I mean, sitc is a mess, but always make sure to attent these main events so I wouldn't worry just yet. tbh I worry for when they are big enough that it's too many screaming/pushing/crying fans to fit into an event and make panels useless tbh they are halfway there, I know that at some point they won't fit into an convention like that but I think we still have ways to go

I think that if D&P get "too big" the conventions should just get bigger to match them. It's a shame that bigger youtubers aren't going to these conventions because of the sheer amount of fans and that ties back to my original point that YT conventions are going downhill. I don't think it's just the youtuber's faults for not going, I now see after all you lovely people responded that part of it is the conventions' faults for not being able to accommodate or organize so many people. I think it's possible to hold a bigger convention and organize it, isn't that what comic con does?

who knows though, maybe someday D&P will have their own convention

yep. A friend of mine who used to be in the phandom volunteered at sitc in 2014 and according to her everyone dreaded doing the D&P meetup because their fans were renowned for being difficult to deal with. The organisers are probably glad they won't be there.

+ maybe if bigger YouTubers stop going it'll give exposure to smaller content creators and help them grow. We can dream.

At Playlist this year, their screeching exuberant (young) fans weren't too bad - but then again, D&P were not on a panel - just their shows and the M&G.

The new security measures that will be enforced at VidCon - although necessary to deter copycats - sound like they won't be too much fun for the attendees. I considered going at the last minute, but now I don't feel like spending a ton of money just to be held behind riot fencing, and not being able to talk to youtubers after the panels are over (which you could do at Playlist.) Part of the charm of these conventions is to get up close and personal with the youtubers, and that experience sadly has become a victim of the zealots and psychopaths...
