i mostly avoid the tumblr phandom like the plague but i'm interested to see what the hell is going on there, last i checked (when the vid came out) all i saw was people being happy about him feeling comfortable enough w his sexuality (whatever it is) to express it on a main channel video, would you mind linking me to some blogs and/or posts about it?

Yeah I would say he still will. If it was Phils last scheduled one on Sunday I would say it will be Dan's last scheduled one today.

Do you know what i hate about a massive amount of people? It they are lack of judgment and easily manipulated, even if they had the right reason, they will do shit to fuck it up.

I personally don't have a problem for either side of the argument, whether if you want to treat it more conservatively because this isn't an official coming out, or you think it's more than clear at this point that his glass closet is an invisible closet, whatever.

Those kind of tumblr 'dan defence squad' posts don't really bother me that much. Are they cringe? yes. Do they do any harm? probably not. These kinds of posts are really popular in all fandoms. I've seen posts like these defending fictional characters. I think it's to do with tumblrs 'protective' and accepting (or supposed accepting) culture. A lot of these kids are teenagers and I don't think it's fair to pick on them for embarrassing things like this unless what they are saying is harmful. Those posts with dan's bi-erasure for example are bad, particularly that one in response to 'there's no harm in discussing the idea that dan might be bisexual' question. That's a mess.

Although I do find it odd that some of these users have no problem discussing all other parts of d&p's lives and write graphic fanfiction but have a problem legitimately discussing sexuality. I personally don't discuss d&p's sexuality because I don't have any strong opinions about it but I have no problem with others discussing it respectfully, not sure why these fans have such a problem. I'm sure Dan is fully aware of the impact stroking a male character on the face has and what discussions will come with it.

I think they have some kind of warped idea that they are "protecting" Dan by barring any and all speculation about his sexuality, yet making the mere suggestion that he might not be straight being such a taboo topic is so fcking backwards?? Like, if he is expressing/implying his attraction to men on such a public platform such as his youtube audience, I'm pretty sure we can make the assumption that he is okay with the idea that people perceive he may not be straight. To ignore all of his words and actions and insist that he is "straight until he explicitly states otherwise" is just further perpetuating heterosexuality as the default and makes no damn sense in the first place.

Also, the idea that Dan is being "damaged" by this speculation is just so ???? He's a 24 year old grown man who does not need to be coddled by his primarily teenage tumblr audience. If he didn't want people to dissect his words or actions regarding his sexuality, he wouldn't put it out there in the first place. I just wonder if some of these tumblr kids live in the real world?? The implication that you have to be "angry" if somebody assumes your sexuality based on common logic and social cues is just,,, not based in reality. When I tell people I'm attracted to girls, I'm honestly a bit insulted if people don't assume I'm bi or gay lol.

And then when Dan does, they get into a screaming fit because people are beginning to question if he's straight or not. And it gets so annoying when they bring up old statements from 2012 to back up their defense over questioning things. Those statements are three/four years old now and Dan has grown and matured since then. Not to mention, he's also not a child!
