Dan & Phil Part 4: The Cheekiest Link
Damn Daniel, we are trying to cover your asses over here ( :butt: pun intended) by trying so hard to find any other explanation besides it being Dan Lester.angrymob wrote:I appreciate how we're trying so hard to find any other explanation than it being D Lester.lilMango wrote:Jeez, what a topic to wake up to!
+1 on the "Dan Lester" boat. It's all I can see now.
Far-fetched idea, although I suppose this entire thing is far-fetched, but whatevs What if Dan was being a grumpy-poo and wouldn't sign the rules sheet, so Phil attempted to do it for him and wrote his last name instead?
Idk. At this point, I'm just trying to see the anti-phan side of this, but I really can't
Edit: Good idea, swofro, it would be mighty squished though.... and I have a feeling Dan would take up more space if he decided to write it like that.
I'm excited for the tipsy talk video though!!!!
Dan, if you are lurking, just wave the damn thing in a liveshow so we can inspect it further.

As I see from his extremely messy and inconsistent handwriting, he has written l's small and big many times on the same page. No particular cursive tho (I don't think what I read was considered cursive)phamnotof wrote: I mean, just looking at how huge the 'l' in Daniel would be compared to the 'll' in Howell... And his 'l' is rather tall, as previously discussed, which is why Howell just doesn't work for me no matter how we spin it. I'd sooner see it as 'Dan Fucker', tbh.
I'm team #DanFucker because that sounds hilarious
Wait, what?akui wrote: Also these two dorks, i just noticed they signed as each other.

i think the daddy thing is possible, as a kind of slightly sick in-joke. they have pretty dry senses of humour. if Phil had given Dan a lecture about being more productive and Dan decided they should both have to stick to the same rules then, I could see Dan being cheeky with the signature. i'm still not sold on it being Lester, though. despite the persuasive edits, it's a long shot in my head.
also since when is this forum as formal as GG? i am going to deliberately bring back old topics just because they're technically on-topic Deppy
but no seriously, why is Dan's body such a mystery to viewers? it looks simple to me.
he just has love handles/hip fat? which is typically female. but because his skeleton is typically male, so his hip bones are narrow, there isn't the curve inwards from his hip pudge to the narrowing of a waist. so the combo of narrow skeleton + curvy weight distribution, results in his unique shape rather than a typically masculine V-shape (or even a female S shape). he's just androgynous.
pants cut for men are going to slide on him, because he has to buy a wider waistband to fit his hip/middle; but below that ridge he is smaller, so a few centimetres of drop from walking or moving around is gonna make the band all of a sudden too loose, which causes it to fall even further. he definitely sagged his pants on purpose, for years. but i think it was partially a stylistic choice that hid a quirk of how his clothes fit, which you can see now still when he wears belted skinny jeans and still has loose fabric around the lower bum and upper thighs. (as someone else pointed out)
the ideal would be if he could get his hands on some women's cut jeans, but his size and height is going to make this pretty difficult. i've noticed a lot of tall/curvy women's jeans brands cut them in the bootleg style also, and high waisted is in fashion rn. neither of which may work on him. skinny cut suits him, he's got fantastic legs.
it makes him adorable to me, too. not in a condescending way. just, his unusualness is endearing.
don't tell me what to do.manged wrote:Since it's on-topic, I feel I should admit that there's just something about Dan's butt that makes him more adorable to me. I think about the mysterious shape of his butt a lot. Don't reply to this.

I was wondering if it could be something angsty like "Dan Failure." But I couldn't see the F.phamnotof wrote:I mean, just looking at how huge the 'l' in Daniel would be compared to the 'll' in Howell... Me trying very very hard to be objective:

And then me deciding screw it, it says "Dan Lester":

Guys, he writes his "t" v small if you check the Q&A (the only one I can read as the dream journal seems impossible). If it doesn't say Howell or Lester, I'm extremely curious by what does it say. Could it be his mother's last name?

I do want to say that I'm 100% sure a lot of these are neither Dan nor Phil's writing, just generic "attractive handwriting."
But stuff like the doodles/dream journals/PINOF questions are invaluable.

Yeah, we've discussed the "father"/"daddy" possibility. The "he signed it sassily because Phil was being overbearing" aspect (daphenaxa posited it) as well as the kinky and literal interpretations.angrymob wrote:Okay, my only other theory is that there was a long-running joke about Phil being his father I refuse to say dad.

Wow I wake up to 6 pages of Dan Lester conspiracy theories
I'm almost certain it says Lester though I can't see anything else that fits..
Oqua I don't know how you are doing this but it's amazing
Posting the Rules on tumblr to see what people can decipher might be a good idea, if they go wild and pester Dan for answers re. the signature that could help us solve the mystery

I rather doubt those were their real evaluations. I don't know about in the UK, but everywhere that I've been involved in schools those evaluations are usually formatted a bit differently in different schools/districts/years. I just assumed that they were probably based off of real evaluations but re-written by someone.phamnotof wrote: The 9th grade evaluation wouldn't be Dan trying hard tho, or would it? Like I said earlier, most of the handwriting in TABINOF isn't Dan and Phil's actual handwriting. Just "nice handwriting."

... Well, if they've managed to find their ways here I can just imagine Dan having his naked popcorn session while browsing through this debate.
But seriously this is a great read, you're doing amazing job with your phandom detective skills and I fully support the theory of them getting secretly married. What a time to be alive. #teamdlester

I'm not sure tho, cuz Dan's page and Phil's page look a lot like their actual handwriting, only neater and nicer looking.oqua wrote:This was my assumption too.icklebrina wrote:I rather doubt those were their real evaluations. Now that I think about it, how did I cannot believe I bought those as their real evaluations. I am such a disaster. In my defense, we don't have anything like that over here, so I have no idea how they generally look.akui wrote:I'm not sure tho, cuz Dan's page and Phil's page look a lot like their actual handwriting, only neater and nicer looking.oqua wrote:This was my assumption too.icklebrina wrote:I rather doubt those were their real evaluations. To be honest this is what I'm thinking. That it probably does say Lester (I've basically convinced myself at this point lol), but I do NOT believe that they are married or that there is a super romantic explanation. I think it was a joke of some kind. Probably this kind of joke:jaej wrote:on one hand i don't think it says dan lester, because why would it. on the other, what else could i be? so i'm resting on that it IS dan lester, but there's a hilarious reason why and we are absolute spoons who don't get it OBVIOUSLY it was a joke you sporks
It's like that kind of humor where you laugh, blush, laugh some more, and then bask in the idea of it someday being a real thing, and then call each other stupid. Which is what I think this is, if it actually says Lester and we're not all just losing our marbles.

But maybe a more platonic / less serious kind of joke? Idk.
It's true that he writes his t's small/short in printing (where they look more like plus signs), but I think it's a whole other ball game when we're talking about formal cursive.daichii wrote:Guys, he writes his "t" v small if you check the Q&A (the only one I can read as the dream journal seems impossible). I know what his mother's maiden name is and it involves a letter that "hangs down," but I don't think there are any down-hanging tails on any of the letters.
Tbh if he did write his grandma's surname / mum's maiden name instead of "Howell," that's still fascinating as heck!! But I don't think that's what it says.

Haha, literally all i see in these two pictures is just a blob of nothing, I can't even see an outline of any letters at all. I feel like I need to watch the DITL video and see if I can add anything further (which is highly unlikely seeing as you've all done such a good job already).oqua wrote:

I'm phan af (as many of you), and the signature in the rules does look like Dan Lester, but it makes absolutely no sense for it to be that. It's probably Howell and it's just that his handwriting is strange and he sometimes writes the same letter in a different way (many people do that).
I've had a great time reading this conversation and literally laughing at your comments, but I can see the antiphans writing 'delusional' in capital letters in our foreheads.

I have nothing to add to the wonderful #DanLester conversation , I just want to say that I have literally spent hours attempting to find some sort of link to the Jeremy Kyle episode... but have not had any success. No links, no torrents... no anything. I'm going by the fact that it is March 3, 2011? Even so, there is hardly anything from 2011 available.. i didn't realise how difficult it would be to download an episode of a tv show... I always thought every tv show would be readily available... obviously not.
Is that a euphemism?Anonymousse wrote:He won't be eating Dan's cereal for a whilestarlight-still wrote: He over here talking about American cereal choices, no respect for poor lonely naked popcorn noshin' daniel just totally ignored his 'real phil' comment and the planticide comment too dan hungry too phil dan like cereal too phil that's just cold man nochilllester man
