I'm a little confused by people wanting them to go topless in their videos. Dan used to go topless in his videos a lot.....actually he used to get naked in his videos a lot. In one of his really early videos he pulls off his trousers so that he's just standing in his boxers.



And that's just one that I happened to have saved on my iPad for, uh, no particular reason.

We're lucky if we get to see more than his shoulders these days. I'm not sure if he's more self conscious now that he has more viewers or if he's just being more aware of his public imagine/children watching him.

(I've always thought it was interesting that he routinely censors his chest and stomach but not his high upper thighs.)

But anyway gigs, I don't think people actively want them to go shirtless, but I think they'd be pretty exited if they ever did show that much skin. They've done it before of course, as your Phil pic proves, but not in years. Like not since 2010 or 2011. But I don't think people spend time hoping for shirtless D&P the way they spend time hoping for regular uploads and phan proof.

Regarding April Fools' day, I think it'd be pretty funny if they did something random where Phil recorded a video confessing his undying love for Dan, recounting his favorite moments they've spent together and stuff (all fake, of course). Phil's a good actor so he could def pull this off. It could even include cute illustrations of the events he describes. Then they could have arranged it so they uploaded this video to Phil's side channel privately on Valentine's Day (i.e. a month and a half ago - yeah this idea would require some planning but I think D&P are capable haha), only to purposely unprivate it on April Fools' Day. They'd make it seem like YouTube accidentally unprivated it through a glitch or something, so people would think the video was real! All the phan shippers would go crazy!!! Then on April 2nd, Dan and Phil could be like "HAHA PRANK'D UUUU" and reveal that it was all just a big April Fools' joke. Wouldn't that be so hilarious? Or idk, do you guys think that would be too mean??? Some people might get upset at them I guess (actually yeah the more I think about it the more I think it might be best for a prank video like that to just be kept private on Phil's channel indefinitely haha)

But I think they shouldn't do that, it will be drag on and on for the remainder of their times on youtube and people will be pissed and unsubscribe. Imagine if they did it and changed their minds and then Youtube really had a glitch and unprivated it. They would never talk their way out of it even though they're only p-l-a-t-o-n-i-c best friends. All the crazy shippers would think it was real and start blogs and gossip forums trying to prove phan. That makes sense. I had seen the video but hadn't put two and two together. It's probably something like that. At first I thought it was an expression I wasn't familiar with and tried to look it up but I didn't find anything.

I think in a weird twisted kind of way.. We will never get to see the games they ACTUALLY enjoy playing. We will never see Dan play guild wars or a board game.

Mainly because in a way for them that's personal. Something they - Dan and Phil and not dinof and ap - enjoy.

They're not like other gamers who started out unknown and if they played something they liked it was just accepted. Everything they're gonna do will be scrutinised and that was there from the beginning on.. So having something you actually enjoy in your spare time judged might keep them from doing it

That is such a good point. And really, I don't blame them too much for wanting to preserve their enjoyment of some things. Dan and Phil both seem very keen on keeping things that are genuine to them off-screen. They have lines they won't cross for the sake of (and how close as we to this being in the same category of non-word as persona?) fanservice. (And isn't it just too damn sweet how many of those things they won't show or go too into on-camera have to do with each other? Or, alternately, too damn co-dependent. But I prefer sweet.)

Hm, you're making a good point but I'm not completely sold tbh. It's not like he'd be revealing some deep, dark secret - he's talked about Guild Wars and Halo more than enough in the past and they've already played Halo on Dan vs. Phil. To me, it's just like they don't want to properly commit to a game. If they started playing Halo or Guild Wars or any other game with a proper story for that matter, they'd actually have to post videos on a regular basis. Look how much they're already struggling with Undertale which is, tho great, still a rather short and simple indie game. I don't want to be the one to call them lazy again because yes, they do a lot of stuff behind the scenes and they have their tour and had their book etc, but still, they already only post once a month on their main channels so is it really too much to ask for a "proper" game?
Also, like one of you mentioned (sorry, forgot who), the very reason they started the channel was because they "play so many games in their free time anyway they might as well film it lol".

About the Dan being a gamer bit, I thought I heard him say somewhere (might have been a live show) that he isn’t a gamer not that long ago. I might be wrong, but I think I remember hearing that and thinking it was strange, because he has previously stated otherwise.
