ok so unpopular opinion or just something, i was thinking about

so is it just me or does phil give off a vibe that his hiding something somtimes or that just (idk the word like sneaky) . Like dan his kind of obvious with his opions and stuff and in vlogs you can tell if he does enjoying being there or not and just generally stuff like with dan you can tell when his being generally but with phil its like his more reserved and idk were im going with this but like phil is lowkey sneaky and stuff idk maybe its just me

He's hiding that he's actually American and the reservedness is just him trying not to slip with his accent, is this not common knowledge? I thought everyone was aware of The Video... you know the one... where he full on admitted to being American and a liar?

But seriously what vlogs? You can see Phil being so genuinely excited at being in Japan and Aus in those DITLs. Do you mean other people's vlogs? In which case, they're usually both a bit more guarded since it's other people in control of the edit, but even then I don't see anything shifty (like thinking of Louise's vlogs in particular he's always so friendly and seems perfectly happy to be there?). But yeah I agree with anathema, he's just generally a more private person.

Was there really any drama? She tried to get in touch with him and people think she might have had a crush on him but I don't think there was anything more to it. I wouldn't call that drama.

Anyways, I loved the new video. It genuinely made me laugh and even though I think the game in itself is super boring (as in I wouldn't want to play it myself), I would like to see more videos of them playing it because I love how they play it. Also the hats need to come back. I liked the bants, I didn't think they were too one sided. It was a great video and I didn't want it to end even though it was 30 minutes long. Felt like five, really.

As for San Junipero, I loved it in part because it was about two women but also because I really loved the concept - I'm absolutely terrified of death so the idea of a way to in some way cheat death was very appealing to me. Plus the fact that they got (what I viewed as) a happy ending felt like a nice reprieve from the terrifying bleakness of the other episodes. I didn't personally find it sinister but I can see how you would!

I'm also on team La La Bland (thanks PJ) though I didn't hate it. Probably didn't help that in the cinema there was a bunch of kids in front of me talking the whole way through. Flashback to 2012!dinof. If it won though, especially with the amazing films out rn that highlight the struggle and achievements of black people, I predict there will be uproar.

I also loved the golf video. I loved the competition, it was exciting to me as it was so close the whole way through, and there were cute little anecdotes about being on holiday together, not to mention the closeness and the cute smiles and forgetting about the competition to help each other and ahhh. Thanks for finding that! (I looked for it just now and couldn't find it, instead I found their Oct 19th 2015 show where at around 19:40ish Phil talks about stopping the tour bus for this amazing fish and chip shop in Sunderland.) This has just made me think about how complex(? or not) Phil's tastes are... or how they can be really reflective of his personality. He's not into scary stuff about how depressing real life is but he loves horror and scaring himself in that regard, maybe for the adrenaline rush, maybe because it's not real. I'm the opposite - I love watching serious political thought-provoking dramas that can be pretty upsetting, but I'm terrible with horror movies because I hate being scared. I tend to need a friend with me.

Also, just from talking about it, the appeal of San Junipero has gone up for me, because there's so much to discuss and pick apart. I love that shit

It's interesting how there've been a few instances to suggest Phil copes well with hardcore horror (that tweet from Martyn a few months ago about watching horror movies with Phil in Florida comes to mind) yet doesn't cope with/has no interest in political or emotionally intense films (so much so that Dan avoids watching them until Phil is away). And I'm completely with you, while I do have a morbid fascination with horror movies/creepy things, I can't watch them (Buzzfeed Unsolved is my one exception, I'm obsessed) as I don't really cope with being terrified. But I love politics and despite the fact that that sort of thing is generally pretty depressing it's something I'm super passionate about so I usually enjoy political dramas, and I also find sad films therapeutic in a way as they allow me to have a good cry for reasons unrelated to my own issues.

I feel like horror films and political/sad films are both upsetting for different reasons though, and it's understandable to me that not everyone can cope with them. Maybe Phil prefers horror as it's often kind of detached from reality in a way, it's dark and terrifying but ultimately it's often rooted in fantasy and is easier to distance yourself from than movies that reflect the current political climate or realistic emotional scenarios.

^I agree with all of this, except perhaps the Buzzfeed Unsolved and other stories/hearsay like that, because it feels like the laws of physics are betraying us and there is suddenly potential for a horror movie plot to happen in real life nope nope nopety nope

I feel like through Phil's influence I'm actually getting more into the idea of watching horror movies. It's probably good and healthy to be scared once in a while. I went to see Train to Busan in the cinema and it was actually pretty fun being immersed and tense all the way through with no way of pausing the movie - I had to face my fears. "Try new things" and all that.

Being in the phandom is great because I feel like there are so many like-minded people with common interests who can recommend stuff to each other that I may otherwise not have heard of or be motivated to see. I gave La La Land a try because D&P both recommended it and now I'm on a critically-acclaimed film streak thanks to the discussion here on IDB. I'm also interested in watching Riverdale and Santa Clarita Diet thanks to Dan, when I'd probably normally skim over them while browsing Netflix. I wish they'd both watch The Crown though, I've seen it twice now and I can't get enough of it.

From what I can tell it is do with Phil sending DMs to people on Twitter who received TABINOF early asking them not to share spoilers or one particular person was sharing pictures before the official release and received some angry DMs. It's kind of an inside joke now that whenever someone does something Phil wouldn't like they get an angry Phil DM.

I find this very interesting!
Personally, I love horror, true crime (Buzzfeed Unsolved is so funny and interesting, the only Buzzfeed series I still watch) , and supernatural stuff, but I don't like to watch political dramas, emotionally intense films and the like. I find them boring and/or way too overdramatic, which sounds horrible because they are important but that's just how I feel. Phil did say he got bored watching "Moonlight", so maybe that's his general opinion on films like that?

It would be interesting to find out whether or not Phil likes true crime because if he does, I don't think he likes creepy stuff because it's not real. Did he ever say anything about that? Maybe he likes to get a look into the human psyche or what makes humans do bad stuff. It's pretty interestin and horror films put their characters through extreme situations. And some "horror" films are just so bad they are funny

im not new to the phandom in just not the far up the phandoms ass like other people(not that that is bad or anything) but some stuff i just wasn't aware of until now . besides some of this stuff you cant really google . also gg doesnt alway explain things that well as most people that are disscussing something would most likely know what they would talking about (if that makes sense)

That was uncalled for. Not everyone is aware of everything about the phandom even "common knowledge". It would be natural to ask here. The google search results concerning the angry DMs don't have a clear answer either. Also, they are new to this site so are unlikely to know of threads like the White Whale thread or FAQ anyway.

I tend to love horror that is both surrealist but somehow realistic at the same time. My all time favorite movie is Blue Velvet and I think it's a fantastic horror movie. I'd love to know if Phil's seen it and his take on it, since he seems knowledgeable about horror films. It's a very morbid movie though so I wonder who would be more likely to like it, Dan or Phil (or neither lol). Also I find question shaming mean. I don't know everything about Deppy but if anyone has questions I have no problem trying to answer them.

I have to be honest and say that people asking questions on here that are easily to find can get annoying, especially since we have a search function and a FAQ section now.

As for me I don't really watch or read a lot of horror, but I do always find it interesting that Phil is so into it. I do hope he does something with his love for horror sometime.
