Basically, up until now, citizens of EU countries have had the right to travel, live and work in any EU country.

I'm a bit suspicious about the deal they cut with YouTube - I'm now thinking that they signed over the video rights to the TATINOF show performance for YouTube to exclusively exploit in any form, in perpetuity, in exchange for paying for the production services and possibly the rental of the Dolby Theater.

Ever since reading this today I've wanted to reply but have only just got home and wanted to use my laptop to type something as it might be long.

This really got me thinking, especially the bit I have bolded. I wonder if they've always known that they were going to use YTR as a platform for TATINOF which is why they didn't mention anything about it when the uproar first happened about YTR last year. It got me thinking all the way back to the beginning of the tour when the #nospoilers shit started up. I always found it incredibly weird that they were putting on this massive show and were restricting what the phandom could say about it, making sure that security and people working in the venues looked out for anyone who might have dared to take a photo of the show. Surely, with something like this, something they even said they wanted to work out well because the UK leg of the tour was to ensure that it would be popular enough to take overseas they'd want some promotion for. Word of mouth and reviews of things really help to sell, I'm not saying they couldn't have asked people not to film the whole show, but literally some venues had staff like vultures looking for anyone daring to even get their phone out to send a text.
They did the thing they're very good at, getting the phandom to police themselves - people were outraged when anyone ever dared to mention anything about it because "Dan and Phil had said no spoilers". Is this why Dan made his SPOILER ALERT video, to start that early policing that they knew they'd inevitably need when tatinof started, I mean I can probably give you at least 10 youtube comments on that video saying "same Dan, I hate spoilers too".
The whole thing sits very strangely with me, I wonder if the no spoilers thing was because they just weren't allowed because they had this deal with google/youtube. I still want to know why they went to the effort of setting up all those cameras, mics and removing seats from the last London shows to film it, if they're not going to be using any of the footage from it. Was the footage not good enough for YTR hence why they've now filmed it in Hollywood too.

I hope that doesn't make it sound like I think D&P are bad people, I don't think they are at all. I just found it interesting on reading that comment and it got me thinking about why they would really be so outspoken with the #nospoilers thing.

Or it could just be that they didn’t want people to spoil it for other people. I’ve read a few reviews that said that they wished that they hadn’t looked up spoilers, because they would have liked it better without knowing certain things going into it. Had they not policed it at all, tumblr would have been full of spoilers that people couldn’t really avoid, because people are not good at tagging stuff, and there are people out there that really do not want to be spoiled.

Also venues themselves often don’t allow people to film or record anything, it is usually up to the venue how strict they police that stuff and not necessary Dan and Phil. I know that when I saw Hamlet at the Shakespeare’s globe, security was really tight as well and we were constantly looked at to make sure we didn’t film anything. Same goes for musicals that I’ve seen here in the Netherlands.

Or maybe it is a little of both.

I have the feeling almost all British Youtubers and especially the film makers are salty in regards to Dan and Phil no matter what they do.

I agree with you that this whole thing might sound bad for someone who's just peeking at this but I always am impressed about how smart these two are, I know we joke a lot about they being awkward (true tbh) and that they don't deal well with some things (like the rushed twitter announcement by Dan) but at the end of the day we know that they truly know how the phandom works and how to deal with us.

Yeah...I mean, I'm definitely surprised (I remember watching her liveshow out of curiosity and she said she'd like to come to tatinof when they came to the US) but I'm not angry. So after a day of being pissed at 52% of my country I thought 'I know, I'll log on IDB and see what wrap party pics we dug out, that'll be a good distraction' and NOTHING. We've got a number of high class highly-trained Sherlocks amongst us, and nada.

Tour exit polls are swinging towards the phandom choosing a return to normalcy, with the remainder voting for axing Deppy from Youtube altogether. The latter feel fewer collabs would be beneficial to Deppy since the collaborators in question don't deserve the views they're bringing in, only Deppy deserve anything good in this world. And hey, they could take subscribers back to their channel with them, and who wants to share the wealth right? Emma Blackery and Evan Edinger are currently front runners to take over the respective channels. Nobody voted for this because nobody likes them, but that's fine. We'll be fine. Fine.
