[offtopic]What do you think are the odds that they will go to other yt conventions this year, like the Australian ones?

Because there is this Finnish event that I think is nowadays the biggest one in Europe, and this is the first time since 2014 when it isn't on the same weekend as SITC. That year they had Emma Blackery and since then the event has grown and had nearly 20 000 visitors last year. The Finnish Phandom was kinda vocal about themselves last winter when they went to Stockholm but not Helsinki (if anyone remembers the LS chat spamming until noticed). So I think it would be plausible, if they need income if they want to visit more places this year and the mystery project in August doesn't crash with it.[/offtopic]

I just watched the "I have Hobbit hair now!"-ls because I wanted to hear Dan talking about HP and Scorbus, but ended up listening to the whole ls while doing the dishes and other stuff, and at 56:55 he says that they probably won't go to the Australian con as they just visited Australia, and that for the same reason it's unlikely they will attend the European con. I don't know if this is the Finnish event you were talking about though? But I think he sounded pretty sure he won't attend the cons, as he wished everyone a wonderful time there.

that was about vidcon europe and australia, the finnish one is entirely different. if i remember correctly, they have been kinda ambiguous about cons this year, but idk if it was because they're not sure about getting to sitc (bc project), or if they were hinting about the australian ones, or if it's a bigger plan of theirs to visit more cons this year. so i'm just secretly hoping...

Ehhhhh I don't see anybody else pointing it out, so I guess I'll do it. I guess a lot of people don't exactly "get" BOTH Tumblr and 4chan references, so I don't see it mentioned. Dan is making fun of those who criticize films and have usually the same kind of slang and attitudes as those on 4chan, that are easily offended and opinionated about films. (Theres a distinct overlap). But the thing he is saying: "REEE" is a reference to how these type of angry, bitter, easily-offended 4channers are called "Autists" and are compared to autistic people. That the tantrums they go on are similar to those kind of episodes that autistic people experience. So congratulations, everybody, Dan just made fun of autistic people, yay.

Then again, Dan doesn't mean that, obviously, he's just making fun of 4channers, but it's interesting how he uses this "language" but not everyone gets where it originates. This draws back to how he can't make toast without someone finding him problematic and that's. That's the way of the internet, Dan. I'm just surprised there hasn't been upset people, he's using referencing that's... Kind of sensitive. Also, I guess this is another instance of him trying to appeal to the edgy, meme demographic of teenage boys.

The new gaming vid was pretty cute. I loved all the anecdotes they were sharing (so many anecdotes) and the synchronised "Ohhh" funny. Also I find it hilarious how they've gone from "We must not interfere with these sims" to "lol lets freeze everyone"

also it would be so funny if dil got pregnant via. alien abuduction lmao could you iMAGINE

I mean, he literally replied to someone that "REEEE" meant "i am very anger" lol, i think you're looking into it too much. I just read it in the voice he made in his re-branding video, the "REEE" with the scissors going towards his eyes. He defo wouldn't reference that on purpose, he knows the backlash it would cause if people recognised it, and wouldn't try to appeal to the edgy teen boys when he knows if the majority of his current fanbase picked up on it (the ones that are actually reading his tweets) they would be incredibly annoyed and he'd have to make an awkward apology in a liveshow.

tldr;I think it was just an expression of annoyance, dan wouldn't risk the potential audience backlash

the first half of the video was very pleasant. can't explain why, it just felt very calm and domestic to me. (maybe cause Dan was tired as hell, at least how it looked to me, probably after so many videos prerecordings, cause I guess this was a prerecording as well. so the tired calm atmosphere was nice)

I didn't like the bowling that much mainly cause I didn't like the freezing part (although setting Pancakes' house on fire was one of my absolute my favourite things in sims) but the accidental plant was nice

can't wait to find out if Dil is pregnant

Wanted to say the same, saffarinda. I think it's interesting background information, dia, didn't know that was typical 4chan language (but could've guessed it probably, as, well, it's 4chan). Still, I'm pretty sure I texted some of my friends something similar about Star Trek, and it was definitly not a 4chan reference. I mean, it could be, in Dan's case, but I don't think so.

Also I haven't watched the last two Sims episodes yet and I feel like I definitely need to catch up. Someone's having a Dil-marathon tonight

i found the first half or so incredibly wonderful too, and i think for me it was phil! phil seemed to have less persona while playing, at least in the beginning, those comments about being allowed to make old references and the stories he told, it all seemed so natural, and i really really loved that.

I wasn't expecting to get a new gaming vid today, so that was a nice surprise.

I enjoyed it, it wasn't my fave, but still liked watching it.

Listening to their childhood anecdotes is something that I always enjoy.

The freeze ray gun is getting a bit much. I wouldn't mind if they retired it for a few episodes.

I at Dil getting abducted by aliens, I'm hoping he is pregnant with an alien baby.

That was a nice surprise, if a bit all over the place. It was nice to see their reactions and choices with Dab's wardrobe. There are a lot of cute tshirt designs that I usually don't think much of in my own game so I'm glad they like them. That monster under the bed turns up every fricking night, it'll drive them nuts if they play the game the way I do, days of play kind of thing. I've got a few families with lots of kids and it's constant monster-spraying all night long. The alien abduction was hilarious, I hope Sims 4 is like 2 and has every adult man get pregnant every single time, I loved the science bros family in Sims 2 with two alien kids between the three of them.

So weird that Johnny Zest's name is the other way round in their game. Hearing them call him Zest was so strange. I think he's a cool dapper-looking guy, but I guess they just thought his name was weird. Honestly, though, Dan with that freeze ray. There are times I want to go over there and have a word about the perils of self-deprecation on the brain or to take things away from him in a very annoying mum way and this was one of them. His excuse of an art installation was funny, though, and it did look quite good. Poor frozen sims, though, there was no consent in that.

Phil was adorable in this with his sugar-apples and sparky toy stories. He's said his grandfather died when he was four, I wonder if this is his grandmother on that side of the family who then also died when he was quite young as he talks so fondly of her as if he misses her. He posted a photo with an adorable set of grandparents a year or two ago, so it seems he still has half of them (I only had one between 7 and 15, then they were all gone, it's always nice to see people with their grandparents or talking about them).

Really looking forward to an alien baboo if the Sims creators are smiling on us with auto-mpreg
