I mean, I would never ever ever expect them to keep up this level of posting when they're back home but I still feel like a good middle ground could be achieved, you know? Or something to substitute it, I don't necessarily mean insta stories. For example, since Phil started doing liveshows again I don't feel the need for insta stories and i don't miss them, but that's because we still get some communication from him.

I'm just sad that they feel the need to go all in or all out, either it's all day multiple posts or zero nada nothing complete lockdown silence for weeks. This gives me whiplash
Will probably never be over the BONCAS and the beauty of Phil Lester.

Definitely agree. I would just like a balance but I have a feeling that their projects may happen soon so I don’t think things will be exactly the same. this year has been a big transitional year so I’ll be more curious how next year goes

Amiaw wrote: Mon Nov 18, 2019 3:31 pm I honestly don’t know how I’m going to go back to the sporadic updates when they’re home. This feels different than Vegas in that they’ve went out of their way to post multiple times every day so I have hopes things won’t go back to how they were.
i think the thing that’s trickier when they’re in London is: they live there. in Japan it’s so easy for them to say “hey we visited this temple it’s super pretty” “hey we ate here and it’s life-changing” because there’s no risk—once they’ve visited, they won’t return. but if they share the same, every day equivalent there’s inherently more risk of intrusion. a restaurant that they frequent feels less safe; the starbucks phil dips down to for an afternoon sugar fix is no longer anonymous. (i mean, to be fair, maybe people already know this information. but it isn’t—and shouldn’t be—fair game info.)

i also feel like they’ve drawn a pretty firm line in between “personal” and “professional/public” space this year. days that they’re in the apartment for days on end, playing video games and working on projects, etc seem to be in the “not shared” box. i’m just SO grateful that a clearly personal vacation has yielded so much share-worthy posts. i like to think that they feel more comfortable sharing on igstory since it doesn’t live on the platform forever (even if it will inevitably live on the internet forever.)
I think this is exactly it. I think they want to feel comfortable and not observed in their home life, and on top of that most of the things they're working on appear to be projects that they can't share anyway.

I think they do make an attempt to get out of the house and show us when they do that, and I like that. But I do genuinely believe they're both busy working on things so I get them having stretches of days where they're just not doing things they can or want to share, and want to retain privacy for the daily routine of their life.

I'm just enjoying the fuck out of the fact that they still want to share trips like this with us.

For my own peace of mind, I am trying not to think about what will happen once they are back home. I just wanna focus my attention on this blessed Japan content and how much of this holiday dnp are willing to share with us; I just love how they end the day by always giving us something. (However, I do agree that going from the current state of things to how it was pre-Japan would not feel good.)

I'm loving all the Japan content. It's so adorable. You can tell this trip means a lot to them.

With regards to content when at home, I guess maybe their home content isn't much if they don't go out a lot. I only really post if I've ventured outside or done something fun. I'm not sure I want to see stories about what levels they have reached on video games either

I'm really looking forward to listening to Phil's podcast in bed later. I'll probably watch some old videos too. I've been slowly watching them on a playlist and I think I've got their trip to Japan next to watch!! I'd love for them to do that again but I don't think they're doing that this time

loved phil's podcast, loved his voice in the podcast, and most of all i love that he can do this kind of thing now that he's out! nice to learn about the charity and how it was founded. i was sure i remembered seeing something related to the albert kennedy trust before, and actually there was a photo of dan at london pride holding an akt flag. anyway, i'm very happy that phil's helping raise awareness of a charity specifically for lgbt+ youth. :prideheart2: :prideheart2:

I totally agree! Also, what is good about the insta stories for example is that we get to see things they really want to show us. If they do insta stories just because they feel like they have to, it really won't be good content.

Oh, that’s a lovely coincidence. Interesting to find certain things are connected.

So much love for Phil’s hair right now. Also white peach flavoured drink. That’s gotta be nicer in its pure juice form, but still, sounds good.

they cute. also can't believe there aren't any compilations of deppy at arcades, because there is definitely enough material out there for it.

Uh IDK how to inbed things. But Dan's insta with the piece of paper that an anon on tumblr said:

"It’s like a lucky charm it says it holds your family safe and happy and brings wealth and luck"

I am slayed. Because he's with his family. And he's telling us.

This is a nice little nostalgic video for anyone that's been a youtube fan for a few years. There's a cute pic of Dan in there (the one in the thumbnail) and he tells a story about Dan and Phil at 5:15.

Aw that was a nostalgia trip.

I knew I had heard that story before and after going through my brain rolodex I realized it's from a two year old Grace Helbig video. I would pay good money to see deppys faces during that

Apparently Mitchell Davis was there too. I think you can hear Dan for 0.5 seconds in the beginning.

I have a theory about Phil's hair. Because I love to avoid responsibilities rn,. I've been following hair discourse. Part of which includes the "I'm not about the shaved sides" thing. BUT I really thing the shaved sides right before the trip is an attempt to hide the grey while he grows the black out etc. I can see it now, "All right, I gotta shave this shit down bc Dan is on a mission to provide 'lit' content." (feel free to imagine Phil's adorable way of doing airquotes).

Listen, I am DOWN for silver fox, free the grey Phil. Or go back to black. I mean you could do any color and I'd love you.

ALSO how DARE Dan be so precious as to try to pet a deer??? (I was talking about this with someone and like, the Michigander in me is all DON'T TOUCH THE DEER, TICKS OMG!" Which I realize may not be a thing in Japan, IDK)

God I love the deer stories so much. I know what I'm gonna be watching over and over for the next few days.

I could be wrong but I think it’s just a math joke and a play on that disgustang phrase they say

Dan and Phil constantly quote this video ("DISGOSTANG!"):

So it's a play on that, with that accent (see: "tae" instead of "the") and then he turned it into a ridiculous math joke. SIN COS TAN instead of DISGOSTANG.

It's basically Dan being... Dan. I hate and love him.
