I have to confess that Dan has never been particularly funny to me. That's just a personal taste thing ... Phil has always been more funny to me and I've always wondered why that is? I think it might be because Phil seems more relaxed with who he is more than Dan is and it just comes across better to me.

Anyway ... there is one video of Dans I really liked way back in the day. I think it was the one where he was talking about how articulate he is and how people in school reacted to it. It was a REALLY mean video (which is probably why it's no longer public) but it was also extremely authentic to me. Like it felt like something that could happen in school. To me Dan is at his best when he isn't pretending to be nihilistic/nothing matters (which is much more of a Gen X thing which is my generation) and more just flat out bitchy and acerbic. Which I think is more his lane.

Like I said though, this is coming from someone who doesn't really find Dan to be that funny solo. Now in combination with Phil he is MUCH funnier but that is a whole other kettle of fish than solo Dan.

It's very fun to analyze this. I just happened to rewatch one of Dan's videos from like 11 years ago (the one about fandoms) because I found it in my likes and I think it's how I discovered him. And I remember back then I loved it because that content felt so relatable. A lot of his videos at the time interested me because a lot of what he talked about was relatable and he put in funny skits. And I hope he did those videos because he enjoyed them and it wasn't all just because that's what people liked to watch. I think he's good at telling stories and making them fun.

I think where Phil's humor shines the most is that the funniest things he says are those things he says seemingly without thinking too much. He's a funny weird guy in the best way possible.

As pretty much everyone, I like them best when they're together, because that just makes for the most fun content and it also seems the most genuine. Like I mentioned before, I wasn't too into Dystopia Daily because it tried to be too doom and gloom and "I hate being a youtuber" from Dan, but when you look at the gaming channel, that doesn't seem to be his attitude in reality or he wouldn't be doing it. It just makes for better content when you see them having fun and enjoying themselves.

Also Dan had another book event yesterday, this time in an indie book store in Bath. Seemed like a lovely time, this clip of him talking about their American 'smart' bin was probably the highlight.

Dunno if anyone filmed the whole thing and I haven't looked yet, but if you find it you can post it.

I'm still not quite sure what the hell I watched and was genuinely hesitant to give the video a like because I feared what direction the YouTube algorithm would take me. The way Phil played with Dan's tail was uh.. interesting.

There was a campaign to try and turn the poll results around but yeah it was pretty obviously gonna be Dan. It was probably filmed not long after the poll even got posted too. But who knows. maybe sugar daddy Dragon City will write another cheque for Dan to have his sweet revenge and put Phil in some shiny short shorts.

as much as i try to love phil solo content, i feel like the pace of his videos is a bit fast compared to what seems to work on youtube these days. if he were to make more aita videos, i would love if he took his time reading the story instead of rushing through it and immediately saying a rehearsed reaction. i get that's the old norm but i think if phil wants to continue on amazingphil he'll have to make a decently harsh pivot imo
