I ADORED that video, it truly exceeded my expectations. They seemed to genuinely be having a really great time and they both looked adorable (Dan in that pink jumper and dungarees )

Comparing it to their punk-edits video from two years ago, I felt that they left in a lot of moments that they probably would have edited out back then, e.g. Phil getting changed in the mirror, some of the comments they made regarding each other etc). I think it was alittledizzy a few pages back that said while they used to seemingly stress over editing their videos in such a way that invited little speculation, they seem to have relaxed a lot more about that now and the result is a much more enjoyable video.

Anyway, this video put me in such a great mood, happy valentines day everyone (she says even though she doesn't celebrate it)

Oh my gosh I cant possibly adequately express how adorable and soft this video was. Like most people, I never got the pastel thing so I was curious and man did they deliver that sweet fanservice in a brilliant way to the trashbags (I freaking respect and am amazed at how they win at being successful creators by a) doing something they don't actually get/like only for the thirsty peeps and b) promoing their oncoming pastel merch in the BEST way ever)

Many moments have been mentioned already but on my nth rewatch I couldn't help but notice how from 15:20 for about a full minute Phil literally cant keep his eyes from Dan in the most adoring gaze ever and his 'we've transformed him guys!' like a lil celebration of how Dan has embraced what Phil (by playing with his curls) and all of us been trying to convince him for years is a sign of progress

Also couldn't stop thinking about certain moments~ the way Phil removed his pants, played with his curls and held his hand for the tattoo~ like they were done without a second thought and so casually

I have to say, I was really sceptical about pastel edits from the beginning, so when I saw the title and especially the thumbnail for the new video, I couldn't make myself watch it at first, it felt like it was going to be a lot of second hand embarrassment, I literally waited for an hour for all of your reactions here just to know what I was getting into - and still was mentally prepared for a massive cringefest Thank you, thank you so much Deppy for being so much better than what I thought of you!!! The video was very entertaining. My cold lonely heart is happy for now. Phil went all out for this video. He even dropped his pants. I had flashbacks of fetus!Phil. Dan was cute especially with his curly hair. He was very cooperative so I liked him a lot. I am not sure if he was seriously concerned of how the film makers think of him. Or, was he shading those film makers for hating tag/challenge videos. Whatever. Phil doesn't care. I love assertive Phil and his nipples. I bet it was cold.

Punk edit was one of the most popular video of Phil. I hope this does well.

I don't know whether this is off topic or not but has anyone found that comment from the make up video from the "serious film director" that's affected Dan so much? (I'm sure he said in a live show it was on the make up video?) This video was great on several levels. First of all, the way Phil says 'sadness' at 2:02. How dare they cover the sass of it with their overused 'sad' theme music. It was pure art.

Ok but listen, I'm going to have to call shenanigans on Phil 'borrowing' those sheets from a 'friend':

In what universe does a normal human fold their sheets so tightly and precisely that they have the same line marks as if they just came out of their plastic retail prison? 'Friend', more like '[UK equivalent of] Target'. But I don't see the need for specifying that vs. 'I got/bought these' like he did easily enough for the other items. What purpose does that slight (but specific) tweak in narrative serve and why did he feel it necessary? Hmm.
(Or alternately: Their friend desperately needs help. Because if they exist, they seem.. tense)

I wasn't in the best mood when I went to watch the video, but found myself smiling, laughing and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside by the end. This video was just too adorable! Definitely a new fav.

I'm loving that Dan is embracing his curls, but admit I was caught off guard a little the first time Phil reached out and played with it. In the past it's been Dan playing with Phil's hair. It was a moment of surprise, but DEFINITELY in a good way

I also found it intriguing that every time Dan put up some resistance to one of Phil's pastels, he ended up really seeming to like it (the sweater, the mug, the wig, etc.) And as others have already noted: Dan didn't flinch a bit when Phil put the tattoo on his neck.

Phil wanting one of his tattoo to be below his collar line because he didn't want the dentist to see made me think back to their early days when they neglected to cover up some marks on their necks that looked suspiciously like hickeys (sorry I don't have an archive to share, but I'm sure some of our historians do!)

So much fondness packed into 16 minutes. I'm considering it my valentine's present.

Borrowed doesn't mean used. The "friend" may have had an extra and not opened them yet? It does seem weird that they'd specify borrowed on those when they bought everything else otherwise.

Random thoughts:

Couldn't help but wonder if all this stuff is written off as business expenses. Their accountant must be so confused when they pile up their receipts. (idk how business or UK taxes work, doesn't matter, just imagining.)

It's interesting to hear Phil associating his personality with "bright colors" when he has described himself as someone who used to be quite shy, is still socially awkward, and rarely goes outside. I feel like between that and recent gaming videos, we're seeing more and more of the Phil who likes attention and having freeze ray power and tries to manipulate situations and changes the rules so he doesn't lose. It's all just very interesting.

I don't like the blue wig on Phil, sorry. Something about the shape of it irrationally makes me think of a ditzy surfer stereotype, no idea why, but I can't. The white hair on Dan just confuses me, I don't know who he is or how to process it. So strange. I'll take the wavy hair.

Overall a very fun video though, nice way to brighten a Monday.

10:36 - Dan hyping Phil up to place the tattoo, then screaming. I thought he was going to pretend the screaming is bc Phil was touching his neck and he doesn't like people to touch his neck but no it was just because of the water dribbling. Phil continues to look delighted.

Actual thoughts:

- Dan teased this AP video with a tweet and also answered questions afterwards. We can tell he still feels an actual content quality divide but it seems limited to actually what is on the youtube channel; he has no problem with some ownership over Phil's content anywhere else.

- Post Baking Universe!Phil lives, now in technicolor on AmazingPhil. Penis talk, nipple talk, stripping down to his undies and not editing it out, casual touches abound with no skittish backing away or overtly making a mockery of it.

- For all that Dan still seems to have too much pride to admit he totally digs the pastels: he totally digs the pastels. And I think Phil either digs them on Dan or else just enjoys providing Dan with an excuse for Dan to indulge in whimsical behavior that he might otherwise feel too weighted down by this responsibility to uphold some kind of quality content threshold. All new clothes for Dan while Phil wore at least two things he already owned, two wigs for Dan when Phil only got one for himself, letting Dan pick tattoos first.

- The only time masculinization/feminization was even glanced off of as a topic was in talking about men exploring pastel colors but only being comfortable doing so under their jeans. No defensiveness from Dan and Phil, no uncomfortable associations (as in, associations that would make them uncomfortable), no trying to explain away except for the basic explanation as the premise of the video.

- In case it wasn't obvious: I liked this a lot, and I'm someone who really wasn't thrilled about the idea of pastel edits just because the concept held no appeal to me. But damn, this video. This was a good video.

hands down my favourite part: "It's alright, you're on my channel. There's no integrity here." i love, love, love that phil effortlessly embraces this. i love it. a lot. (this isn't to agree that he doesn't have integrity, though. just a ~different species of it, iykwim)

things i could have done without: "this is so stupid" / "what is my life" / "why did I agree to do another one of these stupid videos" / "~phil content" / "not like this" but listen i get it. i get it, i get it, i get it, i do. plus, there were various other comments that served as an antidote to these so eh, not too fussed tbh.

regardless, the video overall definitely outweighs these minor gripes of mine. it was a great video, tbh.

I loved the video, though it took me over an hour to watch it (because of stopping&preparing to cringe/not cringing/replaying etc.). So many moments they can't take away from us, ahhh. Approve of the change of dynamics with Dan not making "this guy" face as often. Also both using heart emojis to announce the video - Dan on insta, Phil in a tweet, not sure if it happened before.

It makes me suspicious that maybe Phil got help with clothing&accessories choice/colour coordination from someone (Bryony, as she is into pastel)? As some of Phil's normal clothes don't fit him that well (sorry Philly). Pastel merch is definitely on the horizon.

Also I hope they won't get much sh*t from other youtubers for it (who cares, but still), because if you only see the thumbnail & video title & phandom's reaction, and not very familiar with D&P's pastel "agenda", you may form a wrong opinion. Still think Jimmy's tweets are multi-layered, and about 20% trolling.

PASTEL EDITS!

I’m only here to add to the praise and weeping on this one, guys. Most of it’s already been said, just a few thoughts here and there:

- Maya, the biting comment…my mind went there too…it’s OK, you’re among friends here…we can all be trash together
- Phil’s fascination with Dan’s little curly cue seems so genuine I had the same reaction as dontpanic to the pigtail comment until I realized that this is the most authentically Phil compliment that he could give on camera, comparing Dan to an adorable animal. Remember how much he loves all the little creatures of this world (and beyond ).
- Is mirrorbutt another secret kink of theirs? Phil seems way too practiced at naturally stripping off and moving to the exact spot where he’d be seen in the mirror while making it seem unintentional and himself quite modest. I’ve thought way too much about this.
- Phil opted to make himself look cool and coordinated to impress Daniel's fashion and aesthetic-conscious mind while he chose to swaddle his precious heart and body in soft jumpers, comfy overalls, and huggable unicorns. Ow….my heart…ow…
- (re: Dan’s wheel) He seems waaay too practiced at holding that backbend and way too eager to show it off for even the most enthusiastic of yogis…hnm
- Dan complimenting Phil on his cutting skills was this strange, heart-bursting combination of gentle, even-tempered second grade teacher encouragement and “tell him the little things you love about him”…
- I like watching them make each other chuckle with the unicorn mug voice, why do I feel like this is some kind of inside joke/impression of someone they know?
- Phil getting a secret blue rose tattoo on his chest that only Dan (andlikeacouplemillionfolksontheinternetnobiggie) knows about. I was a bit naughty, I screenshot-ed some of the more, er, suggestive poses and posted them on my Twitter. Yes, they did a bit of that but this video was so much more. It’s truly a gift that they’ve chosen to share with us out of the goodness of their little hearts. They’ve made so many people having a hard time this week for whatever reason’s (myself included) days more than a little bit brighter.

That video was too cute and ~soft~ for my poor little heart

Everybody already pointed out all the great moments, and there are so. Many. I especially love Phil's tongue-in-cheek remarks and his fond to the max looks at Dan. Agree with people who said they felt like they were about to kiss in the end and I'm not a demon phannie I swear lol
Also the reveals of ever new and more insane pastel props. Though the wigs need to die.
The scene of them sitting under the umbrella together must be the gayest most tumblr thing on the internet.
BTW: why are umbrellas bad luck?

Like Chris I find it interesting that Dan tweeted "a video for amazingphil" instead of with. It reads as if he sees AP as his responsibility too (or he's in some kind of submissive relationship)

One minor nitpick: Dan please stop with the fake vomiting sounds, it just ruins the mood and you're not fooling anyone.
