I'm sorry, I found it half-assed. I waited for the jokes to come, but they were predictable, as was his advice as well and anyways why is he giving studying tips? Trying to be relatable? Because god knows he's not doing any exams.
I don't think he achieved a balance between tips, jokes and the irony.... But that's just me. Maybe i'm grumpy, because I'm usually Dan trash all the way.

i'm going to interpret dan's little joke about his youtube career flopping and having nothing to go back on as one of those times where he's telling a joke that also has some truth to it. as much as i envy youtube personalities, there's no job security at all.

I really liked the video even if I can't relate to the whole exams thing. I had faith that he would make something fun and with quality and I'm glad I'm not proved wrong! The jokes were really enjoyable for me and all in all I grade it a good video. And I applaud him for doing something that elaborate with all the angles/camera positions changes while on tour. i might just be in 'new content' high tho
it didn't felt rushed at all for me, and I feel like the advice is good even if it all was said before millions of times by parents/teachers, hearing it from someone they admire won't hurt the younger audience.

I agree that the humor was a bit forced. Except for the last part, when he mentioned not having job security which was funny because it was a little too true. . Not that it matters, because he's still rich as fuck off the merch and tour so he's got enough saved up for a rainy day. I've always wondered if Dan actually ships Johnlock or just brings it up to be relatable and because he knows his audience will eat it up. I hope he actually does ship Stucky, but I guess we'll never know.

Psh where are my fellow Stucky shippers. I expected more of you to be in the fandom. Steve and Bucky are two best bros with homoerotic subtext, after all.

The video lacked creativeness and it just came of forced. AND why would a soon to be 25 year old university drop out want to give kids advice for their exam? OR why would kids want to take his advice?

I actually really liked the video. Maybe his tips weren't ground breaking but as some people said the other day (?) there just aren't any studying tips we haven't heard (and ignored) before. It was funny, it had sketches, it made me laugh out loud several times. I'm satisfied for now

Ahhh content. Listen, this isn't directed at me, I have no exams. But it made me laugh (mpreg, my bare nipples, the toilet scene for some reason) and actually using the hotel room for better skit effect, yes yes. Though the Sherlock/John joke didn't land for me because my mind immediately went to jumping off a building, not making out with someone.

But look at the effort that went into this; this (and the anime vid) give me hope that his skit days aren't over and he can do some great stuff once this tour is finally done. Maybe I'm too easy, but I'm satisfied with this, even if that's mainly because of it stoking expectations for the future? The subject was obviously an easy choice cop out but as someone said awhile back, that's understandable considering the majority of the people he's been interacting with for the past month are students asking for advice. though maybe try google instead

And he confirmed he isn't going anywhere YT-wise (which has been a nagging concern I'll admit). Now I'm more excited for the end of the tour instead of just anxious about them disappearing (beyond the expected post-tour hibernation I mean).

I absolutely loved that, it's like he's been brewing up all his expressive humour craziness for ages and let it out in a huge, wonderful burst. I don't notice anything feeling forced or references being out of date, he just makes me laugh so much when he does this type of video and he's so fast with so many great facial expressions

I love the tie too very spiffy and red, white & blue. It's a while since he's dressed as a schoolkid and he seems too old and big for it now. The last few times weren't that long ago especially the Spoilers video, I think now he's done all this touring across the world pretending to be a kid stuffed into a school uniform seems a big step backwards. Would he really be lost without YouTube? They've done all the radio work, presented things, voice acting... he'll be fine with an agent, a brain and some effort.

That song was funny, I hope by now he's heard of Tom Lehrer and his patter-song The Elements even if he hadn't back then. Funny to hear the full story and context of that bit with his friend-the-bully saying "I want to learn!" At least Dan was being annoying with subject-related info and not just pratting around, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to be near him with that going on.

Only thing I could do without, as usual, is the self-deprecation. I'm not sure if a little here and there would be funny and in line with the act, but he does it so much it mostly just detracts from what he's just done, almost makes me wonder if I shouldn't enjoy it so much if it's that rubbish. It's good and he might actually realise it for all we know, possibly just trying to be #relatable not over-confident and overdoing it

I am still high from that video but I've watched it twice and I love it both times.

I actually laugh out loud at different points in the video especially the one with studying few weeks before. I was a straight A student in school and also a university drop out, so it feels so #relatable from both ends. Maybe that's why I love it.

Anyway, yes to gator girl's hat, yes to johnlock reference but damn it, Daniel, Stony > Stucky, and that will never change.

how many people have tweeted them about the single bed situation. Is anyone looking out for responses? (I can't stand twitter or I may be tempted to look myself) Maybe they will the whole thing. Or insist that there as two beds.... Instead of just saying they have separate rooms. If they say separate rooms that will be the first reference since they were looking for apartments in London I think. I am Interested to see what happens.

I don't think they're going anywhere but Dan saying Youtube was all he had was kinda weird to me, because if you really think about it and are really truthful, at this point Youtube is NOT all he has. If he stopped making videos for 6 months, he'd probably still have 6 months of a steady income flow from the book, merch, existing video views, and upcoming tour movie. He's acting like he doesn't already know that. Their schedules are slower because they know that they can afford to slack off with all the income they get from the above mentioned. I don't mean to be negative but I feel like it was kinda weird for him to say YT is all he has but then again I see the flip side of it which is that all of the above stemmed from his YT career...I think it would've been more accurate to say something like "you guys are all i have" giving credit to his viewers, like YT alone isn't all you have, it's the viewers that watch you AND buy your stuff.

I watched the video with a neat pile of class notes waiting on my desk A nice video overall, not one of his best but well! Random thoughts:

The advise to check how your exam will be rated is actually helpful for some people though, imo. I remember it took me forever to find out that i should find old exams BEFORE studying. It optimizes the amount of time spent per exam and that's important for people like me who start studying way too late. But maybe i was just slow to catch on

It wasn't helpful to me of course, because i don't have exams anymore, but it was funny, so no complaints. I don't even blame him for making a video about something that's obviously not a part of his life. Wherever he finds inspiration is fine with me, as long as i laugh.
And it's a sletch style dinof video, so i'm happy-dancing anyway

I actually enjoyed his video. I like that he bought some sketches into the video as I always enjoyed them in his older videos. Although the video may not be aimed at me because I'm old af, I'm pretty sure it'll help the majority of his fanbase who are of school age. Even if it seemed forced in some places, at least it'll help someone prepare for exams and come on, it could have been an Internet support group video so I'm grateful. It would be nice if he did something next for the older fans amongst us, seeing as both him and Phil are self employed it would be great if they did a video about setting up your own business, paying bills, being independent, paying taxes etc.

Also, just as a mod action, can I please remind people not to use the small text as its really difficult for people to read, especially those who are visually impaired. cheers
