Usually there's a driver and a tour guide with these kinds of tours, no? Not saying it's not possible that it was only one driver and that's it, but I'm just used to having a tour guide and a driver.

So I rewatched. Kinda anyway, I skipped through everything that bored me. As always, Dan's liveshows drain me of energy... I always come out of them with a worse mood than how I started. Oh well. I have to accept that my relationship with Dan's liveshows is complicated.

Like in Phil's ls, there were again very little tour stories. He says it's the biggest things he's ever done and that he missed liveshows because of the connection he has with the audience during those, yet he's unwilling to share anything about the big thing that made him miss the liveshows in the first place. This is why people are feeling disconnected from them tbh. I hope it's not because they wanna squeeze more money out of it by releasing this shit as a book or something but... If they get shit over it again like last time I ain't feeling sorry for them.

Not getting too much into the political stuff, but I do find it strange that on the rare occasion where Dan does offer a little bit of an opinion he tends to focus on International/USA stuff instead of the UK/EU. And not just now with Brexit either. He has openly supported Bernie Sanders, but mostly stays mute on UK politicians. A bit US centric? Afraid his audience won't be able to relate? I'm intrigued.

I love that they watched Fruits Basket. The manga is better imo and went on for far longer than the anime so I always recommend that instead, but the anime is still cute and funny. I hope they continue to watch more 'old' stuff and not just recent shows. There are so many 90's/00's gems.

[offtopic]This is so off topic but I watched the pilot of Bates Motel tonight after Dan and Phil both raved about it and Jesus I honestly could have used a trigger warning... The first episode contains a stomach-turningly violent rape scene. It was so awful and brushed aside so swiftly that I had to turn the show off and I don't think I'll be returning to it. Just a heads up in case anyone on here was also interested in watching it.[/offtopic]

First, thanks so much Lain for the link!

Just watched the liveshow and I really enjoyed it, especially the length. I like "chill" Dan. At the end he just seemed very sweet and truly appreciative of everything. I understand all the reasons Dan gave for not giving opinions and respect him for it. I think Dan does share some of his opinions, but he isn't explicit. He's very subtle and you have to read between the lines. (of course, that leaves things open to interpretation, kind of like their relationship). I'm still phan af

Thought it was very interesting that they are trying to continue the tour past Australia. Did I understand him correctly that the tour was underwritten by crunchyroll?

Re: "tourguidegate" - I do think he was probably referring to the tram driver, although that doesn't answer the gender question. #ambiguiousdan

Thank you so very much for the warning!! I will definitely NOT be watching. I'm sure I'm just overly sensitive, but I really can't watch cruelty. I love , but I don't understand the attraction to all the gory violence they seem to watch. And it's such a juxtaposition to who they seem to be. They seem more like fluffy kittens and rainbow unicorns. Different strokes I guess . . .

I think they both have really dark humor but tend to brush it under the rug because of their highly impressionable audience. Watch child Phil's horror movie! It was such a gory, dark movie and it was made when he was a child, then The Game as a teen, then his obsession with Stephen King novels. Dan is a soft cupcake compared to Phil, Phil's just better at not letting it show.

Liveshow thoughts...meh. I never tend to like Dan liveshows because they seem a bit to waffly for me to handle. I'm team #dick aka Nick and Dan because he always acknowledges dick as the ship name so he probably automatically went there. I'm glad he acknowledged things like #blacklivesmatter and #brexit but like the #LoveWins tweet he was very careful in not making an opinion or choosing a side but instead just addressing it the vaguest terms possible. Atleast he acknowledged it so... Also I'm not sure what to make of the "tour guide" comment. I agree with swofro that it was a "awww they were adorable I'm in love with them" but even then if he's in a relationship (with Phil ) isn't it awkward or straining to hear your partner constantly talk about their crushes and make sexual comments towards others?? The "enter me Troye" one was the weirdest from Dan but he's had others. Maybe Phil understands that this is Dan's was of coming out and is okay with it but These two are making my turn blurry.

Anyway he looked good in his Gator hat and he kept his Kanye fangirling to one mention and even though he never addressed his problematic tweet he didn't elaborate on the video so yay 8-)

Pretty sure it's sponsored by them, their logo is on the selfie backdrops. But only insurance company's can underwrite so I must have missed when he said that, odd wording for him to use and also wrong lol.

tw: this is a typical danphil333 post, everything will be better if you ignore it

The first 30minutes of the liveshow was so fucking boring I think my brain went numb. He didn’t even try not to look like he wanted death more than interacting with his audience (despite what he says). I think he transferred his boredom to me through the screen. :P

I hate the thing he does where he is like “younow/twitter/yt is not the place for proper conversations and opinions” PLEASE  …. Like are you actually doing any of those things? Or using any of those platforms for anything other than memes and kanye. What is the right place then? I agree with him when he says he is not educated enough to discuss some topics properly. I just wish he stopped making it a “thing”. With his video “OPINIONS” he made opinions a “thing” in the phandom like he did with SPOILERS maltesers and llamas.

he acknowledges some things, not giving opinions on them. And then you have the phandom BE like ”dan was throwing opinions left and right, the smartest boy on earth” :sideeye:

Also, i didn’t forget about kanye. He knew what phil said about angry birds and corrected him about 6 times but “who is this kanye you are talking about?”. I see you cowardly avoiding it Daniel.

getting all that out of the way, I actually ….

I actually quite liked the dan of this liveshow   . Yes he was fucking boring and he seemed like he would rather do anything else than a younow, that was nice and “human” of him. I would choose this boring chill dan over the usual performing clown dan anytime.

But lets be real, he was just sick, that is just an anomaly, I am sure the not-boring dan most people prefer will be back next week.

P.S. the 5000000 phil mentions also helped my case :D

And I thought I was the only one with this opinion. I loved this liveshow and this "boring" Dan. He was just his normal self with no overreacting or overplaying and for me it felt like a flashback to his first liveshows where he was just like this.

kinda off topic: i just binge watched all of death parade bc deppy liked it and fuck that was an emotional rollercoaster, ngl the first half was very average, but the last few episodes, fuck, didn't see those feels coming, would recommend

btw in one of the episodes the two people being judged (its about a universe where when people die they get judged and it gets decided whether they get reincarnated or their souls destroyed, just in case any of you didn't catch deppy's explanations of the plot) were a fan and their idol, i spent the whole episode wondering what it was like to watch it from their pov, i'd have killed to be a fly on the wall when they watched that

oh and i personally get their attraction to fucked up fiction, i'd like to think i'm a decent human being too, and although gore doesn't really do it for me i definitely prefer my characters as morally ambiguous and questionable as possible, and that usually comes hand in hand with violence, and i don't mind, i might even have a good time watching it, depending how it's done, i don't think taste in media ever reflects what a person stands for irl as long as they have a working moral compass and know that the things they're watching are wrong

I agree, YouNow is the best platform for him to address things surely. And if not he needs to find a platform he feels comfortable with and use it. It's obvious by now that Dan has Opinions, that Dan wants to express Opinions (even if he feels he shouldn't), and that some of Dan's fans like Opinionated Dan - so he needs to just get over it and get on with it.

Dear Dan,

But I love when Dan makes phandom 'things' it's funny
danphil333 wrote:he acknowledges some things, not giving opinions on them.
I also agree, I need more Deep Waffle Dan, hearing him talk about what music he likes and critcally acclaimed movies is boring to me But I will still watch because I like to hear him talk
danphil333 wrote: Also, i didn’t forget about kanye. He knew what phil said about angry birds and corrected him about 6 times but “who is this kanye you are talking about?”. I see you cowardly avoiding it Daniel.
I agree, he should have addressed it, rather than just implicitly saying 'trust that I have a more complex opinion'. Because now he's on the record as supporting problematic Kanye without any caveats - even though those who pay attention know this is not the full story, everyone else won't. Furthermore, wouldn't that be an interesting thing for him to discuss 'Cowardly' might be a bit strong though
danphil333 wrote:I would choose this boring chill dan over the usual performing clown dan anytime.
I agree I like 'real' Dan. But I also like 'clown' Dan he's funny, I need both. But what you interpret as boredom from him, I interpret as sarcasm and I think 'being normal' can sometimes come across on camera as being boring because things are more one-way in that kind of conversation. But sometimes I think his persona can be a little over the top and I miss 'real' Dan, particularly in liveshows.

Sorry for posting again, I felt like this needed moderation by a lame Dangirl :gg:

I actually love their proclivity for horror movies and weird, dark shit because i, too, LOVE horror movies. i'm in the dan camp of full immersion in them for full enjoyment. in phil's last liveshow when someone asked him for horror movie recommendations and he said "that's an interesting question" i was like YES YES YES tell us everything!! and then he only talked about conjuring 2, which we already knew he'd enjoyed (and which tbh was kind of crap, enjoyable but crap) and then got distracted by something dumb and didn't list any other movies! i was so bummed. it was very dan-goldfish-syndrome-like.
BUT, i am sensitive to depictions of rape and sexual assault, particularly when i've had no warning for them. i went on to read a little bit more about Bates Hotel and sexual assault and it seems they handle the subject clumsily and perhaps gratuitously for the majority of the show. so there's that.
