I'm going to be a cynic and say that gamingmas was more than likely "born" because of moolah and the way ads revenue works in winter - ads cost more than usual in December because it's a holiday season and fall drastically in January - statistically, Youtubers make the least in January (at least it used to be this way). We don't know what's ahead in terms of their other projects, maybe they currently don't have anything lined up and thus decided to make the most of this December by piling up heaps of money so they don't have to starve in January while they're searching for new opportunities... or whatever. I also choose to believe they're trying to make up it to us, actual gaming fans, for treating their gaming channel as a #spon dumpster to fund their tour

coming back to it with dragon city and world chef ads when they needed money and then abandoning it again...

There doesn't have to be just one reason they decide to do something, I think a lot of factors (money, keeping busy, genuinely wanting to revive the gaming channel in style) could have all played into why they actually felt like this was something they wanted to commit to.

Definitely. Keeping busy's always good.

Tbh could be some truth in this. So far, I've seen a majority of Dan's editing in gamingmas so this would make sense.

Anyone know what time GMT YT Rewind is going up please? I is impatient.

I'm late but I have to make a post saying how much I loved the katamari video. Easily my favorite of gaymas so far. Old console games that they already know + weirdness and crazy game mechanics (controversial opinion here but the christmas shopping simulator is still my fave from last year and I had to rewatch it after finishing the katamari one

)

I love how this game made the destructive side of them come out (especially Phil), which is totally understandable bc hell yeah this shit looks satisfying. I wanna play it myself.
Also it gave us lovely quotes like:

P: I'm gonna be rolling him up soon.
P: My aim is to absorb a child.
P: Get this woman. She's small.
P: We should aim for people now.
P: There's so many people screaming (laughs happily)

Hi! At the risk of sounding super creepy, I've been lurking here on and off since IDB's conception (and GG for like a year and a half before that).

Katamari was literally my favourite game when I was a teenager, me and my first ever boyfriend used to play it all the time! I was so excited to see D&P pop up in my sub box playing it (and was also extremely excited about Dan's selfie the day before) but had no one to share the excitement with, so I finally caved and made an account here so I can hopefully join in the D&P community at least a little!

It's so cool reading all your TATINOF memories and that you guys travelled all over and met them and met each other and stuff. I went to one of the shows in Leeds with my best friend who was completely uninterested in going - I actually paid for her ticket - although she did think the show was good. Anyway everyone there was so much younger than me (I'm 28!) that I didn't think I'd really find any like-minded people in the fandom! But here I am trying to make some new friends if you'll all have me

and oh my god, that katamari video was the most satisfying thing. i must resist the urge to google it and play it and ruin my life with it :gg:

my favourite is still yandere though, that escalation was hilarious and i hope they play again and try to actually get away with some murders (even though the game is problematic, i know).

gamingmas has been a blessing, even though it's practically impossible to keep up with deppy and idb when they are producing actual regular new content. i'm afraid of getting used to it and january hitting me hard

I'm so excited for Youtube Rewind (even though 2014 was my favourite one and will probably stay my fave). I kind of always love seeing the Youtubers from non-English speaking countries. There's a whole world beyond English speaking Youtube and it's so interesting to see who is popular in other countries even though I can't watch most of them because of language barriers.

I only recognize Deppy and Lily in that poster too. And just when I was rewatching the last two YT Rewinds and thinking "Wow! I recognize so many more people than I used to!" Haha

Also my plushies came. I love them. They're so soft. The Phil one is 1000% cuter than the Dan one, I think. Maybe I'm just biased. But his head looks like an egg. Still cute though.

Now I'm off to watch YT Rewind.

Just watched Youtube Rewind and feel... incredibly old. No idea who most of those people were, D&P's part was so brief but they were cute. I like that they got the PPAP guy but Phil probably didn't get to meet him
