The word was WRITE, so yeah, Dan messed up. He only looked at the W-H--- combination (hoping to get WHERE or WHICH), not any other W---- combination.

Heya!

I'm drowning in humid heat help! Hong Kong is an actual steamer :;(∩´﹏`∩);:

So I've been lurking for a while, read lots of interesting things! I don't know how much feedback could fit in a 140 character tweet though, maybe if someone directed Dan to IDB or a more thorough tumblr post? I really hope he can read some of the stuff written here, it would really help him. I hope people aren't being too harsh though, rebranding and changing directions is so scary. What the heck were those voting options? Is "it's ruined my life" even a negative option? What is "I like dogs" supposed to mean? I wish he could have posted better voting options, but I guess he can't really do anything else. ʅ(◞‿◟)ʃ

Also, I loved Wonder Woman! Thanks Dan for the recommendation! The plot was a bit limp and predictable at times, but generally enjoyable. I mean, it's a superhero movie, what can it be other than straightforward? Wish they could've explored the side characters more though. I loved the badass action scenes (did not know how much I needed that female empowerment), the acting was awesome (Diana can crush my head with her thighs sameer I really relate) and I loved the not so subtle social commentary about women, politics, race and etc.

I gave him feedback on YT but I was pretty limited in what I could say basically said it made me feel better about laughing at how on fire my life is right now.

Its good that he did a poll and stuff but like maybe if it had linked to a google doc for more feedback? But then it's only one video - unless he's seen that its got some very strong and polarised opinions I can't see why anyone would want to analyse loads of in-depth responses. At least with this he could do a word cloud or something to see what words are being used most when discussing it??

I posted on his YouTube community page and Twitter with the gist of what people were saying. I'd already tweeted to him that I loved it, so if he saw both he might wonder if I meant it  I did because I wasn't looking at it deeply and got the point and his jokes. It's interesting that he asked at all and the poll options were so Dan, just silly, ironic etc you've gotta include the dramatic extremes and a random option, apparently ;)

Phil retweeting Anthony's video had my mind going for a moment wondering what new independent video he might have made until I realised it wasn't his

Quick question: Will there be a Dan liveshow today, or have they already left for VidCon?

Do you guys think that Dan saying "police friend" was sidestepping usage of the word 'partner' (like, two people working on a bomb disposal together would be partners, and he was saying that Phil wouldn't be a supportive bomb disposal unit partner if he was telling Dan how bad he was) or is 'police friend' just a weird non-sequitur of a phrase that came to Dan's mind?

I can't remember him saying anything about this week's ls, but considering that they uploaded a gaming video yesterday instead of today, it would make sense for Dan to have a ls tonight.

[offtopic]I fell into a YouTube wormhole and I found this video/channel I found it before in like 2013 maybe 2014 (I think? I know I was 18 when I found it) - it has hardly any subs/views. Tbh I don't know why they were involved as such, it's just one of the things they did. They're in a lot of the videos on that channel and they're in the banner too, I never noticed that before.

OK, on to the movie review. I'm going to have to disagree with D&P (and many IDB posters) on the Wonder Woman phenom - I think the movie was good, but not really good: 3/5 stars. I liked the production design, Chris Pine('s haircut,) and WW's naive character, but that's about it. I was yawning at its preachiness in the cutaways, and really was unimpressed with its direction / editing. Full disclosure: not really a fan of the (ridiculous) superhero genre, excepting when it's being parodied, ala Deadpool - and the fantastically disturbing performance of The Joker by Heath Ledger (that will NEVER be surpassed.)
I agree with all of this but I decided not to mention it in case I got into an argument.
While I was watching WW I wasn't thinking about strong female leads or good representation or how it compares to other movies in the DC franchise.
While it looked pretty I thought the script, characters and plot were extremely meh and rolled my eyes a lot.
It wasn't horrible (except for some of CP's dialogue), just fine. I'm just disappointed because I originally wasn't going to see it as the only DC movies I've liked were the Batman trilogy and I'm so sick of Marvel churning out boring subpar superhero movies that are just advertisements for other movies, but people said "omg it was really good" so I went to see it and it was... really average. I've never liked Chris Pine either so that doesn't help. He made the movie worse for me. But I appreciate it for what it is: a really successful action movie with a female lead that can inspire women and little girls to be strong.

I voted for "you ruined my life". I'm a hater, sorry bout it this was a joke option but the video literally did put me in a bad mood and I felt like it was the worst video of his that I'd ever seen. I was actually shocked that I'd disliked a video of his to that degree. While I don't LOVE a lot of his solo content (which I realised when I took the phandom survey) they at least usually make me chuckle or think or something. If he does something like this again I hope it at least has structure but I didn't really like or agree with what he was saying either. If he wants to make deep videos I'd much rather he did them "Going Deep" style while collabing with Phil, or other YouTubers. It could be his thing on YouTube like Phil wanted the 7 second challenge to be on his channel.

One of the hosts of that channel (she's the one introducing the video) is LMC, who got them their job at BBC radio 1.

I think he did avoid saying the word, but it was probably not a spur of the moment decision, maybe something they thought about beforehand.

Since vidcon starts tomorrow, I highly doubt we will get a live show today since I'm assuming they are travelling today (or maybe already travelled yesterday).

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if he used "police friend" instead of partner.

I voted for this option as well, with a comment saying not really, but that it did leave me feeling down, to the point that my husband kept asking what was wrong and I could only reply "Dan". Though I don't feel as strongly as you.

I thought that "police friend" was a weird mouth flub, but if it was to intentionally avoid saying "police partner" then that's freaking depressing.

I wasn't aware the convention started tomorrow. Boo. I was hoping for a ls, but perhaps that's for the best?

Wow. I need some cheering up.

I'm kinda confused at how many people seem to think Dan's poll had anything to do with genuinely wanting some kind of articulate constructive feedback? The options don't indicate that at all. Even if he wanted it, any moderately helpful YT/Twitter comments would be flooded out by the usual drivel.

If we were doing bingo boards for a ls, "the video was all a joke / not supposed to be serious" would be on mine. I thought it was more tongue-in-cheek than an actual philosophy attempt.

Yes to more bombs please! It's lame to whine that it's too hard when they skipped so far ahead, I'm sure they decided the easy ones would be "boring" since they did well on the first two, but they could do it if they worked their way up.
That's my socializing quota for the month up.

Okay, this really makes me want to bring back bingo boards for livestreams. So if Dan does one today, here's what's on my card:

- 'video was a joke/shitpost'
- being cagey about tinder spon
- the phrase "sweaty rat"
- claiming bomb video is too hard
- at least one steven, george, or zach
- Attack on Titan
- vague mentions of being out of the house
- his version of centipede story
- no father's day mention unless it pertains to Dil

That would've been hilarious

I think the police friend was just a slip of the tongue, I doubt that was a planned joke considering the high intensity of the game doesn't allow that much room for planned humour.

I was wondering whether the alarm in the game reflects the time irl? Because if so I'd like to see how long the videos take for them to make, and how much they cut out of them getting drinks, sorting stuff out etc.

The alarm clock is in real time! I was watching that too this video- They started the first bomb at 18:50, and the last time showed for the last bomb was 19:14, so it looks like they spend about 25 minutes filming this time around.

This is when they come home from America and get a dog because the video made him realise he liked dogs (which is why it was one of the options for feedback) and that is his true feelings on the video. The memeing of Dans life is 'I like dogs' and therefore a dog has been acquired.

does that even make sense

i was so curious to see if he'd brush it off or actually talk about the critical response. but maybe he'll do it next ls nevertheless after having thought about it more? #stayoptimistic

Wow guys, I've been awol for ages. I have SO much to catch up on, I haven't watched a LS in about a month (have they even done that many), nor have I watched many videos. The only ones I've watched so far are the Sims4 (which I loved)
and Dan's Meme thing (which I thought was shit and didn't have a clue what he was going on about, so much so I gave it a thumbs down - soz Dan).
I want to try and catch up on their live shows but I don't know if I cba really, I've felt myself really slipping away from my Dan and Phil bubble, but hoping that now my irl things that are now slowing down I will get back into the whole thing. I missed all the bants and chats, so hopefully I'll be back in stanning position soon (I did see someone at Gatwick Airport on Sunday in a Cat Whiskers tshirt and eeeee'd a little much to my friends amusement).
rizzo wrote: This just bothers me more?? What in the world are those options? Why doesn't he ask for genuine feedback? Why do I care so much?!
I honestly saw this poll and just closed it, it also kinda irked me that he didnt ask for genuine feedback, he must know that 50% of the phandom were like wtf. Not sure why he can't sometimes be just a little bit more serious on twitter.
malday wrote:Phil did use cardboard to scoop the centepede according to his ls, so that settles it.
Having caught up on tweets etc, I don't think this actually settles it. The picture he posted definitely doesn't look like cardboard to me, it looks like the floor in the lounge. I think Phil lied one way or the other and tried to cover it up with the cardboard theory. Obviously it would be easier to know if he just chased the centipede out of the bedroom into the lounge if we had a frigging floor plan of their flat (how has noone found this yet ).

Right time to get on and catch up with some videos, starting with the latest gaming video.
