I noticed this too and my theory is that with all the fan interaction and the tour ... Dan probably feels conflicted by the fact that *relatively* speaking, he seems to be more popular than Phil. It may be quite subtle, but when say.. 7 out of 10 of ppl in the meet and greets start walking up to you first, or if the audience sounds just a tad more enthusiastic and cheer just a little harder at your lines it can all start to add up. Bottom line, it's probably fair to say that Dan has a wider audience and the difference might be noticeable to them.
If i think I understand Dan, he probably feels a bit bad about him stealing a bit more of the spotlight.
I do think when he met Phil and they exchanged those 'sweet editing tips', the relationship was already much broader and Dan genuinely admires Phil, looked (and still looks) to him for friendship, support and as an echo board. i think Dan realizes that he has his Phil to thank for his quick breakthrough into the youtube scene, and that he is very grateful for the encouragement Phil gave him at the time in his life (he just dropped out of college and didn't know what he wanted to do with his life - he said so himself that if it weren't for Phil he might not have made videos)

So i think he feels the need to credit and defend Phil because in his mind he deserves just as much popularity as him and feels that their success was and is intricately linked, and he might get triggered by subtle hints and signs that undermine that equality.

But who knows what's really in those boys heads

The person I was talking to (NarrysCanary) said 'fine bros' in their tweet but this is so funny bc it wasn't '@' them and they stalked the replies to this tweet and figured that we were talking about deppy (we didn't mention their name) just because I have a Phil photo, lol, so lurking indeed.

Nerdy Nummies: I really like Ro and I think they will all have a great dynamic esp Phil because her content is fairly scripted and he always shines in things like that, I can understand how some people really don't like/can't stand her but I'm very excited and I enjoy her videos very much. Twitter got it's annoying as shit stan culture with people who like fake dragging their faves (or dragging other people's faves for real) to prove to others that you're not one of those delulu fans but actually ~savage~, Tumblr got it's equally annoying SJW culture that involves people being all sensitive and dramatic about stuff and trying to be more 'woke' than all their friends so they stick a problematic label on everything (whether they're right or not). Both say and do dumb shit, start rumors and are generally often obnoxious. And often the two melt together because many people use both platforms, so in reality neither is really better or worse than the other. It's not a phandom exclusive 'problem' either it's just how those communities work. They both have their pros and cons, it's down to preference (though a lot of people use both) on how you want interact with a fandom. You solve a lot by following the right people on both and with Tumblr I'd personally avoid the main tags. It's unfair to judge Tumblr by those, you get some pretty daft stuff when you put their names in the search bar on Twitter and click All Tweets as well.

Phil started following her at the same time as he did jacksepticeye so I'm assuming they met at the Summit in New York. Maybe they like her videos? Or just got along quite well? I doubt they asked her though.. I'm sure she's very nice, but add me to the list of people who find her... grating. She's a little bit too much in the few videos I've watched (I've only watched her in collabs with other people I like) so whatever. I mean I'll take what I can get from them, but I don't think it'll be a video I'll be rewatching a bunch. But who knows! At least it's a collab with a format; I think D&P will be more relaxed since they'll have something to do. And yay, a React on Sunday!
