He's such a big ray of sunshine in my life and his videos are God's gift to humans. Kinda felt bad saying it, but I could never really get mad at him. That's just how far up his ass I am lol.

2018 has been a great year for Phil. I hope 2019 continues to be even greater for him and he finds happiness and comfort.

If Dan’s return to his channel isn’t the oft anticipated sequel to living my truth (sexuality edition), then I think it’s going to be a video on physical health and fitness, so the hiatus is to give him time to montage himself into being fit like before the tour when he said he had *gulps* abs—could even be a continuation of Dan and Depression by tying in physical well being with mental health. (Perhaps inspired in part by his brother, or Tyler Oakley)

My 3rd and far less favorite theory is he comes back with a long waffle on the artist’s journey and creative burnout.

Is Pastel Edits IRL the closest they’ve gotten to a cute video near Valentines Day? Phil drew his subscribers (biggest AP vid flop imo) last year on the 15th and described his first date on the same day in 2012. Maybe a Horse Prince video? (Close, the first one was on the 19th). I wouldn’t blame them for avoiding the day. But also baking. Or candy/chocolate making with penis molds since it seems to be Phil’s new branding. Or would that be too close to a chocolate bar and something else in my mouth? (Sorry, sorry, just googled, some of those are way too realistic).

Man, that drawing subscribers video was so bad. Usually I'm zen with Phil doing whatever Phil wants to do, but that video was just not good. I don't think I ever even finished it.

I think whatever Dan comes back with will be something he either put a lot of thought into and made, or a light hearted re-introduction to himself because he has a video idea he put a lot of thought into but panicked and backed out of making it at the last minute and decided to test the waters with something easier first.

I'd be so into a Valentine's day collab, there's much cute potential there. The baking heart cookies would definitely be adorable. Or they could like, idk, make Valentine's for their mothers. Or their subscribers. Or their mystery girlfriends and/or boyfriends. Or the future dog they will one day own. Or Phil tries to give Dan some kind of thematic manicure.

This was the same thought I had about him revisiting his channel in the new year. More specifically, I was wondering if Dan's absence is part of what he meant by focusing on life things, spending more time on himself, family and friends. Going back to his Rocky references about running montages, I wonder if his first video of 2019 might be one along the lines of talking about the whirlwind of months he spent in 2018 planning, practicing, touring and filming- how that affected him positively and negatively- and then putting a full stop at the end of that journey to move on talking about more personal ventures related to his health, self-esteem, life goals and creative inspiration, followed up by actual montages like you said of his days spent running, (maybe also house moving? new studio/background set up? RE2 speedrun marathon?) and other anecdotal video clips collected from the past month to illustrate his point. Not exactly like a 'month in the life of Dan' but more like a mental health/life journey oriented conversation that might also include mentions of how he plans to continue limiting his time spent on social media or change his approach in how he engages with it, audience included.

I don't know if that's the case, but it could all be part of what's leading up to him revealing his new direction and new sense of self moving ahead, like a refreshed reveal in the same vein as Phil changing up his profile pic, banner and background to reflect his own growth and need to change certain aspects of his channel presence- and staying mum about the details of where that new direction is headed might also be according to plan.
I've read theories about how talking about wanting to do something immediately detracts from the motivation behind actually doing it, partly due to how receiving support from others encouraging your intentions subconsciously translates into an early sense of accomplishment, leading up to procrastination or failure from ever achieving it at all as the pressure to live up to that projected image of success suddenly seems more daunting, especially when other people's expectations of you are now involved. So I wonder if not saying anything about his intentions, whether it's about taking a break or making a video, is part of that too, to help him focus on fulfilling his own plans and projects in his own time in his own way instead of thinking about having to live up to the collective crush of public expectation on top of his own after broadcasting it.

Or maybe he's just indulging in the comfort of not being 'on' all the time, not having to 'perform,' coveting his solitude (albeit with Phil) in a way that 2018's tour schedule of constant meet and greet's, performances, IG stories, pics and tweets might have detracted from. It could just be that taking his time with a new video is like one long, extended inhale he's taking before he decides to dive back in again. (with a thirty minute long ISG) I kid, I kid.
But it'll be interesting to see where he decides to divide his attentions going ahead in terms of personal projects he might have been wanting to try for himself, now that the major collaborative projects like the book, tatinof and II have already been accomplished.

We’ve talked about dnp’s web silence but I wonder if Phil specifically asked people to wish him happy birthday offline like Tyler, Louise, and the other youtuber friends that usually tweet him or if the tour has caused a big disconnect.
It just seems like maybe that’s why yesterday seemed sparse as well- only dan, Martyn, and Cornelia tweeted him.

Good point about less friends tweeting Phil, it’s possible they’ve talked about it or maybe all naturally got more restrained about things like that in public, I don’t see all their friends’ tweets anyway.

I’ve been thinking along those lines, @Elemancy and you put it so well. It would be funny if his mentions of a montage are actually filming himself running (years ago some friends of mine made a cute Rocky montage parody, maybe playing Harry Potter characters, this discussion keeps reminding of it). I think coming back with an update, his thoughts on the creative process, whatever he’s been thinking about, would be great as long as it’s about him. The depression video nailed it for a more serious, personal topic. Story time would be great too, heck he might have a new format. I’d happily take an isg, though at this rate we might be building our hype up (I don’t know that we are tbh, just discussing thoughts).

wow...i would actually die if this happens but the sane part of me thinks @Phantasy might be onto something, also because dan said "montage" and it could just be him using fancy words to describe what he was doing while on media silence but also a part of me hopes hed actually talk about drawing a connection between mental health and physical health. ive been putting off taking care of my physical self even tho i know i should pull my shit together and exercise or even just regularly floss...im interested in his thoughts about this
