This is going to be really off topic, but I was googling Dan today to see some feedback on his coming out, and once again stumbled upon the ridiculous website that claims he used to date Lucy Hale. Lmao. I forget that thing exists and am reminded every so often.

I don't wanna put pressure on phil after he managed to keep us going for six months on his own, but as many here, it seemed to me the hiatus was over. Hopefully vidcon will save us from this drought.

I miss them both so much and I don’t know how easy it’s going to be waiting for content until late July/early August but I hope they prove us wrong and give us something. I was totally expecting something before VidCon, there were 3 weeks to go when Dan posted and nothing in Phil’s members post was clear about silence until then. They went from tweeting daily again to occasionally I’m still mainlining that “Two Man Team” edit, it’s so good. The tune reminds me of “When I Need You” which reminds me of “All I have to do is dream”, which I’ve always preferred.

This is kind of off-topic, but I imagine other people are kind of interested, too. Ever since the video, Dan (and Phil) to an extent have been discussed a lot more lately with people outside of the phandom, with outsiders and/or ex-phandom members. More often than not, it's just turns into an excuse to make a very generalized bash on the phandom in general. Like, I get it. There's been a lot of loud and cringey people, in a lot of fandoms too, but after a while it feels like they don't really know what they're talking about and instead just making a generalized assumption based off of crazy shippers in general. Anyways, I've been reading through a lot of threads on reddit with people talking about his coming out video. I see more comments about the crazy shippers than I've seen comments from crazy shippers (Of which I've seen none! Although I'm not naive in thinking that there isn't any). Sweeping generalized statements across the board where people say that "shippers" are making it more about their ship rather than about Dan's video...ironically enough in these threads I see very little discussion about Dan as a person and instead everything is about the evil phandom. Even now, it feels like Dan will forever and foremost be his fans rather than himself at the center of discussion

Anyways, I mostly wanted to share this interaction because I couldn't get it out of my mind. Also found a comment saying that they knew Phil from school and he seemed like a nice guy at the time, which was nice to see.

i haven't seen any comments that focus only on shipping either, even though they probably exist somewhere. i think it's probably a combination of the phandom having a bad reputation bc of the very loud and disrespectful actions of some people back then (which probably still exists but not to the same extent as far as i'm aware) + just general hate for fandoms that are stereotyped as just being full of young girls (don't even get me started on that lmao). also some people seems to not be able to see the difference between being a fan of them and liking their dynamic and everything (whatever you believe their relationship is currently like) and full on harrassing them.

but yeah, i've seen a lot of complaining and scolding of the phandom and none of the behavior they're actually talking about. for the most part it just seems like a lot of people that have already made up their mind and imo there's probably not much anyone can say to change their mind.

i do think it sucks though that people seem to focus more on all of this than the rest of the video and what he had to say.

So I noticed that Dan followed a smaller photographer’s Instagram account yesterday and the photographer isn’t too well known but dan has followed other photography accounts so wasn’t too curious. Anyways today the photographer followed him back and liked some of dan’s pictures- I’m curious about this. Wonder if dans gotten some new pictures taken or if there’s going to be some other kind of interaction on Instagram

From what I’ve seen for the MOST part, the phandom seems to have been pre good. I think the main problem is the “outside” people as you say stereotyping... While I so ship phan I NEVER shove it in anyones faces ESPECIALLY dan and phil. From what I saw on twitter for the first week or so everyone was pre calm and unproblematic except for the *cough*iamalex*cough* situation. I got suspended from twitter for a whole other reason last wednesday morning so I cant say what its like now. As for tumblr, i usually stay away but im not against it... instagram is mostly sc’s of tweets or edits etc. idk what Im saying I think I mean i agree with you.

As far as I can tell, the rules are that you have to be 13+ and a resident of the US to enter. It seems that the majority of the document tries to establish that using the hashtag enters you into a legally binding contract with VidCon, and the purpose of this contract is to give VidCon permission to use the content you submit to the hashtag in whatever way they see fit, including commercially.

This was happening a lot on Tumblr, people wanting to make their point about RPF shipping and mlm fetishization using phan as an example, isn’t new, but it seemed like everyone post in the phan tag was about that for a solid weak. I’ve commented on a few of these posts and even got into a DM with one person who “hadn’t ever watched these dudes” but was calling their fans “freaks” and “clowns”, saying “here comes the circus” and that their relationship was “complete fiction”. First I quoted from his video then I illuminated her with several paragraphs about the history of their relationship with their fan base and she just responded “k”, then posted that we were touchy, lol.

One positive interaction was someone starting out saying RPF shipping and fan fiction is “probably wrong”, that they had only watched them casually in the past, but was curious about how they were doing, if they were happy, if they still lived together, etc without being invasive. I updated them, ending with why shipping, fan art and fan fic are positive non-harmful things and the boys’ stances on it. We’ve had pleasant conversations since.

I’m not starving for a video. I just want that interview.
