I wouldn't be upset if Dan collabed with Anthony I wouldn't be able to watch it because I really can't stand watching Anthony (no hate he just isn't my cup of tea) and I've tried to watch their past videos and really struggled. I'd be happy for everyone waiting for any on screen Dan though.

I always wondered if Dan or Phil would ever consider moving to LA short term for better career opportunities, I know in the past Phil said no because of being so far from his family, but if Dan is stepping away from YouTube as a platform it would make sense to pursue things in LA. I'm anxious to know what he's working on and since Dan doesn't really do drawn out build ups to projects I'm kinda hopeful we'll get some info soon, even if it's not something I'm really interested in I'm over not knowing.

I also want to know about this whole Glitch project that Phil has, though we all seem more chill about that project. I would hope we would hear something about that this month.

I'm curious about that. I figured the glitch theme was a one off aesthetic for that particular piece of merch. If it had something to do with a project Phil is going to release in the future, I feel like the releases would have to be a lot closer together to make sense.

also Dan is with pals. No dogs have yet been mentioned but we can hope

I'd like a Dan/Anthony collab. That emo video they made together was a piece of art. I don't think Dan will film anything in LA though, it would be weird for him to avoid his own and Phil's channel for months and then have his Youtube comeback on someone else's channel. Unless of course he doesn't care about his quality threshold like he used to, that could have changed since he last talked about it.

I also understand why they don't want to film together at the moment (or ever again). When they weren't out they had this "best friends forever" thing to hide behind and no matter how many people questioned it that was the official story. With that gone it would probably be too hard to keep their relationship private like Dan wants to (and Phil too probably, he just didn't say anything about it). I don't like how they went about killing the gaming channel and stuff but I get why it had to happen even though I'm sad it's done.

I think so too. It seems to have been a one-off collab with Laura Brouwers. That would make the most sense to me because Laura also only mentioned the hoodie, no other projects with Phil, and since it was her art on the hoodie, she would be involved in a bigger project too, I guess.

I'm however patiently waiting for Phil to tell us more about his writing. He said that he didn't know where it was going yet so I'm not expecting anything soon but I'd love to hear more about that, he seemed so excited about it. (I also very selfishly just want more content written by Phil. I'd love a book or a graphic novel but anything would be great.)

I'm not chill at all, I've been thinking about it at least once a day and I just wonder - was the Glitch actually related to his project or was it just random? It sounds TOO random? I'm hoping that with Vidcon next month we might hear something more about it, but I had that hope for Vidcon US and we didn't have any announcement :( although we did have an entire hour of solo Phil fresh from coming out and he was delightful.

I'm still wishing and thinking it will be a graphic novel or a script for something animated - Phil's brain is perfect to create stories that aren't confined in reality and live action, but I can see an animated show more than a graphic novel only because I think it's more up Phil's alley, more lively.

But yeah it does seem like most people are more chill about it, or careless I would say. I'm not surprised, for as much as people want to say that no one would ever overreact about Phil like they do Dan, we can't pretend that people are less loud and seemingly less excited about Phil's project. But hey, maybe it's ONLY because Phil is actually giving us things once a week.

I thought Laura also did the art for his pajamas? The glitch hoodie could be random but it’s strange that there was no explanation for it and that he just dropped it out of the blue.

Why is this so endearing? We don't usually get lowkey lonely tweets from Phil like this.

Damn, he’s bored and lonely, I’m bored and lonely, a lot of us might be bored and lonely, shame we’re all fricking separate. Norman is looking amazingly blue. I’m not sure I’ve seen a fish mid-yawn before. Obvs we know they have the friends they hang out with, except for the ones we don’t, but I guess they don’t just go out to a thing on the meetup site when they’re at a loose end. I guess that’s partly why one has a pet fish and a willing audience to tweet to. I’ve meant to go meetups for years and only gone regularly to one. New people is hard sometimes.

I was kinda taken aback by this at first because it's true, we usually don't and it took me by surprise, because that's exactly that kind of thing i'd expect from Dan. Like, even the fact Phil HAD to say that he's home alone when he could've just said that he was talking to Norman because he's bored and no one would've questioned a thing...

Hmm. I hadn’t thought of it like that. Maybe they’re rubbing off on each other, or becoming one  or just more similar than we realise.

Gary C just posted an interesting video about mental health, reminded me somewhat of Dan. He’s had an interesting journey, I guess you could call it, being a very og youtuber who changed his channel over time. He was seemingly an organiser of the halloween outing back in 2009, he had the megaphone in a video clip anyway.

With Dan in LA all I can think about is Tyler’s tweet about a 2020 collab... :hmmm:

I’m doubting that’s Dan’s arm/shoulder, but who knows. I wouldn’t be upset if Anthony interviewed Dan for his emo thing, but I don’t think Dan went to LA to collab.
I suspected this shirt had a fade when we saw it in the VR bar story. My kid has a b&w plaid button up with a dark indigo dip dye gradient. It was like $8 at a resale shop and has a nicer silhouette. I don’t get those shoulders at all and I hate the gathered cuffs. But I guess I don’t understand fashion. Still at 1% of the price, I win. :D

Collab or not, I think it would be good for Dan to spend time with a creator like Tyler who through everything still produces weekly videos and has consistently for 10 years straight. I think we often spend too much time pining for, sympathizing over, creating excuses for, and trying to understand creators who have felt burned out, or become cynical or grew resentful of ‘the algorithm’, and have stopped or sparingly post content anymore.

I think it’s inspiring and refreshing in a way that there are creators out there like Tyler (and Phil!) still grinding away fighting the good fight without decending into a jaded mess.

Tyler has somehow not had depression or something else get in his way enough to stop him, I guess. I’ve been there a lot and comparison, like expectation and a few other things, is a good way to ruin it for yourself. Maybe Tyler could give him some insight, but Dan probably has thought of solutions himself and had advice eg from therapy. Sometimes the solution is to stop.

I mean, I don't think that's necessarily true. I never closely followed Tyler, just not my thing, but didn't he talk in his book about battling depression and an ED while also having a shit father? There are interviews out there where he talks about how hard it can be to push himself to film videos when he has mental issues related to his body image. So I think some praise there has to be shared  there are people who thrive despite their depression, that is a thing that happens and is important to say!

Yeah, Tyler in his book talked about his eating disorder, his battles with anxiety and depression, so let’s give the guy some credit. Also we don’t know if Dan not being a regular youtuber is because of his depression. He has always struggled with making regular content but to me - and from what he said - it’s because he wants his content to match that ridiculous quality threshold of his, not because he has depression. He doesn’t want his mental health issues to be a justification for his lack of content, so I won’t justify his actions by saying “oh but he has depression” or the new post-BIG version of it which is “oh but he has a depression... and he came out”.

Tbh, my point ultimately is that praise for working despite mental health implies that those who find it too hard aren’t good enough or should do more, or differently, to keep up with other people. Burnout, depression, whatever, affecting work, creative or otherwise, is not something to be tired of making excuses for, it’s there to be understood and our working world is full of judgment, being fired for sickness and people valued only when they’re productive. People wonder why they get ill due to work stress. If people don’t find their mental health gets in the way and it ultimately doesn’t define them, great, I wish I could live without the need to find work and keep it or not feel everyone judging me, that I could just apply for benefits without it meaning four rounds of rejection and more stress.

I find it hard to imagine Dan’s Big Return To Youtube would be on Tyler’s channel, but who knows, maybe he’s trying to ease back into it. As mentioned previously I dunno that I’d feel that great about it in all honesty, but it’d be good to see Dan in a video, any video, even if Tyler isn’t my fave. (I liked his video with Phil better than his ones with Dan; it was less second-hand-embarrassment-y). But we’ll have to wait and see I guess (the phannie slogan).

I don't think anyone is actually saying that, there are different situations and different people and mental health is something extremely person that affects many of us. I would never say that someone who is capable of doing something despite their mental health is better than someone who isn't, far from me to say that, I struggle with that every single day of my life. But I also think there's a tendency in this fandom to take every single piece of information and take it to an extreme, from immediately thinking dan and phil are broken up the moment we don't see them together to immediately thinking dan is deep down in a depressive state if he doesn't post.

I think we have seen Dan looking happier than ever, doing things, going out, making a life for himself over the past year and he admitted himself that his depression is better and that he didn't want people to use it as an excuse. We don't actually know how he's doing in that scenario, but he always struggled with posting, and I don't think it's just because of depression, although sure, that must've taken his toll. But he admitted that he just doesn't want to be a youtuber, he struggles with finding a topic and sticking to it because of his perfectionism, those are the reasons that he gave.

Again, Dan isn't us average people, Dan thankfully for him has the means to eventually get the kind of help that a lot of us can't get if it was needed, which is something that has to be considered - which doesn't mean his depression isn't valid or that his mental struggles aren't as important, but he has more opportunities than a lot of us, and a support system that would help him through it if that was actually the reason. Some of us aren't as lucky. And some of us have to keep going anyway. And maybe that's just the therapists i've seen over the years, but I think the healthier message is to try and fight through it as much as you can than give up, that is what I personally meant in my post.

Honestly, I get all of that. I’ve had a ton of therapy and it’s still there, the same old cbt yet again won’t be much help, and I’ve had far better stuff too. I did the fight over and over, others did the shouting and firing, and now my brain says no, so quitting that for something that might work is better.

Dan would never wear a stripe that thick.

I think it’s more likely he’d collab with Anthony than Tyler. I’m not convinced he’s collabing with anyone, though.

Oh yes, of course. I totally forgot about those. I think what's weird about the glitch hoodie is that it's not really Phil's usual merch style. But if it was connected to anything bigger, I think there would have at least been announcements or hints by now. Then again, it's Phil. He's gotten a lot better lately but he still isn't king of communication, so who knows. I think the design of the hoodie is great and I'd really like a project with the same vibe.

I don't think it's going to happen, but Tyler could be the safest bet for Dan to return-collab with. Two of Dan's top-ten videos are with Tyler, and Tyler's #4 video is with Dan. This strongly suggests that loads of people (besides me) love to see them together.
