If they do have a one year lease on their apartment then I guess it will be up this July... or they won't be facing that problem since they already bought it? Seems like they are not much concern about moving, as you guys mention (hanging up new things on the wall and buying new furniture). Yup it kinda irks me knowing people wasting money on rent when they can save it buy just buying the apartment, just waste of money otherwise.

fair enough, maybe I didn't make myself clear with the healty/unhealthy distinction. It was a shortcut to avoid using too many words. The "unhealty" is supposed to denote that perhaps a viewer-entertainer relation is not very well-balanced, which may lead to unnecessary problems in communication and excessive drama that could've been easily avoided otherwise.

Like, yes, totally, Phil looks exhausted during m&g and dealing with fans but he's also getting a average of $100 per hug and smile so I don't go overboard with sympathy. This is not Phil putting himself on the edge of exhaustion simply out of a desire to meet and be kind to every fan - he's doing it for money. Does Phil enjoy meeting and care about fans? Sure. Would he do this if not for getting paid? No fucking way. It's a job. Whether he likes it or not, it's a job. So I'm straddle the line between hoping they're sleeping and eating well and caring for themselves and not going overboard, and then on the other hand not being willing to let them off the hook for the responsibilities they took on themselves for this career/tour they've chosen and get paid exceedingly well for. They are adults, they'll be fine in the end. Fine and very, very rich.

Can I suck up to you for just one moment? I find that you often express my feelings but in a better way than I'd ever be able to. This is a good example of you doing that. My "they’re two grown-ups who made a serious decision to tour so should be expected to be well prepared to deal with the consequences now" (jfc am I really quoting myself?) was basically a cruder version of your post.

Anyway, to answer at least a part of my own question: I don't think that we here are either too harsh on them when some of us express dissatisfaction with "the drought" (starting to hate that word) and neither do I think that we're babying them (at least not too much). We're just balancing on the thin line between the two and it's quite interesting to watch. Thanks for the replies everyone

oh, no problem! I totally get that it was being used as a shortcut. I just wanted to add a disclaimer to my use of it. i do agree there are definite moments where the creator-fan relationship does become unhealthily unbalanced, but I just don't want to presume I know for each person when that is! :^)

I don't quite think that this forum babies them too much, especially not compared to other branches of phandom. I think having concern for them as a fan who likes to see them doing well is natural, as you said, but it also doesn't eradicate my annoyances. They still could have pre-filmed more. They still could be using social media more, and better, to make us feel included. They are grown men who took this schedule on knowingly, who only have to survive it a couple of months, and who are being compensated beyond well for the temporary suffering.

Yes, exactly. I feel for them and want them to be well and i wouldn't want them to make videos/do liveshows when they are ill or too exhausted.
However, that doesn't mean i won't be annoyed if we are really sliding into a content drought. They planned this tour and it was predictable that they would be exhausted during it. Hell, people on here commented countless times that they were conncerned about how they would deal with such a full schedule MONTHS ago.
Knowing that it would have been their job to make sure they have some kind of content lined up. If they do things like the Brits, the radio or Dan's documentary, i give them a pass, because it is unrelated to youtube, but the tour is a direct result of their youtube videos. There would be nobody in the audience if it wasn't for their youtube videos and i don't think it's ok to neglect their channels for it.
Instead they left the filming for the gaming channel untill the last minute, the time untill the next gaming video will show us how much they actually filmed, because i guess they plan to upload them with equal time between. That's why we haven't gotten agario, even though the spoiler was already in the last video. I hope we get one every week, but i have little hope for it. Please prove me wrong!

So, tl;dr, i understand that they aren't creating content right now and i understand if we don't get a liveshow, but that doesn't mean i can't be pissed, because they could have prepared better.

However, i also don't want to judge too quickly, because it's just been a week, maybe they have a lot lined up yeah right, i guess we'll see

And to suggestions it may just be lighting - why doesn't Dan look so sick then? Maybe cos he's not as naturally pale? I dunno I can see maybe it exacerbated things but its not just his puffiness and complexion that stuck out to me. Its his facial expressions too - they're pained, no classic Phil 'deer in headlights' look and his actual mouth is different when he smiles if you compare to even the M&G before - its tighter and just less natural.

I'd agree there's a fine line to walk between heartless consuming and patronising babying of two very able grown men. I think we walk that line very well on IDB; not to dismiss the younger demographic but you do just have less of a thick skin when you're a kid (or I did at least). When I was 13 being ill was like a big deal and I got taken care of and by proxy thought my faves deserved the same treatment. These days, having gone to board meetings with bronchitis and laryngitis at the same time because shit needed to get done, my attitude has obviously changed lol. I imagine that's the case for most of us here hence our balance. So I don't necessarily blame the younger 'defence squad' but I'm glad we're a little more realistic here

Equally I still care about them and their wellbeing so seeing Phil looking like death warmed up is pretty sad

In England it tends to be rolling contracts when you rent, so you'll sign up for 6 months or a year and then just roll the contract over, I signed mine for a year and I've been here ages now, my landlord needs to give me 2 months notice if they want to evict me and I need to give one month notice if I want to leave. It's interesting the amount of people who think they've bought the flat, I think you're underestimating how expensive property in London is, whilst they may be fairly rich and have the two of them to contribute to the cost of the mortgage (assuming they didn't buy it outright) the deposit alone would be a hell of a lot of money, it's a large two bed flat in what I'm assuming is a fairly central part of London, I'd guess their rent alone must be a few thousand pound a month. Also, whoever said the landlord randomly entering is illegal is correct, I was surprised when I saw that as they do have to give you 24hrs notice and also the fact he entered without even knocking or ringing the bell is weird as fuck I'd go mental if my landlord did that.

But if the rent is so expensive doesn't it give them another reason to buy an apartment or a house rather then spending it on a place where they won't get anything out of it? If Zoella&Alfie and Jim&?Tanya? can buy a luxurious house with their income I'm sure deppy won't have a problem affording it. The flat they live in as of now sure is huge and must be very expensive to rent, given as you say London flats cost a lot. this makes me wonder whatever their family members have given them advice or suggested them to buy a place. I infact would advice my sons or brother to buy a place rather then spend money on a flat... which makes me go in a daydream of them sitting down and having this conversation with their parents lmao

IMO, there's a difference between being a random person who happens to be Phan trash, and being a famous youtuber that yes, he admitted shipping the pairing, but he is also a work colleague. One thing is to make a random, cheeky reference to Phan in a video (like Pewds), and one thing is submerge yourself in the depths of the phandom to support it and actually out them.
