if dan has shown an interest in ~filmmaking~ i don't think that his fans should be the ones that discourage him from pursuing it...he cannot keep doing youtube videos till he retires at 65. he's gonna have growth and development, for better or for worse. in my opinion "fans" need to be supportive of this, or at least recognize that it's going to happen at some point. pointing out that other youtubers "flopped" when they tried to branch out is so negative. it's a burgeoning industry and there are going to be more "flops" than successes when someone tries to do something new. that shouldn't stop other artist from trying itpapierklemmen wrote:lol what's your problem? i just expressed some opinions like everyone else. someone wants them to do films, some don't.

i'm not in any way discouraging him from doing anything, i don't know him personally, i don't interact with either of them whatsover, don't tweet or comment under their videos with my "discouraging" attitude, this forum is a free zone as far as i know. i realize that he can't be a youtuber forever and as i said they can do whatever they want, but again as i said i just think they should choose wisely. i think if "fans" are allowed to express what they want to see dan and phil do (films? specific games? paint their nails? get a dog?), they're also allowed to say what they wouldn't want to see them do, especially if it's on the obscure site in the middle of the internet. and being supportive of everything your fav does is also not a requirement. i may like hugh laurie the actor, but i'm not obliged to listen to his musical albums or read his books.

P: What are you doing?
D: I'm feeding it to you.
P: Why is it so slow?
Um, The Gun Seller was actually quite a fun read, soooo #fakefanpapierklemmen wrote:and being supportive of everything your fav does is also not a requirement. i may like hugh laurie the actor, but i'm not obliged to listen to his musical albums or read his books.
(jk!)
Did this whole thing get started because of Dan saying something about doing higher budget stuff? Because I think he just meant stuff that he does already (sketchy things with a theme), but just better produced. I remember him saying he'd maybe be interested in more documentary stuff after his Supergamers experience, but has he ever said anything about filmmaking? I know he can be pretentious himself, but he's so sarcastic about the pretentiousness of the filmmaker YTers, I hope he'd be too self-aware to go down that same route (in terms of general attitude..), but who knows.
Now I'm just wondering if Phil's gotten any further with whatever idea he was working on and if they're going to end up doing another joint project with YTRed or something. 'Creative ideas/bigger production budget/not sure of their joint availability later in the year' They're not moving, they're just filming a high-budget interactive adventure themed around the 7 deadly sins!!1!1
Solved it
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

i actually do believe that all the mysterious exciting things they've been mentioning are them working on something, and not moving or dogs. ytred sounds quite plausible.
i think the whole thing started because of dan's "maybe that’s something I could do more creatively, with a bigger production budget, or maybe just on youtube". what is "not just youtube" then? that is the question.

Ooh a dream discussion thread, that's my night sorted
It's possible to be a fan of Dan and Phil and still get annoyed/frustrated with them. Plus who said you had to be supportive of them to be on this thread, I mean I joined this site because I needed a good rant and it's a place you can come to be critical without having superfans jump down your throat. I support them both but if Dan ever did anything like the TABINOF trailer again... *winces*

Random observation but I'm a nerd with things like this and I have Phil's live sub count open in a tab and I noticed an hour ago or so he gained 100 subs in a space of 5 seconds when usually he gets less or around 100 subs per hour so what? Pure coincidence that 100 people subbed at exactly the same time?
Well, papierklemmen said they would check out, so what does it even matter if they aren't supportive? They wouldn't be a fan anymore. Besides that, fans don't have to be supportive of everything someone does. I hate dapgo. I think it's an overpriced money-grabbing scrapbook that had no reason to be made. A "coffee table book"? Get over yourself. But, I'm still a fan of d&p. Just because I like someone doesn't mean I have to support them in everything they do. Another thing people say a lot is "no one's forcing you to like it/watch it/buy it/etc., so keep your negative opinions to yourself" and honestly I think that's BS. Why should we have to keep negative opinions to ourselves? Shouldn't we be allowed to say when we don't like something? I'm not saying someone should like message Dan directly saying "hey don't make films I think they would be a pile of crap", but people are allowed to say "I wouldn't like it if they did that", especially on a place like this.lost686girl wrote:if dan has shown an interest in ~filmmaking~ i don't think that his fans should be the ones that discourage him from pursuing it...he cannot keep doing youtube videos till he retires at 65. he's gonna have growth and development, for better or for worse. in my opinion "fans" need to be supportive of this, or at least recognize that it's going to happen at some point. pointing out that other youtubers "flopped" when they tried to branch out is so negative. it's a burgeoning industry and there are going to be more "flops" than successes when someone tries to do something new. that shouldn't stop other artist from trying itpapierklemmen wrote:lol what's your problem? i just expressed some opinions like everyone else. someone wants them to do films, some don't.
