You can definitely get photobooth pictures that are high quality, though they aren't (in my experience) going to come from what you think of as a traditional photobooth. They're usually photo booth set-ups that you can rent for a special even of some kind. They're often something like this

Having said that, I have no idea where they would have been to take these pictures and had a line waiting for them without anyone hearing about it. I'd be more inclined to believe they rented one, or had them taken.

And they do look quite similar to the Sunday Times pics! So who knows

Since their shop is on big cartel i guess niki and sammy run it independently? Maybe IRL bought the distribution right in north America or distribution right offline?

It's definitely a professional studio setup. The lighting looks similar to the tabinof photoshoot with the main light coming from the top, except this time they have two additional, smaller soft boxes from both sides.

Ooh, I do hope they continue expanding their business to include more youtubers. I'm all for merch world domination!

(btw, keeping up with this forum is really a time-consuming hobby, i've been stuck for weeks trying to catch up and when im just about to catch up there's suddenly 20 pages more to read.... )

Good catch. It's visible in both their eyes in all the pictures. Don't know what information the IDB detectives can get out of it but here's a compilation.

RE the whole quality thing, these photobooths are quite common in uk shopping centres, pharmacies and the like, and they have a resolution of five million pixels, so it's definitely possible to find public photobooths which produce high quality pictures

alas the photo-me website doesn't have photos of the inside layout of all of its different booths (smh so inconsiderate), so i can't determine if the picture was definitely taken in a photo-me booth or somewhere else, but the concept of them taking these photos in a photobooth is certainly plausible

i think it was in reference to Phil saying fans had been commenting that Dan and Phil had a baby, after this photo was posted (earlier than this liveshow):

the photobooth thing is odd. i can see unusual shapes in their eyes, but nothing else about the context is plausible, to me. especially not the 'hundreds' of outtakes thing, nor their comfort level in public, and without hair stuff, makeup for blemishes, or a change of shirt to play around with etc. could the square in the reflection be a monitor to watch themselves, and the two below ring lights? i'm sure we've seen them in their collection before..

It's probably too late for my opinion re: Japanese merch -- but as someone who lives in Japan and as a graphic designer, i don't find it offensive at all. People use different languages and different cultural imagery all the time. It's not normalisation, it's just trendy. I like it.

Japanese fashion does this (famously with varying degrees of success) regularly with English and several other languages. Just google funny Japanese english shirts or something similar.

As for the design - I think it's good. Things don't have to be centered to be "asthetically pleasing". It's mute, it's subtle and it doesn't scream fangirl either.

Nothing to be offended about here.
