The internet sexualises everything so kink as word doesn't seem relevant, the rest of the line seems pretty relatable, everyone feels good when friends listen and appreciate you. I agree that they are gigant trolls but in this case it's more one of those generic phrases that the majority of people would relate to.

There's no way Dan read something like that - reblogged a post saying affection from his friends is his kink - without knowing people would read it as about Phil.

If he knew people would read it as about Phil, and he reblogged it anyway, he is fuelling phan.

Probably Dan did realise, when adding it to his queue, that it would be over-analysed by the non-tumblr portion of his audience, but I don't think that was his intention when re-blogging. To me it is a post about insecurity, and valuing re-assurance so highly that it is more important to you than sex.

(in my understanding the "kink:" meme can also be used to self-depricatingly imply that you do not have much of a sex life, or much hope of having sex, but I'm not sure about that, can anybody else verify?)

But we know from TATINOF that he does have insecurities and it's a curious look at this perhaps being a threshhold, like he's okay laughing at his clumsiness once in a while but it's embarrassing to reveal how regularly it happens. I don't know that I think it's Dan directly hinting but I think it is a further sign that at this point they're less inclined to overanalyze what they put out there/care less about the implications when it's something they're directing at a smaller core audience. There's no way Dan reblogged that without realizing people would apply it to himself talking about Phil, and there's no way he didn't recognize the sexual component inherent in just saying "kink." But he reblogged it anyway. The same way he's far more inclined to tell cute stories in a livestream or like a wink-wink-nudge-nudge tweet or tumblr post.

The thing that hits the widest audience are still main channel videos. The things with the least amount of the real Dan and Phil in them are still main channel videos. The rest? They're fairly lax on. I think I enjoy the idea that they stress less over it more than I would actual hints.

This right here. Thank you I use tumblr and this is how I interpret this. I have one on my blog that says "My fetish is cuddling by the fire place", its not meant to be sexual, but to say that cuddling and being cared for are more important than sex.

MOre interesting is what tag was he scrolling through that he found so much pastel softness and sweet sayings that he resonated with. Everything he re-posts already has lots of notes before he ever posts it which makes me think its the most popular stuff under one subject hes looking through. Maybe he was listening to his lullabyes and feeling soft and researching pastel themes??

My favorite things is looking into the source of the posts he reblogs. Lots of times its homosexual body builders who mostly post selfies with their boyfriends and memes about being gay lol. Very entertaining. Sadly there is no way of knowing if this is coincidence due to tag or if these are the people he follows.

Part 1 - This post did happen on his hello internet anniversary, so it could have just been a way to say thank you to everyone who has believed in him. I would imagine he was a bit emotional/nostalgic.

Part 2 - Pastel edits are just wearing light colors and soft fabrics and maybe painting your nails and dying your hair in pastel colors. The reason I don't think it will happen is unless they did the hair/nails it would be a very short video of just them wearing sweaters lol. I doubt they are willing to bleach and dye their hair, and the spray was a disaster, so all that is left is nail painting. I would be very happy with a nail painting video, but it's really just not interesting to them so...

People can just rewatch the easter baking video imo.

This is a good point too. Even though I use tumblr I have never seen this type of post before, I'm not familiar with the meme. So yes he could have related to it in a non-sexual way.

I do still agree with eevee and alittledizzy that he must have been aware of how it would be interpreted. But I think it's plausible that he just thought 'fuck it' and reblogged it anyway, deciding not to worry about it - which I would also think is healthier than stressing about every little thing!

Definitely disagree that 'friend' is antiphan considering (as per the Sims video) they both strongly believed that you could be both best friends and romantic partners. They are not people who think one label cancels out the other.

I don't understand why straight cis girls people are so obsessed with pastel edits. Just because of the nail polish and flower crowns? People already took Dan painting his nails as an implication for him being gay, so tbh I feel like a lot of people just want to see them do "girly" things. I honestly don't really get that. It would be a video for fun and therefore wouldn't mean anything. Besides, they wore flower crowns several times, Dan wore nail polish once and Phil fairly recently bought a pastel shirt - we are already getting the things people seem to want. I got the punk edits because that was quite a big transition for them, but pastel edits will not make that much of a difference. I also don't want to see all the comments because they will either be "They smashed gender roles OMG!!!111!!!" or "They look so gay/female lol". I don't feel like they, especially Dan, would want to make a video that leads to those stereotypical reactions.
If they happen to make that video, I'll watch it, probably even enjoy it because it's Deppy and avoid the comment section, but I'd rather have other videos instead.
