About the radio, I wonder if they're still interested in doing weekly or monthly shows at all?
Radio is very much a medium of routine and after a while not very exciting. You need a bit of real passion for radio and being a DJ to make that work for you and the audience, but Dan and Phil (understandably) don't have that. It's also not really where their talent lies either, their shows were pretty good on camera but the times when I was unable to watch and just listened, it was obvious how messy their shows actually were. I get that the purpose of their shows was the visual aspect, but very few regular listeners will actually tune in on the website. They're just listening to the radio and will sometimes hear a straight up mess. (I'm being slightly unfair though because most pro jocks had years of experience at campus radio and local stations before they could even dream of an evening slot on national radio, while Dan and Phil had like a month of training at most before they were dropped behind their desk.)
They'd be crazy not to fight for more BBCR1 stuff so I wonder... maybe they could go back to making pre-recorded documentary style shows every few months? As part of their first contract they did three of those; in 2012 (before they got a regular slot) there was one about online dating, in 2013 one about internet safety and in 2014 we had one about happiness. We know Dan liked making his Super Gamer documentary but would also like more control, something BBCR1 wouldn't have trouble giving him considering they let him (almost) do as he pleased with #NicerInternet. It wouldn't be TV, but I still think that could be nice for them because I really enjoyed those when they were a thing.

I already know I'm gearing myself up for disappointment, but at some point in the liveshow, Dan reads out a message about DITL touring and then quickly brushes past it by saying he doesn't know what the acronym means. Keeping my fingers, toes, eyes, and nipples crossed that he was just haru-ing the message because they actually plan on filming a Tour DITL and he wants it to be a surprise.

Yes, this was my immediate reaction too! I definitely got the vibe that he was talking about two different things, the anime/video, and then the male attraction stuff.wtfamidoinghere wrote:When he thanked everyone for being nice about the new video, even i thought there was a subtext of him thanking people for reacting well to the male attraction, not the video in general. re the post tour split: i think they'll have a month or two of more solo content once it's totally over, but i also don't think there's going to much content at all. i don't think d+p will be put to rest, but i think it'll be given a slight break as a duo. frankly i'd be fed up of someone after that much time, i wouldn't be desperate to collab with them right away. piss of and let me film alone.

Your dream is my phantasy fantasy. In fact, if I were them, I'd be writing that book and getting the copyright on it before someone else decides to do it for them. as well as the movie rights, television rights and stage versionwtfamidoinghere wrote:When he thanked everyone for being nice about the new video, even i thought there was a subtext of him thanking people for reacting well to the male attraction, not the video in general. [offtopic]I had a dream last night that they published a new book. It was published over night as a surprise and the title was #phanisreal. The book was tabinof retold but including their relationship (the chapter about their apartments was changed so that they also talked about where they both slept and some romantic anecdotes that i sadly can't remember) and what went on behind the scenes to hide phan. I have no idea where this came from, i don't even ship them that hard. I'd rather see more solo projects. :wtf: [/offtopic]

I feel like people bring up them moving after stuff happens as a way to prepare themselves if it were to actually happen.
We all know we'll be heartbroken no matter how much preparing we do if they do ever move apart.

Went to see what the tumblr phandom was up to, and sadly, someone has posted a link to voldy again.
What goes around, comes around

I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing out loud. At first glance, it looks like Phil really doesn't want to do it but Dan dragged him into it, so Phil's just trying to play it off by being silly and Dan's taking it pretty seriously.lilMango wrote:Off topic (as per usual) but this video made me laugh way harder than it should haveI highly suggest it if you're having a bad day lol
This is a "watch me read too much of myself into Dan" moment, but the way he's looking away and playing with his earring is the same exact thing I do when I'm trying to be serious but also feel shy about it. Either way, RIP D&P karaoke.

I HAD to reply to this, I have been seeing Phanproof @sleep since the crunchyroll #spon video. This is scary, I'm scared.

So much has happened since I last posted! Some thoughts: on Dan and his video, I was surprised by the denial on tumblr on him being bisexual but I expected it. It's hard for many to accept that the person they're attracted to might not like them back (even though bisexuality does imply both sexes ). I look at Troyes videos and there are tons of comments on his videos praying that he was straight so they can marry him. It's ridiculous and a bit demeaning to try to change someone's sexuality to favor your fantasies. But on a positive note there were a lot of supportive comments so I hope he understands that many are behind him.
On them moving out, I can't imagine it. Like they have literally nested into their home. Everything in their house is either shared or comes in a pair. I can't imagine them moving away and looking at their one plush dog or their one cactus with a fringe There is no pressure (assuming they are in a relationship) to move. Espeically with the tour, they will be too exhausted. The next step would be to buy a house or something of that sort- they need more room and bigger shelves. We know that they (especially Phil) are saving up for a comfortable future. I see other youtubers like Joey G for example, and am shocked by how much they spend. D&P make me happy with their messy nerdy flat filled with little fan gifts. It really screams about their appreciation of their fans and their modest living. Also with the parallels with casper and joe- that doesn't really count since D&P have joint bank account/company, with a family member running it.
I don't want to think about the future because I am really happy with the present. Both boys are happy secure, and successful as an entity. Why do we want to think of the end when we can live happily in the present. Them being happy together in whatever way makes me happy. I like knowing that right now they are together eating breakfast and watching anime. I am secure in the knowledge that they augment each other, and that they play a direct role in each others successes. Where would they have been if they had broken up/moved out in 2012/2013. Would Phil disappear with the other youtubers. Would Dan burn out with anxiety about how good or bad his videos are, or become a gleamer doing pointless tags? I think they are aware that their success occurs in tandem. They balance each other out. Each bad quality in one persons is alleviated with the positive qualities of another. They make up for each others shortcomings.
Also a part of me is scared when they do move out that it will be the end. They don't seem like the type to maintain friendships because of laziness etc. Look at their relationship with PJ and Chris. They probably would end DAPG because they can barely upload when they are in the same house so living separately would be a miracle. I'd like to hope that they are each other expectation but we never know.
[offtopic]I was looking through Dan and Phil's Instagram when I got home. I found it interesting how Phil follows a majority of real people/friends while Dan is following a lot of famous people like Harry Styles/adele/justin bieber. Does Dan have another insta for real friends? [/offtopic]

The only dream I've had with is a super-exciting one where I saw them on the street and overheard them needing to get a taxi but not having any USD, so I paid for it for them. It was like 10 seconds of interaction and I got nothing out of it except -$15. I really need to keep this short (because I have a fear of writing blocks of emotional text) but THIS, so much. Like, most celebrities are aware that people fantasize about them in whatever kind of a manner, and have to learn to accept that fact from pretty early on. However, the fantasizer has to also know, that their fantasies will most likely not come true, and that they are going to be like that - just fantasies.(Yes, Dan is quite the exception)kuensukki wrote:So much has happened since I last posted! I think that most celebrities who are LGBTQ friendly, and have people fantasize about them who don't fall into their category (or blur) of gender preference, seem to take it as flattery and they don't mind. But being obsessive to a point of "this person has to prefer my gender" when you know you can't change someones sexuality is pretty sickening. How should that person feel? You praying to god that the person would like your gender? It makes me shiver just thinking about it.
Also since when are bisexual men gay? bleh.
There was a point in the text but i think it got lost in the caffeine...

Tbh I was thinking Dan was talking about his professional life more than his personal life when talking about after the tour. I can't see them moving put especially if they are going on tour again.
They do have enough money to buy their own flat/house but maybe they are putting money away for the future as they have no idea what will happen. which a lot of yters don't look like they do with there spending
Maybe it will change after the tour but we won't really know until June/July when they come back anyway.
I hope they film some DAPG before Phil goes. I can't see them leaving it for 3 months and not posting anything. Definitely rules out having constant Undertale if they haven't recorded anything yet.
At least it isn't hard to record AP and DINOF on the tour bus. Hopefully we get more vloggy style videos

God yes please. It is all I wanted from the UK tour and now would be even better being on a tour bus. They only like doing one DITL a year so this can be this years!manged wrote:

I think an American tour DITL would be a lot of fun, because the country is so big you can get a lot of footage of different landmarks and different food. But ASIA tour would be even better (because then I could go omg also amazing ancient cultures and the best food ever?). Probably America and UK would have the largest audiences though, so even if they do a European tour, I doubt they'll come to the east. c'est la vie.manged wrote:

ON SEXUALITY: For some reason, everyone is really okay with "gay" and "straight" but as soon as we say "bisexual" everyone is all LABELS ARE BAD GUYS JUST BE WHATEVER YOU ARE. I mean, even though I identify as qu**r, I tend to use "bisexual" because it's the easiest way for me to explain to people that gender has little impact on my attraction to a person. Labels aren't the bad guys here. Boxing people in can be problematic, and until Dan himself identifies publically, we're all just tossing around theories. But I know how I talk about my attraction, and I know how my other bisexual friend jokes about her attraction, and they are very similar to how Dan discusses it. It's a hedging method, one I use a lot with new friendships or with family because I don't know how someone will react. It gives you an out, and for qu**r folk that can be the safest option. So for the sake of believing in people, I'm gonna hope that Dan is talking this way so he can act out non-hetero tendencies without giving himself a label he can't get out of if something goes wrong.
I think we all cry "fanservice" pretty quickly on Dan. I think, for myself, I'm gonna assume innocent until proven guilty.

Even outside of being phan af (which I am) - just looking at marketing logistics, they've not been doing anything to suggest this. If anything, over the past year, they've only been tying their brand *much* closer together and verbalizing it as Their legacy, the danandphil universe, this whole world they've created & love. If they had plans to make their personal relationship less wrapped up in each other, it'd only make sense it'd show in their professional journey - but they've only been becoming more of a unit there as well.somelikeitpink wrote:I don't think I get at all where this discussion is coming from to be honest.SquishPhan wrote:Yes to all of this! Personally, I think Dan and Phil exhibit none of the signs of people wanting to part ways and in fact seem very committed to never being all that far apart, personally or professionally. I look at them and all I see are two people sweetly infatuated with each other and the life they are living, no matter how want to label that relationship. But I am, as the kids say, phan af.
For me - now more than ever - they seem to have no intentions of moving apart anytime soon.
Caspar and Joe are actually a great comparison for how much of a contrast they create - their friendship was always secondary to their individual brands, even when living together, they'd spend months apart doing their own thing, and never really hid the fact that living together wasn't a forever deal/a thing of convenience for them. And if you watch their videos from the past few months back (i get bored a lot okay), they've been obviously separating their brands even further, spending a lot of time with Other Friends and hinting/going forward with individual projects.)
