Someone posted TWL video on youtube with this description:
"Just share the damn thing, you selfish idiots. indepthbants.com"
Wonder how long till the BBC (or Phil?) takes it down for copyright reasons..

I might be new here, but this & esp. the rudeness connected to it makes me wanna lock IDB down and not let anyone in ever again.

the point of keeping copyrighted material private until more info is gleaned on if it is able to be shared more widely, is to protect accounts (and forums) from getting strikes. if you're unhappy with how you perceive a community to be operating, perhaps ask for the reasons first before acting impulsively?

The contestants wouldn't have a claim, it would be up to the BBC or whoever, but.. what are the chances Phil sees the video (and description)...

OMG. The description on the TWL video angers me. I really want to apologise on behalf of that person no it wasn't me. I don't have a link to the video. but seriously. How rude!!!!!!!! How ungrateful!!!!!!!! I want to punch something.

maybe we should all just report the video? amazing how fast such things spread, imagine if more people had access to drug deal.

edited: ok, maybe not report it, i couldn't see why phil would care about it either. it's just the fact that the person who uploaded it is plain rude and has no respect for these who had the patience to search for it. so at least change the caption.

Christ. I'm pretty sure some (not all) lurkers are super happy about this, and having IDB in the description makes is much much worse. Can't even report for infringement wtf Youtube.

Report it for what though? It's only the BBC's copyright, and it's not got sexual content or anything? :/ Someone could maybe ask the poster to remove the description or make the video unlisted? It's them on the line with copyright so I can't believe they've uploaded it with such an easily searchable title and stuff

Also the original archive source had a transcript thing so I could dig that up if more people want to know exactly what was said? No Idea how accurate it is but worth a shot..

It's not even that they get a hold of the video. Like, they couldn't even figure what's the reason of sharing it quietly in the first place. I sure hope if management saw it, they wouldn't see the forum linked there.

Honestly not cool of whoever shared it, and the description is just plain rude. Still I don’t really see why Phil would care. Or anyone really if I’m being honest. Like this is so old, I can’t really see anyone taking their time to get this down or removed due to copyright reasons. I could be wrong though

Why do people do things like these? I seriously don't get it. It's not like we wanted to be special by hoarding gems like these, it was merely for it not to be taken down by copyright and the link was given to like anyone who asked. Goddammit tumblr, wyd this. It's all over my dash already. And the description is just rude.
Who knows what kind of lurkers are gonna be here now.

"selfish idiots" wow. If someone does a lot of work to find something and make it available, they should have a right to decide how it is distributed. Especially considering the danger of it being copyright claimed somehow.
I'd say whoever posted it to youtube is a selfish idiot. At some point it would have surely been available to more people, they just had to wait a little for things to be sorted out.
Things like this make it hard to distribute content through PM. I guess the link was only sent to known posters. There should be some trust and that trust should be respected more.

ugh the description made me so angry i tried reporting it for copyright myself, but apparently you have to be the person the video belongs to to do so

honestly even if copyright wasn't an issue what's the problem with the people who went through all the trouble of finding it wanting to keep it for themselves and the side of the community they actually interact with? taking something that isn't yours (as in, they didn't find it) and sharing it with the world (for what? recognition?) sounds more selfish to me

i can't decide of they linking the forum is a good thing or a bad thing (at least they are giving some credit after calling us names? but it could bring us potential problems?)

@ everyone talking about phil and their management, they can't do anything about it (more than stumbling upon it and ending up here), they don't own the video, it all comes down to the bbc

and can we please stop talking about a certain password considering the current situation ffs guys (@ mods if i were you i would take the time to delete/edit the mentions in the last few pages but it seems like a lot of work so idk just a suggestion)

I mean, many old AP videos are now private for no bigger reason that his hair was a mess, I don't think he'd love it being out there, but I also doubt he'd care anywhere near as much as he would about stuff that's phan related.

), as the worst that can happen is it being taken down and it wasn't shared publically on the forum itself, but why would you link back to the forum? It's fine in my opinion if you want to share it with people, but no need to punish the forum and completely disregard the requests of the people that spent their time to find it. Surely, if you wanted it shared so much, you could've found it yourself.

I tried to ask the person who originally posted the yt link, where they got it from, but I got no reply. I think they might have uploaded the video themselves because judging by their tumblr profile they look like they could lurk/ occasionally post on here.

This I feel is just a tad of an overreaction. If it is never mentioned, no one new can ever find it, and that doesn't sit well with me. Besides it really isn't that easy to get the passwords, despite some people claiming otherwise. At least that has been my expereince.
So far it looks like I'm in the minority with this opinion, but I thought I might as well share it anyway.

I don't understand why it won't let any user report a video for copyright infringement - I get that legally it has to be the owner who presses actual charges but why can't users flag it to notify YT staff? Weird policy. I'm sure there's a reason for it but I don't get it.

I'm not surprised it has spread, obviously, but my heart kinda goes out to Phil - hopefully he'll find it funny. It's in the BBC archives after all, so it's not like it's voldy all over again. Maybe he'll even react™ to it now (look at me, being a beamaru of light and positivity). And I'm no expert (read: know nothing) when it comes to this kind of thing, but I doubt the forum will suffer for it except for hella increase of lurkers...
