I am actually proud of Dan and Phil for not resorting to #bro behavior during this video. They knew it was going to be ridiculous and they went for it.

I enjoyed the latest video; I hope they do more games that requires them to move about, I find them much more entertaining. Of course it helps when the person I root for wins

Moreover I continue to enjoy their previous lick video as the comments from viewers outside the phandom are more hilarious then the video itself

I still can't get over the video. I've already watched it three times now. I can't seem to nail down which part is my favourite bits, probably because I love the entirety of that video. Phil is right that this feel like Bishi Bashi Special, which is also ome of my favs. I hope they visited this again in the future and in my wildest dream, do best of 7 in zen.

I am also happy Phil win but I also feel sad Dan lose. Deppy vs other team need to happen.

Look at the last years Halloween video and you'll notice a slight change in their behavior/ jokes. They seem more comfortable and at ease, less no homo y. We call it the post baking vid universe bc that's what Dan calls videos after that video in his liveshows.

Lol that Switch video, not sure what to comment on. I was a little uncomfortable watching it, but I am always watching their videos through my fingers for the first time. It was fun though. The lighting wasn't great, wonder why they didn't colour correct it or put on some smoothing effect, as Dan was literally the colour of the wall and Phil was ghostly pale. I guess it's #nofilters #noholdingback2k17

Wow I loved that Switch video! I actually didn't find it cringy at all, and I have a very low tolerance for cringe (still haven't watched TATINOF for that reason lol). I feel like it was the sort of game that brought out their natural bants, and I didn't think that they were trying too hard or anything. I'm so glad Phil won as well, and Dan wasn't obnoxious about losing or anything so it's a win-win all around It was nice to see that lesser seen angle of their lounge room as well, I kept getting distracted looking at their shelves haha

Also eevee I completely agree with your response to their reaction to the vday vid being released, very well said

re: switch video

after some consideration, as I hate not understanding what I feel, I flipped the video back how it should be (100% recommend), braced myself and rewatched it (twice to make sure). Was much better for me like that, I'm beginning to see why so many of you loved it. Still not my favourite video, though, and some things still seem, I don't know, weird is too strong a word, but, for example, Phil at the beginning (1:07), looking straight to the camera and then talking about how funny the videos demonstrating how to play the mini-games are, seems a bit nervous and then, idk, excited? And also obviously looking to Dan for his reaction for some reason (some other things and a brief dicussion under spoiler)

I loved the video!! Thought it was utterly hilarious and I laughed out multiple times. I personally don't understand why some people found it cringey or uncomfortable since to me the jokes were really run of the mill humour and innuendos. In fact it's very typical British humour I think and I was here for it. I should preface this by saying that I do like a lot of brit comedy panels and old school comedies like Blackadder so yeah that might explain why I'm fine with all this stuff.

I really hope they explore the other mini games here because I love some motion videos where they're moving and interacting with the screen and each other.

Some pages back in the previous thread- some posters were asking how we can watch D&P if not for the relationship part of it (in the sense of shipping/phan interaction) and I mean definitely their gameplay alone isn't a draw - well personally I've never really watched them for cute/shippy/phan moments?? I watch their videos because it's like sitting on the couch and watching two friends of yours casually play games on a lazy afternoon - that's how it feels to me. I watch their videos separately and like them as separate people and then when they do content together like the gaming channel it's like hanging out with friends. That's what YouTube is to me anyway - a kind of virtual relaxation and chilling with people who paradoxically feel like friends but you really don't know them but that's also alright

I just wanted to do a quick reply as I was someone who used the word uncomfortable in the last thread. The only thing that made me uncomfortable was that I didn't initially recognise Dan as Dan. It made me realise my face blindness must be worse than I thought! Other than that I loved it!

I really loved the switch video as well. I thought it was funny and cringey in the best way, couldn't stop laughing. It felt relaxed and effortless, in a good way. I like a DvP when you can't really tell who is going to win and I really hope they left the All or Nothing in 2016.

One thing that stuck out is that Dan doesn't seem to look at the camera as often as he usually does. I mean, usually Dan's facial expression gives us cues on how to interpret something he's saying, or at least how he wants us to interpret him. and I'm thinking that this might be a reason why some might find the video hard to read. I know he probably was just looking at the tv (and Phil), but it I think that was what had me confused before realising what it was. I also think that it was part of what made the video enjoyable as it, like someone said, felt like watching friends just having fun.

:17 - Definitely thought Phil was gonna smack Dan with the controller there.
:28 - "We make quality content that isn't licking things." Dan snapping back at all the people saying the lick video was weak content by... fully agreeing with them.

No one asked me but to reply to people asking why we watch dan and phil and if it's all about shippy/phan moments:

I think saying that Dan and Phil's content is only good for watching their relationship progress is a bit of an insult to Dan and Phil. Sure, sometimes Dan's videos are kinda basic (I'm looking at you, How To Survive Exams...) but the truth is that Dan and Phil put a lot of work into what they do and have a good result. Take TATINOF for example...maybe one part of it was cringey but the rest of it was damn well rehearsed and they not only pulled it off, they owned it, served it, blew us all away. They have three channels between the two of them, even though they're pretty much a duo at this point. After TATINOF was released on youtube red they've been uploading extremely frequently, and it's been a few months now. They've maintained a successful youtube career for a very long time, something a lot of OG youtubers completely failed to do.

I could go on, but I just feel strongly that Dan and Phil are more than The Story of Phan. Yes, the story of phan is beautiful, and I am very excited to see how it continues. I ship them with all of my being and I want them to get married and have 10 dogs. But I'm also enjoying the content they're putting their hard work into along the way.

To me, it's less the story of phan and more the chemistry of phan. I do appreciate that they put work into their videos - more than some youtubers, less than others - but if you removed my attachment to their chemistry then their content wouldn't have meaning for me. And if they made content I just really didn't like, their chemistry wouldn't matter to me. Even if I'm here more for them than the content, there has to be some level of respect/appreciation in all areas for me.

(And if they were two straight guys with the same chemistry and the same content, it would probably hold less meaning to me as well because the humor and chemistry they exhibit between straight guys would feel like baiting to me. But that's veering into a different conversation.)

Basically - there are lots of small pieces that build the whole puzzle for me, no single reason.

Just popping in to say that I liked the "Switch" video - did they flip the video as a "play" on Switch, or for some other reason? As for the lighting, the boys don't spend too much time on production value - they're more focused on the "story," and editing for effect. Overall, mildly entertaining - certainly more so than Japanese horseplay.

i really liked the 1 2 switch video i think dan and phil's 2017 sense of humor is GLORIOUS and if that's the rebrand they implied at i am more than pleased
they're so, almost too comfortable on camera lately and i couldn't be happier and prouder of deppy and the incredible transition in behavior they've had lately!
im all for them being big flirts and throwing innuendos left and right i like that more adult humor and i find it more enjoyable
