Lol dan sassing phil for telling us the gaming video was tonight. great video with Anthony thought! I laughed though the whole thing and I swear that hug at the end was one of the first times I've actually seen dan genuinely hug someone.

Amazing video, I loved it so much, so many funny parts. One of my favorite Dan collabs also, they work really well together. Favorite parts: Dan's excitement because of his cool hair and the whole of "Diet" but it was all great, so difficult to choose.

I can't hate on the decision to postpone the gaming video although I really want it now. I agree that it's good to give this video space ... So people (aka me) can watch it again and again until then.

I guess I forgot that. Dan even awkwardly initiated it. and did a shoulder pat right after and as they were exiting the stage. I guess I was just thinking of all the times where if I had been in their situation I would have hugged my best friend in triumph or comfort or whatever and they don't and it makes me sad every time because hugs are important.

I've been impossibly absent from this site, I'm sorry and I've missed you guys! I don't even have an excuse, I was just busy with school and then a bit burnt out after the semester ended and maybe also sucked somewhat into Love Island obsession.. but now, I'm back for the summer before I start an even more difficult course and have even less free time in the fall..

anyway tldr: I'm back, soz for being away, that video was fucking fantastic. I can't quite compute it all yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be watching it a couple more times before I have some coherent thoughts. My fave bit may have been the sad chubby bunny / watermelon bit

i liked anthony's and dan's new collab, even though it did get a bit too loud for me towards the end, but i was consoled by them making their screaming / being mean part of the joke and also, what did i expect. i think overall it might have been 2 or 3 minutes shorter? i thought it was the funniest in the beginning (with the documentary-like start and the height difference bit) and in the ending, whereas the middle was a bit of a mixed bag. i just thought some of the skits worked better than the others -- the ones that relied heavily on their respective personas (the exercise and food ones come to mind) were somewhat repetitive. i also thought that their acting was actually better when they didn't rely on their personas too much, for example comparing dan's food-related crying with the one at the ending. but maybe i'm just mistaking good acting for dan actually being in awe of anthony's beauty.

i don't really want to complain, as it made me laugh and i'm happy they collabed. 13-year old smosh fan!me is crying tears of emotion somewhere in the mist of time.

I never acc saw them looking similar until they were hugging, it was like a weird mirror image.

me neither -- at least since their fringes have been gone. i thought after they changed the hair and clothes that anthony did actually look like dan -- dan's lovechild with connor franta, maybe but the ending had me in shock.

Backstepping from my cooing over the above ~cuteness, this video was pretty funny! It did drag a bit, as others here said, and there seemed to be too much exaggerated crying for my liking, lol, but the very start and very end made it up, in my opinion. When Dan stood up and the camera angle made him about two feet taller than Anthony Comedy gold!

I thought the video was pretty frickin hilarious. Ridiculous, a bit over the top, but very funny. It was repitive and got a bit uncomfortable in the middle in the kitchen (force feeding and white privileged) and then the shouting toward the end. I agree with the DINOF persona being old, but he was also *acting* emotionally vulnerable. The beginning and ending were great. Dan in soft pink is one of my favorite things so there you go.

I think Phil has his own collab with Anthony and might have been helping film that one.

Re the hug thing. That's really tricky. It's seems like something they don't want to do for fan service with each other. Even the hug at the end of that stage show quiz felt forced. I'm sure they do hug, but that's private and they don't want to exploit it for views. Hugging in a gaming video would be weird logistically. In a collab it depends, I could only see it in a PINOF. But thinking about when I hug people: to say hello or goodbye, for moral/emotional support. When I hug my husband: when he gets home from work and when we need to ground each other. When you see your best friend/partner all day, hugging on camera is probably not the most natural thing, plus all the shipping baggage. Would I to see a love a hug? Do I want it to be forced or awkward? No.

I loved that video, it's great seeing Dan is something quite unscripted, he really outshone Anthony in my opinion. Dan is really good at talking shit and improvising, I was pleasantly surprised (not really, I knew Danny-boy had it in him ). However, I must call them out, they don't look as similar as they once did, so this collab probably would have been more accurate if done around 2013. Also, I wonder if this will get more subscribers for Dan??

Kind of off-topic, but I wonder if Phil did collabs like this (he would be able to do it, if you take into account him and Dan pretty much have the same sense of humour and quick wit) and if he would get more attention as a "comedic" youtuber, or maybe he doesn't want that kind of risk or attention. Phil, after all, only seems to do collabs with old friends now, and any others anyway are just the same kind of basic collabs with challenges and Q&A's.

Dan and Phil have very different approaches to collabs, but I always wonder how things would be different if their area of video making was switched from one to another (if Dan did more basic vloggy and story time things and Phil did more comedy and subject/topic videos). I wonder if that would contribute towards their individual subscriber count? I honestly don't believe there's much creative differences between the two, so I think they're both very capable of switching between each others styles.

Hugging:
I don't think deppy were comfortable with hugging, they were under constant scrutiny and probably very aware that a lot of people took touching for intimacy and proof of their relationship (they weren't wrong). Even accidental touching had shippers screaming, a hug would just be something shoved in their face for years afterwards as "phan proof". The stage event was so weird if you think about it, first time they hug, and so awkwardly. Also, they hug just about anybody they meet, so it's not as if they're non-huggy people. They acknowledged that they're pretty much best friends for life, so if they're comfortable enough to hug strangers or acquaintances, they definitely hug each other, and probably quite often. They probably have no reason to in front of cameras, or just plainly know what kind of reaction that interaction would get, so avoid for obvious reasons.

The only time I was ever bothered by it, was at the end of the TATINOF documentary after their show, they look at each and smile, both with hands on hips. The moment seemed perfect for a hug, just a platonic one, it seemed the natural instinct for anybody in a moment such as that. Yet, the kind of distance they held felt so forced, it was nearly incomplete, it was like they were celebrating individually in their own little bubble, yet wouldn't celebrate together in front of the camera. They don't "owe" us a hug, but there are times when their distance is so calculated that it becomes uncomfortable. However, they've grown so much more comfortable on camera that one day I dream for a sweet romantic platonic hug.

that video was amazing omg. the part about the branding and the self deprecating was a bit heavy for my liking, and it made me sort of sad but i still liked it nonetheless. i laughed so hard at the watermelon and marshmallow part and the part where they switched clothes made me laugh hard.
