The phandom might be quiet now, but once new videos start again there will be new people to replace the fallen fans right away. Deppy have always been forgiven by the majority of their fans, seemingly no matter what they do, and as long as they restart with their old upload schedule I don't think much will change.

I do agree with that - I think if they can slide back into their old upload schedule then things will revert back to normal. It just depends on if they actually do that or not.

It's not so much just there not being a video last week, it's a culmination of the gradual increase of time between videos that's been building for the past year (some would probably argue more than that, since the book was even announced) - and the issue of whether they actually plan on going back to their 2014-esque updating schedule or if that time of regular reliable video posting is gone. They could probably coast on livestreams, I think they have done that for a while - but those have gotten drastically less frequent and in Phil's case, shorter when he does do one.

I don't think the phandom is dying, though. I'm not that maudlin - plus the issue of Dan and Phil's draw being the relationship as much as the content will keep the bulk of people interested.

I'm going to be personally offended if they didn't do more collabs than those two. The React vid was boring AF and I honestly don't know if I'm even going to be able to watch the Nerdy Nummies one. I can't remember who it was here that said her personality is like nails on a chalkboard, but that was so spot on lol. I can't stand her voice and persona. You went all the way to the US, leave us with a content drought and didn't do any decent collabs? Ugh. I wasn't even that annoyed about the US tour but if this is what we're getting I'm pissed. I love how everybody was bitching about the drought during their LA break, then a little sympathy / slack was cut for jet lag, and now everybody's back to bitchin' Seriously, that in itself is entertaining.

I will say that Joe Sugg has managed to post material fairly regularly / often while shooting #HTRUSA - but that boy works his butt off (probs to pay a massive mortgage.)

However, I don't mind the drought at all, and completely understand. I want them to feel comfortable with their production schedule, and I'd rather not have them burn themselves out just to feed worms to demanding chicks. JFC, they just finished a two month tour with only a few days off, and even some of those had travel built into them. They deserve (and have earned) any amount of rest that they feel is necessary for their health and sanity.

on topic of collabs I think that Phil's collab with Connor and the one with Jim went really well, I would love to see Phil collab with Jim again, I really liked their dynamic.
One thing that's quite touchy but I'm going to speak about it it's 7sc collabs, while I love the game and it always makes me laugh I'm quite tired of it being the go-to to collabs that they didn't have much time to prepare for, if they did any collabs I hope there wasn't any 7sc game ones

I'm on the other side of the fence here, because I really hope that they didn't do a lot of collabs. Those usually do not end up being my favorite videos of them, not by a long shot. Although I am always in for a collab with Tyler, but I can live without any other ones.
Also I assume that they filmed more react videos, so it won't just be these two vids anyway. Hopefully they reacted to something interesting in the other ones.

Everything I say is in jest, IckleMissMayhem, with some sweet truth lurking in the underbelly. It's been quite awhile since I've felt a real connection to deppy, mostly due to the lack of liveshows, DITLs, or LAPs-- any kind of true representation of what is actually going on in their lives and/or brains, not just filler or box-checking tweets. But, let's face it, the two are the most charismatic, charming people in the world, and we will all soon be back to batting our lashes and hanging their mugs in our lockers.

Yes, alittledizzy, we could probably use some therapy in this one-sided relationship. I mean, my needs are mostly met because I have never been in this for the content. When I first got interested in deppy (18 months ago?) I couldn't stand Dan, nor could I see the alure. I thought he was annoyingly fake and rude to Phil. I finally feel like I can see through the mask into the real Dan a bit, and he seems to be just as sweetly sentimental and enchanting as Phil. I feel like he has really been embracing his true self lately, which leaves me to be content with the status quo. So, in my world, I am okay with their lack of content because they seem so exceedingly and happily content with themselves at the moment.

I'm really amused about how opinions on Ro/Nerdy Nummies are polarizing people in the phandom, I can only see people talking about how they love or hate her, there is anyone who doesn't mind her but don't particularly like her content for her content (not voice or personality)?

I don't mind her persona much at all. I feel she's way too old for the persona sometimes (Should I say the same for Phil's? I think Phil's is a lot more mature, though. He feels sort of school teacher to me, in a way? But I think he's slowly shifting away from it.), but I'm not someone who dislikes all her content. I like to see how to make some of the things she bakes. What I don't like particularly are her vlogs, because of the ads, or the ones where she does multiple recipes at once because it feels kind of cluttered to me.

I feel like I'm one of the only ones here who's looking forward to the collab with Deppy for all of them together than just for content. I'm very interested to see how huge they look next to her and how they interact. I also really want to see what they'll make from which fandom.

Also, I wish Louise hadn't lost that footage. I love their collabs with her

We're kinda moving on from this subject but walls of text where I bitch about Deppy are my speciality.

A while ago I said that D&P had to be careful as to not grow to comfortable with their status because it wasn't gonna last forever especially at the rate they were going content wise. But now I see that it has already happened, and it makes me sad that they thought it'd be okay to rely on the phandom without really giving us anything in return for so long (and I'm not talking about just the US tour here, I'm talking January 2015 up till now). They really took advantage of their audience, and it pisses me off. I thought they had more respect for us than that.

They're basically fucking themselves over because now people are getting bored and moving on to other YouTubers or even completely different fandoms. It's their own damn fault, they've been creating a wall between themselves and their audience for a long time now. They don't have to share everything but I feel like my 'bond' with D&P as a viewer has become less and less personal over the past four years, and while I know that personal connection is just an illusion it's still a nice one and necesarry to keep an audience interested. It's honestly not even difficult to keep the phandom entertained but they still managed to screw it up. Upload a little more (and actually put in some effort), tweet and blog some more, post selfies and shit. Get into new popular social media like Snapchat and Periscope. But for people whose job is literally social media and internet presence they really suck at it. Plus they upload usually half hearted videos like once a month and abandoned a hyped up gaming channel that doesn't really deserve the amount of subs it has. And jfc DAPG could've added years to their current status but they chose a book and tour over that... *headdesk* That's how you kill your YouTube career. Now they've probably peaked and they don't show any signs of wanting to really get back into it so what are we gonna do?

This won't just affect their YouTube career either. The reason they get their little radio and hosting gigs is still us; the dedicated phandom who will support everything they do and watch anything they're in. It's not their skills that's for damn sure.

Yeah I might be a bit more dramatic and pessimistic than what the current situation calls for rn but let me live. I had a day.

I do agree with that - I think if they can slide back into their old upload schedule then things will revert back to normal. It just depends on if they actually do that or not.

That's not how it's gonna work forever though and they need to realize that asap. They've grown comfortable. There are always new YouTubers who a new audience can relate to better than D&P rising and who could take their spot. They can't keep up this attitude towards their work or it will end them eventually.

I too don't mind her persona, I have just seen her in one baking video with Markiplier though. That wasn't too bad. Not something I would subscribe to I don't think, but wouldn't turn it off immediately if it happened to auto play. I could see how her voice and personality could become grating however. It was interesting to see her with Markiplier.

First thing I noticed, she stood on something to make her closer in height. Which I suspected she would do with the boys as well. Being tall myself and having done things (in front of an audience) with shorter cast members it is pretty much the norm, when applicable. Otherwise the audience look like they are watching some weird horizontal tennis match.

I will be interested to see their dynamic (as well as excited for content). I think it will be a fun/ funny video. She has a sense of humor and doesn't completely aim it to children, just maybe a tad schoolmarm-esque. Her comedic timing isn't great from what I saw, and took a joke and rammed it into the ground by over use. I hope the boys can subtly reel that aspect in, where Mark just went with it.

After seeing her in a react video though, I saw that she is open minded and was one of the few YouTubers to not be offended by the video they were subjected to. (either "Shrek is love, Shrek is life" or "Racist Mario") In my mind her reaction showed me a part of her personality I like. She may seem prim and proper and oh so sweet, but can take a joke and participate in adult/semi-problematic humor with out clutching at her shirt collar whilst crossing herself. (something Phil also is said to be like. i.e. Our sweet cinnamon roll/angel bean winning Cards Against Humanity)

I just literally loled at work (which is dead silent too) imaging that. You're right, that's much more plausible I kind of imagined Dan holding it up and looking at the camera, then at Phil, and Phil kind of glancing at it and then at the camera, too. I had an image in my head of them doing a certain look at each other from some other video, but I doubt I could find a gif of it.
