I agree. The Sims series is a big part of their channel and I doubt they would want so many sponsored videos on their channel. Especially now that they don't upload there all that much.phamnotof wrote:that's always been a bit strange to me! if it's possible, I doubt they wouldn't be offered, but maybe they chose not to take it because they do the Sims so often & didn't wanna be criticized for doing so much spon? the only other thing I can think of is that maybe, EA doesn't have a contract with D&P's network/agency, and those things do tend to go through your "people".tinnie wrote:I'm actually a bit surprised they're not sponsored by EA. How do Zoe and Alfie go about acknowledging that they are sponsored by EA? Isn't the rule that it doesn't have to be disclosed if there's no script given? So EA could be sending Dan and Phil the product for free and a check but as long as they aren't giving D&P any actual notes on what to say, they don't have to disclose? I actually wouldn't care if that were the case, because I enjoy content that they make and don't think Sims being sponsored would really change the content one way or another. Ultimately getting a paycheck is their impetus to make videos whether or not the check is larger and comes from a company or smaller and comes from ad revenue.tinnie wrote:I agree. They are really good advertising for new expansion packs, for sure. If EA subtle slips D&P some cash every time they come out with something new... well, it's not a bad system.majitzu wrote:Why would EA sponsor them when they are soing the sponsor for free?
(Not saying that I for sure think that this is happening, just that it's plausible and wouldn't bother me if it were.)

I think they would just need to say that EA had given them the game. I don't think you could claim that a LP series is advertising just because they've been given the game... But imagine the chaos, and the amount of channels that would be insta-killed if that ever happened...alittledizzy wrote:How do Zoe and Alfie go about acknowledging that they are sponsored by EA? Honestly I think that Dan and Phil are really good with disclosing sponsored videos. I doubt very much that the other sponsored ones they have done so far, have been scripted by the company. So I think that means that they didn’t have to acknowledge those sponsorships either, but they do so because of transparency. And I imagine that the company may request that they make it clear as well.alittledizzy wrote:How do Zoe and Alfie go about acknowledging that they are sponsored by EA? Zalfie’s Sims videos all have AD on the thumbnail and I don’t think that he was given whole scripts, so I imagine that if this was the case with they too would put that up as well.

I think Dan and Phil demand a certain amount of freedom with their videos so 'scripted' doesn't strictly mean given a script, but that they had certain points they were required to hit within those videos (think Crunchyroll with talking about the month trial, or DragonCity/World Chef by talking about certain features) and chances are they had to send the video to the company for approval before they could actually post it. The kind of money-exchange deal that they wouldn't have to disclose would be like if EA said "here's our game and some money" with the understanding that Dan and Phil would feature the game somehow, but had no further involvement with it than that. That's how people like Zoella do monthly favorites but don't have to disclose it - because technically they are allowed to 'review' it however they want. There's no script in that if they did hate they product, they could say that - but for the sake of their reputation with that brand and future brands, they're very unlikely to do that.SquishPhan wrote: Honestly I think that Dan and Phil are really good with disclosing sponsored videos. One thing that makes me think Deppy are probably not sponsored by EA is that they often laugh at weird game glitches and comment on the annoying aspects of the game.
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch Zalfie play sims because I find them both boring, but has anyone who does watch them noticed whether they do this too? I would imagine that EA wouldn't want sponsored gamers to talk about the less-than-perfect aspects of the game.

Hello! Later today I'm going to upload all of Phil's February 2009 Dailybooths, but here's a preview.
Questions: Is there someone in his bed? Why didn't Charlie comment? Is this a reference to World of Warcraft, as one of the comments seems to suggest? If so, what does it mean? Are any of the people in the comments other than Sarah Grace noteworthy for any reason?

To be fair she didn't start talking about them, and with a question like that one's mind does wonder, so I didn't think it was bad or cringe worthy.Ticia wrote:Louise talking about DP (12:25 - 13:36)

I understand why she chose Dan as well. Me I would go with Phil.
oqua you are doing great work once again.
Re: Dan's (presumably) tongue-in-cheek comment about re-watching the Sims spa episode for relaxation purposes... He may be on to something, though. I was a little anxious about getting a motion completed on time (I don't usually do litigation)... then I queued up the Sims episode again. Listening to their familiar voices but in a more soothing & relaxing timbre actually did help to talk me down a bit. I'll have to try listening to someone else's Sims spa commentary as a control group to rule out any placebo effect, ha. Maybe they should consider doing a podcast of guided meditations... Because they have so much free time.

I do the same thing. Most nights I fall asleep watching/listening to one of their videos. It really helps, because I find them and their voices very comforting. This does mean choosing videos where Dan doesn't scream too often and loudly. But yeah surprisingly it really works for me.ironic wrote:I've been watching (or listening to) D&P videos every night for a few months now because they help me fall asleep.I find the whole Sims series quite relaxing, though the spa episode is even more calming than usual. I think it will be one of my favourites. Undertale vids work great too imo.

Thanks for the link aralik.
I like that Louise chose to ramp up the awkwardness by choosing Dan instead of Phil who can "cope with life better"Ticia wrote:Louise talking about DP (12:25 - 13:36)

Wow oqua
I think that the best year to actually get to know Phil is 2009: relatively small fanbase, flirty, daily updates on his personal life, creative, sweet (and openly bisexual?). Me loves 2009 Phil, what can I say . It's a great contrast with 2009 Dan, or at least what he says it was 2009 for him.
I had no idea whatsoever that Phil knew Catrific and Tyler Oakley since 2009 (unless they are just coincidental nicknames on that website). If so, how come it took so long for a collab / real life contact?
And finally...
