I feel like I should finally introduce myself so that it stops feeling like I'm butting in on your discussions out of nowhere. Unlike many of you, I was never a long-time lurker around here because I found this forum, like, two weeks before creating an account.

I was a casual viewer of for about two years before falling into the trash can this spring after getting back to watching YT after a long break. It's hard to pinpoint what actually made me trip over the edge, but I am certainly not complaining.

Random facts:

- Compared to most of you, I come from the North, but here I am considered a Southener. Go figure.

- I love language learning and linguistics and can speak three languages more or less fluently. I have taken courses in several other ones as well, but I lack the commitment to learn them properly because I don't need them in my everyday life and I don't like travelling.

- Despite the aforementioned, I am actually a Sociology student. Fandoms are super fascinating from a sociological point of view, which always adds an extra layer of fun in my own fandom experience.

I studied communication and I definitely agree! Kind of makes me wonder what other "expertises" we have on board here...

Welcome, somethingsketchy! :welcome:

I can't believe there's yet another member into linguistics! If you go through all the various/about-me threads, you'll find that linguistics/language/communication is probably the most mentioned interest/study/career. (One of these days I'm going to do a search for all the mentions! )
