they can definitely socialise pretty well without each other, but it feels like whenever one leaves the other (usually dan) is shoved into new situations with new people that amplifies any awkwardness. with friends or at least acquaintances (youtubers they vaguely know/have met) i'm sure they'd be fine, but it doesn't really compare to being alone with actual celebrities you don't know without your human comfort blanket there as some kind of reassurance
my name is jaejmine masters and i have something to say. dan and phil have fucked up japan :japhan:

Honestly I do think that they are a little bit co-depended. I mean in one of the gaming videos Phil was all I need to tell you things, because I haven’t seen you in ten hours. That is a workday for some people. And they see each other so much, you would think they would be happy to spend some hours apart. Plus we know that Dan doesn’t do well if he is left alone at home, when Phil is gone. Now whether that is because Phil is not there, or because he just doesn’t like being alone, I wouldn’t know. I wonder how they would cope, had they actually spend a long time apart. I think they wouldn’t do too well. Still I don’t think that they can’t function completely without each other or something, but I do think they wouldn’t do as well. I’m not making a lot of sense.

I think Phil didn’t want to film a documentary on top of everything else they were doing. They were so busy, and he probably knows what he can handle, and I guess that was just too much. I can’t blame him, I wouldn’t have done it either. Still hope he will do one at some point.

For me, I totally understand the spending-lots-of-time-together type of relationship. I'm an introvert and enjoy spending time with the same people. When my sister is home, I'll hang out with her every day. (Though we go out and do things).
i don't side-eye it, because i can see why people romanticise it, but i project a lot of my relationship with my bff on to d&p's relationship. she moved to south africa 6 months ago (sob), but before that we lived together (for 8 years) and did everything together (& it's only now that i realise how much i relied on her for things). i spent more time with her than with my boyfriend, i even went on holiday with her rather than him because we had more fun haha! like i say though, i'm fully projecting my friendship, and thats probably why my phan googles are constantly misty.

I actually think this is probably much more likely than Phil not wanting to do a documentary. Dan was off filming at the height of their final book prep/tour planning phases, right? And we know from livestreams over the past couple of months that Phil handled most of the venue booking and details for the upcoming tour so it's likely during the time last year Dan would go off for the documentary, Phil was in the process of doing the same for the UK tour.

Anytime I'm reading through and have something to say about a certain topic, we've already somehow ended up 8 pages past it.

Oh well I'm gonna clarify what I'm sure people don't care about anyway

The PPG things were so cute. I'm like 99.99% sure it's not a spon, though. Literally EVERYBODY was doing it. As to why Dan posted the link with his, I think he just shared it through the website maker itself rather than saving the image and posting it on his own.
I find his so funny though, he went for an angry-bad-boy type thing rather than channeling the introverted-relatable-nerd guy. (And then he re-made it and that comparison is all too funny as well.) Meanwhile Phil got his cutesy-innocent vibe going.
I'm loving seeing everyone else's that they made of themselves here, too. Y'all are cute powerpuffs.

Also blah-blah catch up I think the craft video was funny w/e

I could read all of your Phil analysis for hours upon hours you guys go hard

In relation to the codependency thing, at the risk of getting too person and tragic, codependency in general really terrifies me, I was in a really crappy relationship that was based around that and it was gross and controlling and all around awful and has sort of left me stilted in that department. That being said, sometimes I'll see fan creations or discussions that romanticize how cute their supposed codependency is, and it just freaks me out and gives me an uncomfortable vibe. (That being said, I'm totally open to the idea that nobody thinks of it as a dramatic thing like I do and I'm totally biased and weird about it. My gut reaction is always just "that's super unhealthy plz no")
Idk I don't think they're quite codependent (as least that we can tell, because WHO HONESTLY KNOWS.) They hint at being a bit awkward without the other, but I think that's a thing a lot of people can relate to in regards to their friend or S/O not being with them. We've still seen plenty of times Phil going to hang out with his own friends (Phil at the club, anyone?) and Dan going off on his own (times with pewdiepie and the concert vlog.)

Simultaneously after all of that, I am actually quite envious of their relationship with each other. As soppy and awful as it sounds, I always ask myself if/when I'll ever be able to find someone that I click so well with like that.

If I'm getting too deep/personal/controversial lemme know and I'll tone it down I feel like I'm gonna regret this post for some reason lol

This is a good post
I agree with what you said, though I don't personally really have any experience with codependent relationships. It's one of those things where when it's not handled with care, things become all messy and problematic. Like, sure, make a fic about D+P missing each other when the other goes away (i read dizzy fic i believe like this, and that was adorable), but then to act like it is atrocity when D+P are half a room away from each other is such a stretch. Or like when Dan did the documentary and there were people saying that they felt weird that Phil was not doing it with him. (There are other cringe phandom examples)

Yeah I think that sounds about right to me. I do think that Phil handles a lot of the behind the scenes stuff, things we don't really know about, but sure keeps him busy. And since they are producing this tour themselves, they have a lot of thing to handle. They are probably way busier than we think. So from Phil's perspective I get that he didn't want to add even more things to the list. Besides they are allowed to do things on their own.

I somehow can understand from this gifs why people says deppy are like the same person in real life. That eyebrow thing that he did (I have no idea what this is called in english, sorry) is exactly the same Dan did when he was being cheeky.

re: co-dependancy

ommgGG, is there anything more frustrating than the phandom sometimes?

i used to follow this rlly big tumblr blog that while ~incredibly~ talented ignored/excused ALL problematic dan and phil behaviors and idolized them- by that i mean they forced DnP into a caricature of their personalities, and a bunch of other annoying things- but LORD. the most annoying thing they do is that they endorse for lack of a better word dan and phil having this cutesy codependency and how sweet it is- like. no.

NooOOOooOOOOOOOOOOOOoo. codependency is not healthy. i admire their relationship, bc it is sweet and something i am envious of, but they aren't freakishly codependent, they can survive without the other, its just more comfortable to be with eachother- they are creatures of habit *imo*

also, all the phil posts were really interesting and insightful!!

majitzub ;) that phil gif. gahdamn

This has nothing to do with anything, but I'm watching an old radio show and I just had to share.

Apparently, back when D&P moved into their Manchester apartment, the previous owners left two items behind: a meat cleaver, and a pair of pink fluffy handcuffs under Dan's bed. [Pause for laughter]
Dan: These aren't novelty handcuffs, 'cus I know you can get- umm, I'm not gonna say- *sidelook at Phil* I know you can get- *back to the camera* pink fluffy plastic handcuffs that, you know, they're toys
Phil: Yeah
Dan: These were metal handcuffs
Phil: Very weird
Dan: Bright pink, metal fluffy handcuffs under the bed
Phil: I was a bit scared
Dan: It was that and a meat cleaver, were the only two objects left at the apartment
Amazing.

Sidenote, but aren't sex toy handcuffs usually in metal? I mean I guess they can be made out of plastic too, but there most certainly isn't anything unusual about them being metal, like come on guys. Seriously questioning your kink factor now u vanilla motherfckers.

(Here's a link to the radioshow, though I'm afraid you can't watch it without downloading it. 19:31 is the timestamp if you do.)

I'm not reliving a horrible memory of purple fluffy handcuffs, still attached to the headboard when showing my dad around my flat a few years ago.

Yeah, it's at those times I wish I had one of those MIB neuralyzer things. Nice that you feel my pain.

I think they were talking about their flat in Manchester and Phil's bed came with their London flat.

I found it interesting that he picked his wedding finger as the one to be cut off. It's at 1:15. Did someone have commitment issues? :D This was pre-Dan I believe.

1:44 is what that GIF is from btw.

Jesus this reminded me that my friend one time came to my place and saw my vibrator, she ask me if i can gave it to her, and i was like "?!??!11!! But I've used it", and she said "it's okay i will clean it, i bought one online but it takes to long for it to deliver." So i gave it to her.

Wow, do share!

For their codependency, i think they are not crazy codependent, but to mee they are still a little bit too codependent on each other, especially if they see each other as security blanket.

If we rate codependency from 1 to 5
1) Completely independent, but it's nice hanging out with my friend
2) Pretty independent, but having my friend close to me makes me feel more confident
3) Mostly independent, sometimes I need my friend to help me out
4) Not very independent, I'm not good at doing it alone, I really need my friend
5) Completely codependent, I cannot function without my friend

I think deppy are around 2-3, still not very ideal.

What do you guys think?
