some thoughts about the editing on the movie. only spoiler-y if you don't know the basic elements of the show yet:

i really loved the clips of the audience. i noticed a number of clips of bored/confused parents which i think was definitely a bit of humor on their part.

the one that stuck out to me, though, was right after the song. they showed a clip of someone in the audience (very close-up) and even though you can't hear them you can see them very obviously mouth 'that was so cute'. i find it interesting that they would choose that because i feel like they usually roll their eyes at people thinking they're cute/aww-ing at them. and they edited it themselves so it's not random, they specifically chose to show that audience member close-up at that exact moment. i don't really know if there's a point i'm trying to make, it just definitely stuck out to me when i watched it and i wanted to bring it up here. i guess people finding them/things they do 'cute' isn't something they very often acknowledge so to put it in the spotlight in such a huge release...just intrigues me. does anyone have anything more eloquent to say about it?

Thought on the editing

Just one thought, I think they like to show any audience member who’s doing something interesting and giving a representation of what we think and like. I noticed a few good facial expressions, and the bored parents were funny too. At the end of Tatinof there’s a girl kinda losing it with phan feels and I wonder if she might see that in a few years and wish they hadn’t included it (and me mentioning it now, heh), so they don’t seem to mind showing us liking the ship, though that was a strong reaction so you could argue they were taking the mick, but hopefully not.

I know there’s not going to be a red carpet and the said their look would casual snazz, but it’s still a premiere and I fully expect a joint selfie. Oh and we’ll be getting m&g pics, I’ve kinda missed those.

I know they have a weird relationship with “cute” but I mean these are the guys that display their pastel plushies on their feature console along side their really good friend’s art, special candles, terrium and birthday lava lamp, and who last year made that dog calendar and this year that Christmas card. And like obviously they like cute things themselves and put out cute content because they know we like it, I think they just don’t want to be simplified down to only cute. And there’s a difference between showing someone appreciating their dorky final song and the whole refusing to do their pastel personas on stage and gagging over the concept.

While I’m in the spoiler tag I meant to go back and quote the person that commented on the deleted scene. I love it. It’s hilariously awkward simce you can tell the theatre is empty, yet I do agree that it somehow makes their performances a bit more real. I’m curious if this is the same formula/script for the rare times that Phil was on the wheel, or if it’s slightly tweaked for the dvd. Also them just walking off the stage, with Phil not fully taking off the protective suit was brilliant.

Ooo I’m getting notifs for content as I write this! Ha! I like that there is no option for it being appropriate. And I’m glad that not enough is at 97% I find it a bit hard to believe that they didn’t finalize their outfits, but I guess it’s possible they packed extra options.

knowing them, it’ll be thirty minutes after the Q&A has started (half of that time will be spent trying to come up with the tweet and the other half just them being generally a mess)

I agree I couldn't help but crack up at the ridiculousness of them performing to an empty theatre like it was full. But to address the script thing- Phil was on the wheel at my show and most of the dialogue was the exact same from both of them. The only real difference was the end bit which Phil flubbed up a bit while getting the props trunk off stage and it took him a bit and a sit down to get the suit off, but I think my show (being the last one of the North American leg) was special in that they, especially Phil, were pretty exhausted.

Re dialogue in the extra scene

It was a bit different in the UK shows, I can only remember the start with Phil doing a very good worried face and saying "Dad!" and maybe also mentioning his mum, I don't remember the rest now, but he was all cute.

I've noticed that they are shipping everything in these grey plastic bags, instead of using much more eco-friendly packaging such as cardboard boxes. I wanted to send them/the people who manage their online shop an email about it and suggest alternatives, but was unable to find any contact details. It might be better to contact them directly anyway.
