows but I never got around to it, but now that there's a literal VIDEO of him giving recommendations I don't see how I couldn't. Ty Dan, I'll be down in the comment section peer pressuring you to update that side channel more often. (Forever wanting him to retell and film the story of meeting Josh Barrowman on a plane because that story's glorious, 10/10 would rewatch again and again.)

Been wondering that too. But I think it's something they must have talked about, considering it's been going on for so long now. Interestingly, one of the first REALLY explicit mentions was made by them together, as a team, and early on too. This was definitely me when I was still a casual Youtube fan. Assuming someone's straight because they haven't said otherwise is heteronormative, but then again assuming someone's gay because they "act it" also feels gross (+ how do I know it's not just clickbait?) I know I used to err on the side of taking the youtuber's personal word for it, because that felt respectful or whatever, but having been around for a while now and watched all of the comings out I've very much moved camp and started to rely on my gut feeling instead, because lmao.

I really enjoyed the danisnotinteresting video, it was very natural and informal and I really liked the layout of it. I agree with you that it was a nice balance between the liveshow and his main videos. I enjoyed the DINOF video too but I just loved he made a side channel video to go with it. Having watched both of them it made me much more interested in watching an anime than it would have if he had only uploaded the first video. I like watching him talk about things he is passionate about. He has such a good way of explaining things and making you want to take an interest in them.

I'm glad to see his sketches making a return, I love this style of DINOF videos. The haru part was just something else, anyone else already looking forwards to the liveshow and him haruing all the questions about it?

shame he uploaded this so late Sunday night because I want to sit and watch some anime now but it's almost 1am and I have work tomorrow, Friday night would have meant I could have fully binge watched a whole season of something

As much as I hate the word 'gaydar' I think the vibes that you get from people can say a lot, especially in real life vs over the internet. It's like video chatting with someone rather than meeting up with them... there's just something from their personality that you miss out on when hanging out digitally. Even just meeting them for a few seconds can sort of fill in some gaps of their personality that weren't there before.

Dan's new video, man even though it was a spon, it was sketchier than his previous videos and i really ended up enjoying it! there were so many wardrobe changes i was in heaven

Omg I loved these videos. I'm a huge anime and cartoon nerd. The Cowboy Bebop part in the anime recs vid made me very happy. Everything he said is so true. UGGHH I love that show so much (hence my avatar)

I generally agree with most of what he recommended except for Sword Art Online.. bleh

I hadn't heard of Erased before but it sounds pretty good so I might try it

I hope I will soon lose the alarm bell (the years of shows have left their scars) (but I think I will never acquire a gut feeling, my gut feeling always fails me irl, but I wish, I wish so much!)

it took me some time to come back to life after my death over that #Daru thumbnail and sketch.

Loved loved LOVED the DINI video, he was so into it, passionate and cute. Amazing. (plus the "Phil stamp of approval" had me awww, i had to take a moment between this and the cute boys in speedos)

Liked the DINOF video. Thank god for the come-back of sketches and like I said the Haru and the "abs and angst" literally killed me. Amazing! Dan in that Youtube varsity jacket also killed me Can't say i am super interested in anime or anime culture so I didn't adore the video like some of you, but it was nice.

Really though, it was him coming out on his main channel right?
