Dan actually made a point of saying how this got extreme positive and negative reviews - both of which are engagement. He even said that if people don't want it they need to be indifferent, which would mean a lack of engagement. Tbh, I think they're fine making something people don't like as long as people are still talking about it if it suits their purposes. It's when no one cares enough to even talk about it (or watch it) that it isn't worth their time.

Just started watching the video now and the game isn't really the most fun to watch but I wouldn't ever go as far as to say I found it disturbing either and don't really get why it'd he considered that way...
Disappointed because I was getting over hyped up for the magnificent return of Dan's earrings though

I'm getting kind of concerned over the amount of attraction Phil is expressing for this horse. Not just his attractive face, but mentions of sweat and everything is quite blatant. I feel as if their consultant, Carl, told him that here we were enjoying his male attraction mentions and decided to talk Phil through it. But poor Phil misunderstood the difference between the male attraction conversation and furry conversations and has decided to put all his attention into these horse mentions to appeal to the phandom. I wonder how poor Carl will fix this one.

Good point, though I still find them cheeky in doing it.

Even if they were just friends they could continue living together, as many adults often do, but they'd recognise it'd be a huge commitment to each other that would be made in public and could be misconstrued as them confirming they are a couple. I agree there'd be no point in moving out now if they plan to separate in the future. and if they are in fact queerplatonic or just really close friends, their closeness to each other probably alienates other potential partners (see: all the 'jealous Dan' moments), and maybe they're so close they don't really care about finding other people when they have each other.

Either way, I'm excited to stick around. I feel like something significant's going to happen this year, as it definitely feels like they're building up to something, and sooner or later they're going to have to make a move that will shake the phandom - moving on together or moving out separately would be one of these things. I believe one of these will happen, because people move on.

I can't speak too much for either of them as I'm only in my early twenties and I've barely begun adulthood, but if the both of them want families and romantic attachment, I imagine that especially Phil, having just turned 30 (and pointedly not acknowledging his age) might be a little less secure in his mortality and be starting to think time is running out.

Alternatively, they move in together, and either come out or don't, and delay the inevitable for a few more years.
yes i feel you on all of these points

i'm sure they both want families, i am 25 and i'm starting to realized that i want children and a husband soon. phil is 30 and thats around the time you start to make big changes. them living together as grown men would put off potential suiters (in my opinion). i don't think it's unlikely that they might move into their own places. i also think they could move into a new house together. i'm excited to see what they chose.
These types of stereotypical expectations are probably why he doesn't acknowledge his age, and i can't blame him.
Agreed. I don't think that Phil is suddenly going to change or want a different lifestyle just because he is 30 now.

My thougts too. Phil clearly really likes the horse's face.

Dia I think that they also look at the views a video gets, and like it or not the first horse vid one hit 1 millions views very quickly. I'm sure they take that into account.

I liked this video better than the first horse one but that's not really saying much. The game is still boring and the weirdness isn't enough to make up for it. I think the fact that Phil was more engaged helped somewhat, but I dunno if I'd bother watching another video in this series. It's not that I dislike them playing dumb games, some of my favourite videos are the result of really bad browser games, but this one just isn't for me.

Not to be entirely negative, the horse's anatomically-weird legs did make me laugh during the treadmilling, and I'm glad Dan appreciates the rancher in his fairy attire because it was a nice touch.

I'm sorry that came across as super stereotypical, but I don't think it's an unfair assessment to make. I personally might not care what age people settle down/get married/have kids or whether they choose to at all (I'm not bothered about achieving any of these things in my life), but I know some people do. I'm the only one out of my friends who still gets excited about birthdays and announcing my new age (perhaps because I'm an overgrown child, but also because time doesn't matter nearly as much for me). And both Dan and Phil have expressed interests in starting families. Whether they do so at 30, 40, 80, or not at all, it doesn't matter, though as Phil's from quite a traditional nuclear family and I suspect his parents were also in their 30s when they had him, he might have adopted the idea that 30ish is the right age to 'settle down'. But again, these are all theories. No offence was meant :)

sure, it may be stereotypical behavior to start thinking about having a family and settling down, but it's not unreasonable. if he doesn't want to acknowledge his age, i'm sure there are several reasons for it. both dan and phil have mentioned making ~big life changes~ this year, so why can't we let our imaginations wander?

they've been hinting at moving for a long time. is that not considered a change? also are we going to get upset if he does decide to change his lifestyle? maybe that's why he doesn't want to mention his age.

He could move and that would be a pretty big change, though that doesn't mean that he is changing as a person. Plus this is also a person who still struggles to keep his plants alive, and as much as I would like them to get a dog, I am not sure if I trust them with one.
If Phil wants to change and live a different lifestyle then I am not going to be upset about it. It's not that I don't want it to happen, I am just not sure it is going to happen just because he turned 30.

i'd just like to point out that phil's brother comes from the same traditional nuclear family, he is 2 years older, is dating a woman who is almost 40, they are still not married and have no kids, and the whole family seems pretty young at heart and not bothered with stereotypical expectations, plus phil has expressed that he's quite immature, so while it's possible that phil might be feeling like settling down (or at least starting to explore the dating world), there's also a high chance he doesn't care, although of course we wouldn't know ether way (and yeah, these are all theories, i agree). and if you believe that phil is dating dan then he's pretty much already settled down and even not buying a house together for another 10 years won't mean they're not commited or smth (e.g. they could move but continue renting, owning a house can be exhausting).

It seems weird to give such a negative review since I always seem to be able to find something I like about every video, but this game is just so boring in my opinion that nothing is making up for it. Although I did enjoy this video slightly more than the last one, I don't think I want to continue watching the series

I looked it up and apparently there are 13 episodes plus a bonus called episode X. So we're looking at 11 or 12 more My Horse Prince videos if they keep going at the rate of one episode per video :wtf: I might be wrong, but I can't imagine most viewers or even Dan and Phil themselves wanting that many more. They said they didn't want to do a long series in the facebook post asking for game suggestions so either they changed their minds, have a plan to somehow accelerate it, or they have no idea how long it is.

Definitely agree w/the bolded. I'm in my thirties and feel absolutely no desire to buy a house or start a family but that doesn't make me any less committed to my partner. There's no rule that says every relationship has to progress on the exact same narrative with the exact same milestones. It's like ordering pizza, you and your friend might get totally different toppings on your pizzas but it doesn't make one of them not a pizza. Even if despite all the hints Dan and Phil don't move, or if they do but don't buy, it doesn't make the last seven years of their life together mean any less in my eyes.

Nothing to contribute to the current discussion, just wanted to point out something I forgot after the first Horse prince video: -kun can very well be used for women, like to address teenagers or younger coworkers, and I think I've seen this used in manga/anime quite a few times. I'm calling #fakeotaku Dan.

That's a really good point actually, and sounds much nicer than Phil feeling pressure to move on.

I thought that too. Though it's also technically incorrect to call yourself by a name + suffix, e.g. 'Hi I'm Yuka-chan, nice to meet you'. Well, you CAN do it, but I think it makes a bad impression. So maybe Dan is a SUPER OTAKU and knew that so that's what he meant by saying it was incorrect... That sentence got away from me a bit.

I noticed this as well. Dan and Phil have watched Fruits Basket where the main character Tohru is often addressed as Tohru-kun, so it's possible they got it from that. It's not as common to use it as honorific for women compared to -chan or -san, but D&P weren't wrong. Anyone who called them out for it was

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I actually quite enjoyed this video (and the previous one too). They just feel like lighthearted entertainment to me, nothing that Dan and Phil take too seriously but just something that's pretty ridiculous and silly. They're not my favourite videos by any means (and god I hope they don't do 13-14 separate videos :wtf: ) but given the frequency of uploads lately I think they're pleasant filler-type videos that personally appeal to my sense of humour. I can see how they could be boring though, as the gameplay itself isn't particularly interesting, it's just that I'm here moreso for dnp than I am for the game so that doesn't bother me too much.

I was nervous when they first showed fanart, but they were actually pretty relaxed about it and I thought they handled it really well, not belittling the artists for insinuating anything and just focusing on the absurdity of the whole My Horse Prince concept while even complementing the artists on their skills.

If they're posting 2-3 videos a week then I'm fine with ten episodes of this. They won't be back to back and likely won't ever be the only content we get that week so yeah like was so common with Undertale (or only video we get in two weeks, sometimes) - so bring it, boys.
