I'm sorry, but what a bland interview, both from the interviewers and deppy. It brought me back to my pre-teen years, when every teen magazine had Avril Lavigne on the cover and included shocking facts and information like her favourite colour.

I did not expect much more, really, bc Girlfriend magazine is exactly of that calibre (a vapid rag for teenage girls). Robot questions get you robot answers.

Two shows in the next 24 hours and six shows in five consecutive days next week. Glad they're getting the koala-holding times in while they can. Hopefully they'll leave enough energy to enjoy the larger cities as well.

I love Phil, I absolutely love him. And I know that at the end of the day what we're talking about here is a fluff interview to take up space in a meaningless magazine (no offence Magazine). But he uses words as camouflage. He chooses the safest response that people can just skim over as they read. 'Buffy, yes, nothing new there'. Man or woman, surely he has a more recent 'celebrity crush' than a show from almost 15 years ago. He doesn't want to answer the question at all? Then why not come up with a more interesting joke/deflective answer. Have some fun with it. But he doesn't do any of that, because saying anything different runs the risk of making somebody's ears perk up in his general direction. He clings to the status quo so our eyes move along to the next question, our thoughts of him unchanged. Which, whatever, he's living his life. But man, crack a window Phil, let some fresh air in. I don't get what the worst case scenario could possibly be that prevents him from saying something new or unexpected. He doesn't want to see weird new fanart? Isn't he sick of the usual stuff by now? Truly what else is the deterrent? No comprende.

And if they don't know deppy, how is that supposed to make them interested? Buffy? Really? Nothing more current? Or at least more interesting? They need new speech writers, especially Phil. First of all: I agree.

But second, I wonder if they're just really not keen on text-only interviews? I wonder if he'd take more of a risk in a spoken word one? They both opened up nicely in that HuffPo one but since Dan used emoticons I am assuming this was a completely text-based interview, and it's hard to take risks when you know people have no base for judging your tone. Text interviews can also be taken way out of context (for publication, not just the way fans do). I'm talking specifically in how both of them played every question safe, not just Phil.

Phil is more open if it's an actual interview (without Dan interrupting him) especially if it's not about him. I remember their interview with Jimmy. He was really talkative and was fun to watch. I really want to learn more about Phil. I really want to hear/to read nonRobot responses. But I always give him a pass (despite my frustration) because the last time we actually heard/watched what he genuinely feel it was through a YT glitch. Scarred 4lyf. Besides, Dan "over shares" for the two of them any way.

I feel like he's not lying when he says he's bad at coming up with on-the-spot answers so he repeats things he said before cause it's safer and practical. I think Phil majorly lacks the kind of vanity that motivates you to sound "edgy" and "cool" in interviews (even if it wasn't for a teeny magazine), he just doesn't care. Though he probably did a good job promoting his channel by mentioning the videos he has made. Maybe should get a publicist, it'd make for more exciting interviews and protect them in case of stupid journalists like the one from The Sunday Times.
And the picture of they picked is so good! I believe it's from last year from the times of UK tour judging from their looks.

I agree with the quoted above ^^^ and I wanted to add that I feel like it has a lot to do with who he's talking to, you know? Like, Jimmy was friends with him that might put him at ease, a reporter that acts professionally and knowledgeable about them (did his research)

The interview was dry as day old toast but I did like the photo. Is it a new(ly released) one? They look great in it. This answer made me laugh:

I read this response on twitter and someone being like HOW DOES SOMEONE DO IT ACCIDENTALLY and weirdly(?) I kind of get this. There are things we do in our morning routine every single day that we don't even think about (walk to the bathroom, wash hands and face, take shower, hang the towel in the same place, put in contacts, etc) all mindlessly that if I'm Dan and I've been straightening my hair every day for however many years I might have done the same thing. Although it did excite me to see "I'm seeing if I don't need to do this now" which means hopefully he's considering letting the hobbit hair fly free once and a while.
