things like these remind me of how young Dan is. Both Terminator movies were kind of a big thing in my childhood. Phil isn't that much older, but he somehow has to some extent the same childhood movie memories as me (maybe because he has an older brother?). Dan never having seen the original Star Wars films until recently was a bit shocking, tbh, and now Terminator as well? What about the Alien movies?

I loved the live show. Dan's liveshows can be interesting, but in the end I always feel kind of exhausted, Phil's always leave me with a happy feeling.

And we all wonder where his crippling anxiety over his output comes from? Anyway back on topic now, the dil video was ... nice. I don't know why I was expecting something unusual to happen during the wedding since people were saying that Dan said something out of ordinary would take place but nothing that unusual happened. I'm not that much into marriages anyway so it might explain a bit my boringness throughout the video. But I liked the video somewhat and probably will watch it again. I'm more looking forward to Dil and Tabitha to have children though .

I think Dan was expecting Drama because weird stuff usually happens in the sims. They don’t generally have to engineer it, the game is just weirdly unpredictable, and this time the unpredictable thing was the lack of weirdness. They could have made Drama out of the lack of cake (you can see that they built an extra kitchen after buying the cheff’s station, and possibly either hired an additional caterer or made Dil or Tabbitha bake the cake themselves, because they said that Mia Yang hadn’t done anything), but chose to cut that part in editing. Probably they didn’t want the video to be too long, but personally I think it’s a shame – I would have liked to watch them frantically buying kitchen appliances.

I think the decision to age up Tabitha was more to do with game mechanics than PCness or their own views on age gaps in relationships. Given that they’re playing this for the entertainment of others and need to be in control of the story they’re telling, I think they probably turned off aging (which you can do very easily at any time in the game settings) shortly after Dil’s birthday. The next age block after Adult is Elder, and they can’t have him spontaneously turning into an elder before they’re ready for him to have kids; they have to keep control of the story progression. If ageing is off, Tabitha won’t age either, unless they age her up like they did in the video. If they’ve done what I think they’ve done, both sims are now frozen at or near the start of the Adult life stage. When Dan and Phil are ready, they can set lifespan to short (or medium, or long), turn aging back on, wait, and then go “oh no, he’s going to be an elder in 3 days, there’s nothing we can do we have to make him live his dreams before he’s old!”.

If I was them I’d have Dil and Tabitha have kids, bring the kids up, age them up to YAs and then move the kids out into their own homes but keep the story following Dil and Tabitha. Dil and Tabitha age and die, and they can end the let’s play there if they want to because they’re not following the lives of the children. A lot of people are looking forward to watching Dan and Phil raise a digital child from the child stage. They know that. I don’t think they’ll decide to disappoint.

Generally Sims will autonomously was their hands every time they use (or even flush) a toilet, unless you cancel the action. If Tabitha isn’t doing that she may have the Slob trait. I just tested this and slob sims do not autonomously flush the toilet or wash their hands after using it. Childish sims who aren’t slobs (we know Tabitha is childish because she can play with the Triceratops) do wash their hands and flush the toilet.

Yep, RE is religious education. Usually all about different religions. I got a prize in it one year and I think it was possibly because I was the only one in the whole class who behaved. Definitely thought of as not a proper subject.

For people who don't get the UK education system, Phil definitely did more GCSEs than just Art, German, Geography, English Language, RE. It's commonplace for students to do at least 8-10 GCSEs so he did more than this (definitely at least English Lit and Maths and some kind of science on top of the ones he named).
For GCSEs, everyone has to do Maths, Science, and English. The Science can be a combined science course which is worth two GCSEs, or the three sciences separately (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). Schools which divide students into different classes based on ability in the subject usually put the higher sets in for the more demanding separate science exams, and put the lower sets in for the combined science exams. In my school there were about 7 science classes in my year, and only the top two did the 3 sciences separately.
Phil is nearly 10 years older than me, so the rules on how much English is required may have changed slightly. What he said sounds a bit like everyone was required to do English Literature, and English Language was offered as an additional subject option. Or maybe everyone had to do English Language, and English Literature was an additional subject which he chose not to take. Maybe everyone got to choose between Literature and Language, but that seems less likely to me knowing how GCSE requirements usually work.

There was also a "Single-Award Science" which was 1 GCSE back when Phil would have been doing it. (That said, that was the easy option for the kids that struggled at my school, so...) And it's English Language (or, as written on my GCSE certificate "Speaking and Writing" that was the compulsory. MFL was also compulsory at the time too. (I'm old. One of you young'uns bring me my cane and slippers!)
Judging solely on the fact Phil went to a grammar school, he'd have been more than likely doing separate sciences, and 10 subjects minimum.

Consent:
A dark sense of humour does not fit all people and personalities. I joke a lot about suicide, depression, nihilism, existentialism, a lot of really grim topics that most people don't find funny. But this is where I draw a distinction: I don't joke about [x] because I find it funny, I joke about [x] because for me it's comforting and coping to make light of bad things in my life. I struggle with my own existence all the time. I need effort to lift my head off my pillow every day. Making a joke out of suicide makes it seem less like a threatening and serious cloud over my head. Fear of a topic only increases fear of the thing itself. If I can laugh at what scares me, ie. death, loneliness, loss, pain, then it's not so scary.
Kind of like laughing at a Boggart in your closet. I can understand why Dan jokes about it. The guy is subjected to a lot of things without his consent and he's not "allowed" to speak up about it honestly. His jokes on consent are always reminders that it's important. "I did not consent to this", "consent is important", "wow, consent". The victim of consent is never the butt of the joke and that's what is important.
Gender roles:
I understand what Dan meant. Even though at the end of the day it's just one night and a blip in the long life you'll live, stag/hen nights are very tacky overall. The men go and "spend their last night of freedom" with the lads at a strip joint or doing something wild and the women go to male dancer bars or take every pub in town or have vulgar/cheap accessories to signal "hey she's getting married". It's the expected thing to do, so I understand why Dan commented that Tabs and Dil's nights didn't really deviate from the expected norm. I found it unimportant overall to freak out about but I understood what he meant, especially coming from a very conservative area
Also re: someone mentioned his grandmother was religious/conservative, call me wrong but wasn't the rumour in the Unmentionable Place that his grandma was the only one who accepted his bisexuality? I remember discussing this at the time, like his parents never really accepted him (and neither did his brother due to the fame and what it invited) but his grandma always had a soft spot for him. Or maybe this is way off base and I'm waffling, as usual.
