This sounds amazing, considering that it's so old, I imagine the quality isn't great. Also ilI wonder if this will be a game he coded himself or just a level of a game he designed that's online? Does Phil have any secret talent on coding and game design? This is like when he said he used to make buffy edits. Why all these secrets??

Well, you can do RPGs on paper/IRL--that's how they were originally done! All you really need is some dice (or other random number generator), some playing pieces, a map, and a rulebook--and you can make up all of those if you need/want to. (I've played it with friends lying in sleeping bags in the dark and just doing it in our heads--with a set of rules we were familiar with.)

Didn't Dan say in his last liveshow that Phil would make a great dungeonmaster? That implies Dungeons & Dragons, the original old-style RPG (though dungeonmaster is used as a synonym for gamemaster). Hmmmm.....

Based exclusively on Phil's tweet, I wasn't expecting to love this video as much as I did. 14-year-old Phil was hilariously brilliant and the plot twist made me laugh.

In particular, I loved how into it they both were and how excited Phil was to have Dan (and us, I guess) play through it. Cuuuute! I want more!

This video gave me thoughts- what if this is related to their project? Like, what if they are trying to make an actual game and that's why Martyn made that pitch to all of those tech companies earlier this week.

This video certainly would fit into that theory- there were small statements made that made it sound like they've considered it.

That was very cute, I'm intrigued by the next chapter. Interesting theory on what they might be up to. Phil was looking very pretty too.

Good grief, Dan's tweet, not like I need an excuse to imagine him in his underwear ("how not to stay cool" was good to us), what was he doing inviting all that imagination? Funny boy. I went to the dental hygienist this morning and thought of him.

Bought the plushies the other day and they are so cute, though I had to do an emergency repair and sew up one of Dan's hands, it split and stuffing was all coming out, had to stuff it back in with the blunt sewing scissors. Even his plushie self inspires maternal attention

Haha I'm not sure if this is sarcastic or not but I don't think a 14 year old boy (unless amazingly self aware/self confident) would necessarily have a male/male relationship in a game he had created for himself and his friends to play? Just in terms of my own experiences!
Edit: just also wanted to add that I'm super impressed with 14 year old Phil's skills and I was so obsessed with the Santana album too haha (I'm the same age as Phil) brings back a lot of memories!

I loved this video so much! Phil is so absolutely creative I love him so much
I really hope that the response to this game is positive and that the video gets a lot of views. Firstly because I want them to continue playing, but also because I don't want Phil to be sad that a game he created himself isn't picking up steam.
It's one thing to play a game someone else made and not have it be too popular, but playing a game you made as a child must be way more scary.

Amiaw, I actually had a wish fulfilment thought about the same... rpg or similar game written by Dan and Phil, might be cringe worthy but definitely interesting to see

side note but in 'how not to stay cool' dan was almost certainly fully naked in his walk around naked bit. you can see the reflection of a thicc thigh on the wall behind him

or maybe fictional relationships that people include in creative projects can have absolutely nothing to do with their own feelings/sexuality and whether or not Phil included a straight relationship, a gay relationship, whatever doesn't prove/disprove anything about him??

holy shit i am in love with this video???? this is my favorite video that dan and phil have done on their gaming channel, definitely. i'm a huge sucker for rpg's, and the fact that it's an rpg that 14 year old phil made makes this even more impressive. i love that they're huge nerds about the final fantasy series, it's adorable. also dan kept giving phil all these compliments aw. fuckin cuties. i loved this video so much, though.

i'd love to see them make another video of this! also i know they like rpgs a lot so if they were to play golden sun or tales of symphonia or even tales of phantasia, i would die, bc those are some of my favorite rpgs. (despite not finishing any of them, i still liked them a lot, i just suck at rpgs) but if they were to play those games i'd be insanely happy. i'm a huge nerd sorry. but aaaa i love this video and i so hope they keep playing it.

also, edit: i don't see why it matters about the characters sexuality and whatnot, it's just a game, and i don't see why it would relate to phil's sexuality. he was 14 when he made this and it's been ages since then so.. idk. i just don't see why it matters. it's none of our business.
