Congrats, they actually took your suggestion and played the game. :D

I really enjoyed it, especially Phil's commentary.
The editing entertained me as well.
They weren't as bad as I thought they might be, though of course they did have help from that mystical sparkle stuff.

Wow, that took Dan many minutes to do. If it wasn't for the infinite sparkles of edibility, I wonder many tries it would have taken them (or if they'd have just rage quit). Didn't need Dan's comment on cutting yourself, I wonder if he realises what he's saying. I'm sure they'll make back his ten pounds, though

Phil was funny, I forget what he said now, but he said a few funny things. I loved his shirt too, totally thought it was foxes, though. Corgis, huh. Wow, what am I seeing. I too loved the little chest pat, cute.

Congrats on them going with your suggestion, human!

That was your suggestion from the liveshow, right?? Congrats!
Yess, I asked him a week ago lol guess they didn't have anything else on the drawing board.

Also, I felt a bit warm and squishy inside when Dan included me by mentioning gluten free bread haha

Woot! Go you human for suggesting and predicting this game. Funstrating indeed!

Phil is wearing a corgi shirt from Hot Topic!!! I saw it in stores a few days ago and told my husband Phil needs it, though the fabric quality is not that great.

http://www.hottopic.com/product/corgi-a ... 50573.html

Toaster sounds. Dolphins being born. "Simulators".

"Your true fantasy". A slice of bread. Which TBH is all Dan has ever dreamed of role playing as.

Seedy multigrain bread with marmalade. "You're that weird outsider seedy bread."- Dan

Dan judging Phil for wanting to come home and stick/sink his teeth into that buttery goodness.

(No you're not about that life Dan...)

"I'm still quite edible though apparently"- Dan

"I want to break free!"- Dan singing

"You butter glutton"- Dan
"I'm not a butter glutton"- Phil
"You are. You're saying give me that butter, I want to rub my face on it"- Dan (stop projecting)

Things I heard Phil say: "Yaass" "Come on lads" "Dad take me to the toaster" "I am not toast" "you're like the skater kid I always dreamed of being" "just imagine you're Spider-Man but you're made out of bread" "oh my gosh, this is so arousing" "Yes Dan, this is beautiful" "teet and flip" "just flop it in"

(His commentary is the best, Dan. All the yeses and Dans, someone needs to do a tally. I love how Phil says "oh my gosh")

Very leaning, much arm touching.

"Does this mean it's going to toast?"- squealing Dan

(It was not you drama queen.)

"What sickos out there would want me to do this again?"- Dan
"Mee!"- Phil
"Do you want the end of my life?"- Dan
"Yaass"- Phil
"Oh god." -Dan

Phil still has bandaid on finger, sides are short, probably filmed a week ago.

(That would still be a very small bedroom to film in, sorry.)

Nice video! I am personally not so much into rage-inducing games but they handled it in a humourous way. I definitely agree with saffarinda that the videos have been getting shorter, I guess that once again shows that they are going for a more casual audience instead of a gamer-heavy one.

cringemonkey, for a hyperlink you type [ url = google.com]here goes the text [ / url ] without all the spaces. You can have spaces in the text part though.

Love how Phil was so invested. Halfway through I just thought to myself: Omg. I am watching a guy who is older than my politics and economy teacher freaking out over a piece of digital bread.
(It's not that he is old or that I think he is being childish but it's easy to forget the age difference between me and them and it makes me realize that the only reason my teacher is kind of 'superior' to me is because of her profession. Not that I think I am such a grown up. aaaaaah. I hope you get what I mean)sorry for the rambling

aw I really enjoyed that video!! Phils commentary was so funny
I've been really enjoying all the videos they've been releasing lately

ive been keeping up with the election all day and while I'm happy about it ending up a hung parliament, the thought of a DUP/conservative alliance happening is honestly terrifying me

I feel the same way about the comment, however, the context of that scene was dan playing as a piece of bread. I'm going to assume that it was still about the bread being sliced, I guess? The comment is still very side eye and very distasteful, but with context, I don't know, it feels a tad bit less offensive to me. Even though I'm still really annoyed with it. that literally killed the video vibe for me personally. Phil made it a bit sweeter and the end of the gameplay was so stressful honestly. Also did phil call dan, dad at one point? Lol to that honestly.
Also the corgis shirt was a gift a fan gave them at playlist according to some people on twitter, which is super sweet of them!!

I'm not sure what I just watched, but I sure as hell enjoyed it. :D Phil was really funny with his commentary and being so into it while Dan was close to rage quitting. I especially enjoyed the moment in the beginning though, where they were being domestic about their superior choice of fancy bread compared to the rest of the pleb population. :thumb:

Y'alls notes on Phil's liveshow kinda make me want to use it a background noise when I'm getting ready tomorrow.. I usually think Phil's liveshows are boring as hell so I don't ever bother but I just might.

Dan really can't make toast without being problematic.

I heard Phil say "dad" at least once, but it wasn't to Dan. But there were so many Dan's in there, I wouldn't be surprised.

Re: the shirt. Oh nice! I felt the urge to buy it for him myself.

And in my frantic note taking I missed seeing the freaking chest pat. Wow.

A coalition would basically be where two parties join together to rule government (which was what occured in 2010 between the Tory's and the Lib-Dems). This Union is basically Theresa May saying that they'll have the support of the UDL in parliament. Problem is, because Tory's rely on them now to pass things through, they may have to accept somethings the UDL wants to pass through, because now they have control over them (hopefully they'll still reject some of the more extremist, anti-lgbt+, anti-abortion policies).

Such a fun video! I love when they cheer each other on and Phil was laying it on thick today. autumnhearth pretty much hit all my favorite quotes in their post.

Phil did say dad - not Dan - at one point but it was when he was trying to get the bread up on the chair. "Dad! Take me to the toaster!" @ 5:12

There needs to be a compilation (if there isn't one already) of Phil un(?)intentionally saying sexually inappropriate things and Dan asking him to never say those words again.

They were both so fond and cheerful. A+ would toast again

Oh god, a friend of mine gifted me "I Am Bread" and I think I've played it all of twice because it's the most miserable experience to play. Dan describing it as QWOP with better graphics doesn't even do it justice, QWOP is not nearly as frustrating.

That said, I loved the video. Much more fun to watch someone else struggle with it, although I have no idea how Phil managed to stay so upbeat. He was adorable, and there was a lot less screaming from Dan than I expected which I am very thankful for. :D

That video was so frustrating. Phil's commentary was gold I could never play a game like this. Phil's eyes though (and Phil in general), especially beautiful in this video

I did notice that comment and my initial reaction was, "wow, really? ouch". But then I remembered he was talking as the bread and tbf, I don't think this is something that occurs to you if you were never exposed to self-harm in any way. I know a lot of people actually joke about it in a very distasteful and dismissive manner and while I don't think his comment was something he should have said, I don't really mind. Maybe I'm just too used to being exposed to triggers that they don't bother me that much anymore because I watch a lot of highly triggering true crime

(I don't have anything to add, I just wanted to show my appreciation for this quote because it made me lih-tra-lee laugh out loud.)

But yeah, I didn't notice the cutting comment at all the first time I watched. I'll admit I got distracted daydreaming about owning that corgi shirt. :? Seems like it was an offhand comment that came out wrong due to the context - careless, but not intentional. Although, younger Dan was more prone to making those sorts of jokes, so it could've been a bit of that side slipping out.

It was a cute video, like people said. I thoroughly enjoyed how into it Phil was. Not much rewatch value for me, probably because of the length. I hope they do try another level sometime, especially since having the magic jar of whatever kind of took all the suspense out of it. They did pay ten whole pounds for it, after all - need to get their money's worth. ;)

saffarinda wrote:Again, not the most INCREDIBLE video, but some light humour I enjoyed. Honestly, I just thought Phil was incredible in this.

Firstly, his corgi shirt is amazing.

Secondly, the intro was cute when they simultaneously popped up. I found the lil info about their choice of "whole-grain, seedy bread" cool (I'm personaly a white bread lover myself - don't like the taste or texture of brown bread)

My two fave moments:

8:29 - The way Phil is so shocked and scared by the bread and almost grabs Dan and shakes him is so funny - especially when his hands just hover mid-air for a moment in shock.

12:30 - Just Phil's responses to Dan ohmygod

Dan: "What sickos out there would want me to do this again?"

Phil *high pitched*: "Meee"

Dan: "Do you want the end of my life?"

Phil, in voice of cats from that video: "Yasss"

I see they're keeping their videos slightly shorter, the ones between 10-15 minutes seem to do better than extensively long ones imo.
saffarinda, you just said basically everything I wanted to say about the new video! It was nice but nothing special, and I probably won't rewatch it. Phil gave me life, though; the corgi shirt, the high-pitched "Meee" at the end...
alittledizzy wrote:11:08 - Did he sing "School's out for the phandom"? lmfao. (If I misheard, someone let me know. I listened to it like five times to figure it out.)
I heard "School's out, for the fandoms have awoken", but I don't know if it makes any sense. English it not my native language.

Am I the only one who couldn't stand Dan this video? :? I got used to him being more dominant in videos and sometimes cutting Phil short, but I found it so extreme in this video, and I got heavily annoyed when he said "this was the xy OF MY LIFE" for the third time in like 5 minutes. Aah I'm sorry, I don't wanna spread negativity, you all seem to have enjoyed the video!
However, i agree with your opinions on Phil (and the corgi shirt). His commentary was so funny, and he seemed to be in a great mood. I'm glad he's so happy recently (I'm also glad that Dan's happy, even if he annoys the hell out of me sometimes ).

sinnamonrollphil, I hope they'll get more corgi shirts to sell, so you can buy one! ^-^

LeftHandedism wrote:I am intrigued to see how Dan's political activism develops and excited at the thought of him potentially taking on some leadership, particularly in helping to get young people engaged. I do take issue though with the implication he's made—a few times—that all “young people” have to do is wait for “old people” to die and the world will be a better place. I hope Dan understands that it's a bit more complicated than that.

I'd like to talk about two ways in which I think that position is misguided. (Note: I personally think everyone should vote—I fundamentally endorse any get-out-the-vote effort, even if I think the reasoning behind it is misguided.)

First, a lot has been made of the significance of getting out the “young people” to vote in both the UK election and the recent US presidential election: young people as a group are politically liberal, though of course not every young person is. So, statistically speaking, as the proportion young people casting votes increases, the proportion of liberal votes increases. Arguably, if more young people had voted in the US presidential election, the results would have been different.
But this is also true of other parts of the American electorate: for example, African Americans as a group vote overwhelmingly Democratic, and so if more of that group had voted, the presidential results might have been different.

Conversely, Clinton got 3 million more votes than Trump. Given that the turnout was disappointingly low among groups that would be expected to vote Democratic, somebody else must have been responsible for millions of those left-leaning votes, including many of the “old people” who voted.

So, while high participation of “young people” in an election can definitely tilt it in a liberal direction, that does not mean that young people are the only ones who could or would or do vote that way. To suggest that this is the case sets up an inaccurate contrast between “young” and “old” which at best is annoying but at worst is counterproductive if it keeps liberals of all ages from working together.
Second, suggesting that liberal/progressive/left-leaning views reside only in the young begs the question of how anything progressive was ever accomplished before now. Left-wing heros like Jeremy Corbyn and Bernie Sanders are surely “old people”, and maybe this should serve a clue that progressive people are perfectly capable of being old—and have been around being progressive for a while.
We all like to believe that history moves forward to a better world, and it may even be essential to believe that in order to have the courage to work for forward progress. But any look at the past hundred years shows that forward progress is not linear. A lot of really progressive things happened in the early and mid 20th century, things like unions and civil rights, and social programs like the National Health Service in the UK and Social Security/Medicare/Medicaid in the US. The late 20th century and early 21st century have seen a lot of efforts to dismantle all of that, especially starting in the 80s with all that Maggie Thatcher and Ronald Reagan managed to do. But all along the way people have been fighting back; the passage of Obamacare was only a few years ago.

The fight is not brand new, and most of the progress that has been made up till now was made by “old people”, since they were the ones that were around at the time.

What struck me at the demonstrations surrounding the presidential inauguration that I attended was how many “old hippies” were there. People who as “young hippies” fought for civil rights in the 60s and 70s, and can't believe they are having to do it all over again. Anyone who looks forward to old reactionary and conservative people dying off should realize that the old progressives will die off too.
I could make more points, but I think I've sufficiently tested the patience of IDB (and Dan? Lol) with my academic-sounding rant on a slow day on the forum. I'd love to hear from anyone else on any of this (and we could always move to the social-political thread). I will say in closing that I do think that social tolerance and acceptance of more and more differences does seem to be making linear forward progress, and while I'm sure there will be inevitable setbacks, I can hope that all the “young people” will make tolerance a thing to stay.
All of this ^^^ yes , my articulate hero
Tumblr and particularly this fandom is great on tackling issues like racism, sexism, ableism etc, but one thing that gets widely ignored and in some cases even encouraged seems to be ageism? A lot of people seem to forget that EVERYBODY was young once. You don't "poof" magically change when you hit 30, or 40 or 50. Usually someone with strong liberal convictions will remain so until their last days.

I definitely loved today's video. I found something about the dynamic of a quieter but more intensely focused Dan and a Phil who got just as worked up (if not more) over the gameplay as Dan, despite Dan being the one playing, really interesting.

I wonder if that is actually why they can be happy sitting there watching each other go through games? We know from Phil's experience with The Witcher (I think that's the one?) that Phil started playing that game and Dan would watch him, then just passed it off to Dan and watched Dan play. I always imagine that would be pretty boring - to watch someone when you are in the same room and have the option of playing yourself - but Phil didn't seem bored at all.

Beyond that, the only other thing to me that set this game apart is just Phil himself. There's just something about him lately. People have been saying it all year, but he's really warming up to the camera and has such a more natural vibe to him now that it's actually difficult for me to rewatch 2015 DAPG videos now.

Glad I wasn't the only one who was bothered by the cutting joke. I'm not gonna get personal, but that's not funny. I love how he unlisted Truth or Dare 2 due to problematic humor then does this. Completely ruined the video. Ugh.....
