Dan & Phil part 25: 15% depth, 75% bants

I feel like because Dan? I think? Said Undertale was coming in his last live show, the fact that it wasn't the next video and they released what looks like a pre-filmed one from at least a couple of weeks ago instead could suggest they're doing the Undertale week after all.

It was filler to give them time to film it all maybe lol. And I want Undertale, I love it. Gimmeeeee.

Undertale marathon? SIGN ME THE F*CK UP. To be honest, it would be fantastic if they live streamed it on Youtube, just to see what they can actually do without heavy editing.

Do you mean they will do Undertale week and Spooky week or they will only do the former only? Because I really like the idea of undertale week but I also really want another spooky week because I wanna see them do FNAF. But tbh, Undertale does get spookier further on so it can works on spooky week too, and they can finish it in one go.

I don't know, either way, sign me up too

I hope they do both. I love spooky week and I want them to play really scary games that make them jump and scream and make Dan fall out of his chair. Those are the games I enjoy the most because it's funny to see their reactions

But I also want to see Undertale because I want to know what happens next and I don't want to watch it on other channels because it might take away the fun in watching Dan and Phil play.
I'm a bit worry they'll replace spooky week with Undertale week. That would be so disappointing

I know Felix likes to push the boundaries of humour sometimes; I've really no idea how to read this and I've been a viewer of him for years and usually get him lol. It was really odd. But tbh his attitude and his content has been odd for a while now.

Didn't he and Jack already roast each other? This is just the sarcastic version of what Onion does. I do like that he is reinforcing the point that all these dramaqueens are just doing it for views. maybe if enough people say it the viewers will start to see it and not click on clickbaity pictures. idk.

Its interesting for the DnP part he didn't actually roast them, he roasted the phandom because that is where the views are.

I like that he addresses these things, he really tries to take his "power" responsibly, but he does it in such a roundabout way that if you aren't good at connecting metaphors, you don't understand what he is really saying. As we know lots of people do not understand subtleties.
(A lot of what he was saying was true though lol)

It doesn't really fit with the rest of the video? Everybody else got physical insults, content insults, but their comment wasn't directed at them, it was at the viewer. Why didn't he tell them they had stupid hair or shit content or something. Like the change in approach for them is weird. idgi
PJ got a soft joke (needs to be kicked) based on his name, so something for Phil like he's not actually amazing would have made sense.

Like I just feel uncomfortable, especially with the way Felix has been lately (getting back into using slurs and being more 'problematic' again [is he doing it ironically? because I think he's missing the mark quite a lot if so]), throwing that comment in, basically encouraging speculation on the nature of their relationship, and broadcasting it to millions of bro-y viewers... eh.... I understand jokes and he's just being a little shit, but they didn't really get the same treatment as the others, and it feels weird. Is it Not That Deep?

I wouldn't deeply analyze pewd's vid. The whole point was to say stupid shit about everyone. lol, I guess? Sometimes he's funny to me, this seemed a bit forced and late to the game.

Yeah, I mean it was aggressive yeah but that's kind of what Pewdiepie does it's his style, after all. I get what he means though, I think his message was just to stop asking because whoever doesn't know, can't answer and those who know an answer for definite certainly wouldn't out them/guarantee them not together/ guarantee one or both are straight because of obvious reasons

I kind of see a gif of pewdiepie circulating tumblr in an hour and people freaking out thinking the phandom has "overstepped boundaries" and are "being problematic to other YouTubers"

But like. "Shane Dawson: wishes he could come out twice." That was beautiful.

And, you know, I've hated whatever the fuck has been happening with Felix, I don't find most of it funny if humor's what he's going for, and I'm not sure if he's actually just trying to get attention or - what I'm guessing - he's just going through a YouTube identity crisis & his position at the very top is making him a bit - you know. Unstable.

That being said, Dan at least continues to have lovely things to say about him, which - if nothing else - makes me hope he's just this way on the internet.

That comment cannot be analyzed into a proper answer because it's surrounded by both truthful things and flat out nonsense. So that's something. But I feel like it legitimizes it as a question in some people's eyes, and that feels... iffy? Like. Plus, all the attention. I just don't want D&P to get forced out the closet because it becomes a huge part of the public YT conversation, I want them to choose to come out.

Felix also makes a comment about the "phans" coming for him at the end, so that's - weird. Also.

But like, am I gonna waste some cash to send Phil a message asking if he's seen it tonight? ...well, I'm considering it.

I feel like I am very different from most people here, so I actually enjoy this kind of Felix's content and humor. But it's interesting to me that quite recently, he became comfortable with Dan and Phil jokes again.

i found pretty much the entire video kind of uncomfortable tbh, but especially the d&p part bc it stood out from the rest
i've never really been a fan of him though so i'm probably not the best one to judge, but from what i've seen he seems to be doing a lot of weird shit lately? idk

also really late, but i kind of liked the latest dapg video, it wasn't like super high quality content or whatever but it was fun. and i didn't mind them being bad at it, i would probably be worse so. and since they've been pretty good at uploading lately i don't really mind a just like kind of fun and cute filler video.

kinda nervous about posting, wasn't sure where to post either - basically i've been 'lurking' for about a week now, all of you have such intriguing posts that are so (excuse this) indepth (lol) that i literally have spent my evenings just going through them all.
so just wanted to say hello, this is my first post, not sure if anyone will reply/see this but that's ok, just wanted to join because you all seem like lovely people and I wanted to be a part of it

also been watching d&p since October last year and i'm so glad there are people who are older that discuss them

(no disrespect to the fandom/younger fans)

anyway sorry for kind of long post and hope you're all doing well

(also hoping for ls today could do with some Phil to cheer me up)

Hi lishachi! Welcome out of lurking into the abyss which is I'm an older fan (phan) as well and have enjoyed being a part of this community. There's a wide range of ages and opinions, and I've always been impressed by what a positive place IDB is.

That's not to say everyone's always happy or that everyone agrees about deppy or their content -- there's been plenty of criticism and disagreement-- but I think it's generally presented in a constructive and respectful manner.

IDB has members with wonderfully wicked senses of humor, archivists who can find the most obscure pieces of history, and folks with some pretty impressive detective skills!

So join us in the -- there's plenty of room.

He's putting this out as a phrase to 'roast' them? So he's presenting this as Dan and Phil's attitude?

So he's presenting Dan and Phil as not telling viewers whether they are dating or not, as keeping it a secret that the viewers will 'never know', and as saying 'fuck you' to the viewers/phandom for wanting to know?

I think this does legitimate the question around Dan and Phil's relationship status since the mainstream/face-value answer is that they have consistently said they are not dating. By presenting them as not having answered the question, he is legitimating the view that there is a question. He's legitimating the idea that there is mystery around Dan and Phil's relationship status.

He's presenting them as being secretive, and as saying 'fuck you' to their viewers who want to know if they are in a relationship or not.

This is all a very negative presentation of Dan and Phil if you ask me.

But I don't care, because he's roasting them, it's meant to be a joke? Dan and Phil might get upset by it, and if they do I suppose I'll side with them on this. I think he's being out of line, but I get that it's a joke I don't really find it funny though

(I do think Dan and Phil were/are in a "relationship" and they are not telling us about it, but I don't interpret this as 'fuck you' or as 'being secretive' - I interpret it as a considered and reasonable reaction to the wish for privacy, to the wish to not be discriminated against or stereotyped and ultimately the wish to have their own say over how to publicly define their relationships, and freedom to choose what they label it).

I switch between really enjoying Pewdiepie's content and really hating it. On one hand I enjoy his honesty with his opinions regarding Youtube, and he has no problem calling out the bs and what many other Youtubers gloss over. One the other hand his humor can be in poor taste, and I agree with the person who mentioned that he's falling back on his slurs and "shock factor" humor

His behavior has been a bit erratic recently.
However, I thought this one was pretty funny. The Shane Dawson one was perfect since it's Pewdiepie I wouldn't read deeply into the Dan and Phil part. I just think he's mocking shipping culture because he did a video where he went through his tumblr tag and drank every time he saw D&P popped up. He doesn't know D&P as well as Emma or PJ, so he's using what he associates them with (phan) as the punchline.
