I just logged in to see what people thought about Phil's game and all I got was a huge mess It really isn't funny to troll people like that, I am actually quite upset (might have to do with me being tipsy) and I came here in a good mood. Not going to drag this any further, I just wanted to mention that sarcasm is something you should be careful with and trolling should only be done if you don't hurt anyone's feelings with it. It's never okay to make jokes that have the potential to hurt people. Anyway

I don't even remember what I wanted to say when I logged in. But I do remember that I found the game incredibly adorable and I was smiling throughout the whole video Phil looked very good as well and it's always nice to have a look into his mind, even if it's just 14 year old Phil's mind. Putting aside the game, which was actually very good, I like the musical selections for the game. Dan's face expressions when he recognised the songs were adorable.
I must ssayy, I'm trying to remember 14-year-old me, and I wasn't nearly as commited as Phil about anything. Kudos to Phil.

I really like when Dan said that while they were playing the game because it was their channnel, he was actually having fun playing it, Phil looked so pleased and happy.

Could Dan be more proud and happy about Phil?

Definitely the best DAPG we've had in a very long time. The inclusion of the Santana - Smooth midi had me laughing so hard. And I loved seeing Dan praise Phil, he was so proud!!

That was such a lovely video, and something I never knew I needed in my life! It kind of had the same vibe as the Bubble Bobble video - Phil showing Dan something from his childhood. It was very sweet, and I loved how genuinely interested/impressed Dan was. All the 'lol random' humour 14 year old Phil included made me soooo nostalgic, I remember that phase so well, it made me want to try and find all the 'random' emails me and my friends used to send each other when we were 12. Good times. I hope they continue playing, it's such a unique thing to have on the gaming channel!

Also good to know that Dan walks around their flat in his underwear when it's warm out, this is vital information

What a freaking lovely video. Dan was so fond and impressed (same:me) of Phil. Phil must really hold back his actual creative abilities, because if he made that at 14, just think of the amazing (no pun intended I swear) things he could do now. Jesus. I really hope that they finish this game. I'm sure they will since they have continued that horse game, how could they stop this masterpiece?

While I was watching it I was thinking about other gaming channels compare to DAPG. They don't play the most popular games, or are the best gamers in general but they have this. They even with the generic games (like those awful phone app games) they are able to make those videos interesting on a different creative/banty level. There are other channels that use bants as part of the popularity yes, but I have yet to encounter any channel to have their chemistry. Although lets face it, no matter what you believe the nature of the their relationship is, they truly have some kind of magic all their own; together. Add their natural chemistry, to their creative twists they add to crappy games (ads) and now this makes this channel something very different. I am fairly certain there are no other channels that can boast an actually interesting RPG one of them made in their youth. This is wholly unique to them, and it is wonderful.

9.08 I love how we’ve all made a point in that Dan is uncomfortable with showing himself losing or doing badly in games, therefore doing a game like this that Phil made must surely be a doddle? Nope.
11.40 Phil’s hand gestures during this dragon fight are really entertaining, I ranted.

He has a very comical and dramatic way of moving his hands, he often raises a single finger to his mouth in a sort of “pondering” or “wondering” sort of way. Other hand gestures he makes, are covering his mouth with his hands when he’s laughing/in shock/excited, the more intense it is, the tighter his hands are balled up into fists. Noticing this, makes me notice his hand gestures so much, especially in this video. While Dan is expressive, he isn’t as much with his hands as Phil is, who makes them more than the average person and I really love it, I find it so endearing when people do it, it makes them really interesting and with Phil, it defines a lot of his mannerisms. The kind of jumpy way he behaves, where’s he’s quiet and then out of nowhere he suddenly chirps something and kind of jumps and his hands and makes a motion of whatever reaction/emotion he is feeling. Like, when he is “determined” he makes a stereotypical anime motion of balled up fists in front of his face.
Likewise, at 12.00 he raises his hands in defence and says, “I’m not saying anything”
at 12.28 he stresses this further by doing an over-the-top repeat, his hands raise and his voice becomes really…I don’t know what’s the word for the tone? Kind of uptight, dramatic, a little campy? “It’s all I’m saying! It’s all I’m saying!” and his hands are raised, spread, closer to his face and like a drama queen rolls his eyes and looks off camera away from Dan in this big dramatic defence

12.37 the little look Dan gives him and the simultaneous laugh at Phil’s poor grammar in the game, gives me life.

38.50 I love how Dan loves it and stresses how Phil was only 14 when he made it, and how Dan is so genuinely intrigued. Especially that ending, and Dan’s expression.
39.22 “I wish he could go and read [positive comments] and know that people played it…I guess I’m the same person.” I laughed at first, but thinking back, I’m so proud of Phil and I wish that he would know how many people would be.

Final thoughts: I was hyped and the hype payed off. Wow, what an amazing video, an amazing concept. Not many people can pull out an old game they MADE and have it so amazing? Usually, when somebody does it, they take the piss and joke about how terrible it is, but this is actually good? The story is interesting? I know it’s not an award-winning game, but damn, I’m impressed. I hope this series gets a lot of viewers because it’s so amazing and so original and I just can’t wait until the next video.

Thanks, 000dia000. I loved this video so much. I didn't really feel like saying much earlier but I really, really liked this video and I was impressed at how good Phil's game actually was. The video is really special somehow. Mostly for the reasons you've already pointed out. Anyone else would've spend the whole video making fun of the game and dragging their fourteen year old self for making it but not Phil. He looked so happy whenever Dan praised something about the game and I loved his little hints whenever Dan was about to do something wrong.

This is probably my favourite video of theirs so far this year and even though it's really long I'm going to rewatch soon. I really love this concept for a series (I hope it will be a series), it's so unique. It reminded me of why I like Dan and Phil so much actually.

Them playing a JRPG of all things dragged me out of lurking. I don't mind them playing flash games and other stuff like Horse Prince but JRPG is my favorite genre and tbh I never thought they'd feature a game like that on DAPG. Pretty much thought that the Undertale play was the closest thing we were gonna get to one since JRPGs are pretty lengthy and time-consuming. Said game being one that Phil made is a bonus, too!

Now I kinda want to see them play old-school JRPGs after this. Like FF6 or something.

BUT HONESTLY SAME! Okay, first off, 000dia000 your post was absolutely beautiful and I can't help but scream YASSSS! This video was something else and knowing that phil made it made it so so so beautiful. I was curious about how much work went into making an rpg at the time (I think he had the 2000 rpg maker) and found a guide to coding to ease my curiosity. It looked so complicated that it blows my mind that he spent so much time and effort making the game and the characters at such a young age.

Phil is such an enigma isn't he? We know he has a huge amount of potential and creativity comes so easy to him so why doesn't he explore that as much? I always think back to the BBC video contest he did against Dan where they both made videos under a time constraint and Phils was so well made and dark but also ironic in a sense. That to me is his humor and the genre that he thrives in, something weird, mysterious, dark with mixes comedy and an underlying deep message. So why doesn't he cultivate that and use those skills more?? Imagine If he made a game now and sold it, I'd think people outside the phandom would appreciate it because he does have that "lol random" ideas that can be cultivated and made for a broad audience.

The same with his videos. I love AP but those are just vlogs that have fancy editing but are still a bit repetitive so why doesn't he break out of the box? I'm honestly on the sideline rn screaming at him that he has tons of potential and he can honestly do great things with it if he's motivated enough. Me and dia were reminiscing about his childhood horror video that he and Martyn sat down and cut tapes to edit, WITH little technology and he still produced a really good video. (A badly acted one, but the story to me was hilarious) With this again, he actually sat down and motivated himself to make a game just for the pure joy of it and that to me is so so impressive because I can't phantom putting energy into something this much. My main question is, what's stopping him now?? He's smart, talented, rich and has a great resume. PHILLIP WRITE A BOOK, DIRECT A MOVIE, USE THAT BEAUTIFUL MIND OF YOURS. (Please )

Also trash post: Dan was so fucking fond and proud of phil in this and phil looked so happy and pleased at the approval. Dan is such a beautiful compliment to Phil because you can see how passionate and supportive he is for everything phil does. He wants to show people how great Phil is and he doesn't shy away from complimenting and promoting him at every chance he gets. I think that's a huge part of what makes him so endearing and the thing that really grounds him as a person, that this sassy dark dude that doesn't like the world was able to find someone who makes him happy (this sounds like a fanfic trope but this part atleast I find true) When they're around each other we see the softer side of Dan, the side that never looked down on Phil even when he surpassed his subscribers and genuinely still seems as appreciative and a fanboy as he did in the start. There's really genuine love there and endearment that surpasses every level, there's respect and there's this deep understanding that only occurs rarely between two people. That also made this game so special, this was them showing a quality of phil that they got to experience with us so it was unfiltered adoration and pride that was shining in Dans eyes and that made it all the more special.

I wanted to save for posterity this moment. Like Dan gives Phil that genuine compliment which is so, so sweet on it's own, but then seconds later we have this quiet moment where Phil bumps into Dan with that face and stays that close and thoroughly destroys my life with how fond and comfortable and appreciative he looks of Dan. His face and the shoulder bump scream the whole 'daw... stop it you're embarrassing me' emotion but then when he stays that close and doesn't move away it just kind of quietly seals the deal for me

It also?? I don't know. I'm not discounting the fact that best friends can do the same thing like I'm just giving my very personal impression of the video which means all of diddly-squat, but the vibes of this moment seemed very real and very couple-y to me. Like, it exudes 'I've spent so much of my life with you and yet you still warm my heart' vibes. The kind of way I imagine Phil might lean into Dan when not on camera just chilling on the couch. The video was AMAZING. I never wanted it to end; the story hooked me and I really hope they continue it, because that plot twist needs to get resolved, I DEMAND IT.

I keep getting impressed by Phil's creativity, really. And thinking he was only 14 when he made this... wow.
And DAN. Holy cannoli, Dan. He was so proud and supportive of Phil. My heart exploded everytime he immediately recognized the songs, how he made sure to compliment Phil for the game basically every 2 minutes and let him know that he actually enjoyed playing the game. And Phil's reactions to all of that... he was so pleased and happy, I can't deal with it. It's too much.

I think this video especially showed how much love, respect and pride have for each other. I've never seen anyone else have what they have; it doesn't really matter if you think they're a couple or not, their dynamic in general is #relationshipgoals.
Also,I agree with Dan when he said that they would have gotten along well if they met when they were fourteen. Honestly, I believe they would have gotten along at any age.
