Loved it! I think even more than his vid with Caspar, the start of the vid is gold, also his parents methodology for making him eat and get up early are definitely something xD
I'm always happy to hear abt the Lesters, they are family goals tbh.
Nice quick mention of Dan n.n
I would love a blooper of Phil making those cocktails!

The death bit got a lil too real for a moment tho, I think is def something Phil gets scared of. The not wanting anyone to die is quite telling.

Didn't know he used to have Hazel as manager :o I would expect Hazel would have made more collabs with him and Dan to get more views, fact she hasn't is cool!

What's up with the toy tho....

Going to rewatch this one a million times xD

Tipsy Talk! Finally. Phil is so sweet. He made a personalized cocktail for Hazel (thought he would talk more about it tho)

I was hoping for a talk about death from Phil the other day, and it actually happened. Thanks for bringing it up, Hazel. I'm just gonna wait for the psychoanalyzing from you guys.

Really enjoyed reading all of the DanLester conspiracy theory posts and butt talk, also special TY to danphil333 for the Phil's butt pics, it's always nice to see
Anonymousse wrote:1. I LOVE PHIL, I'm sorry Dan, but gosh darn it that was the least persona thing I have seen so far of Phil

2. Dan mention!

3. My gaydar went off a bit, but as a cis female, I need somebody to confirm this.

4. I LOVED the slight deep insight, I have always thought Phil was a lot deeper than it seems.

5. Loved the video.

ahh, now to watch it again like a million times.
I agree with you.
It kinda seemed like he talks differently in this one (I mean his accent) because of Hazel's accent? It was harder for me to understand what they were saying, I had to pause and rewind a few times.
Loved the death talk because of his burying head in the sand behaviour, it has to mean something but I'm too tired to analize right now.

beforetherumblecomes, welcome! Of course you're not an intruder! Please don't be afraid to post, it's not some elitist space, we're all very friendly and happy to see new faces

People of this lovely website: I have things to do today. Important things. WHY DOES FINDING OUT WHETHER IT WAS WRITTEN "Dan Lester" OR WHATEVER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN DOING MY THINGS???? I spent more than an hour analysing that sheet of paper and now that's the only thing I see too. Can somebody ( ahmmm dan and/or phil) clear it up pls?! I'm too curious for my own good.

Now about the Tipsy Talk video... I was actually not looking forward to it. Hazel is usually not my cup of tea so I watched it expecting to cringe or roll my eyes, tbh. But it wasn't so bad, really. I can even say I liked it, so yay

Nothing new to find out on the video, but it was cute and I liked that Phil was the one to do the drink. Waiting for that bar to open.

Loved the Tipsy Talk

Favorite parts:
P: Do you want to go back to mine and gesticulate?

Hazeltini (but nutella??)

#secret mixologist confirmed:
P: Should I open my own bar?
H: You could and it would be full of underage girls. P: Well maybe I shouldn’t open a bar.

Phil’s mind:
H: Sometimes I get angry cos food is so good!
P: Are you trying to squeeze it cos it’s so tasty?
H: Yeah it’s like how you get angry with something because it’s really cute.
P: Like a kitten
H: Yes!.
P: You’re saying you want a pet burger basically. That’s a surreal image you with a pet burger

Angsty chicken. what is with the chicken ?!?! (spot of something on it) it’s blood from murdering something

P: Now I’ve got milk and dip dab all over my crotch/
H: It’s so hot. You’ve never been more attractive to me.

H: What if you met your clone?
P: I would make a youtube video with it?
H: Of course you would. You’d cash in wouldn’t you? P: I’d be scared it would murder me. Cos that’s how most horror movies happen

AU Phil would be dark Phil

Death: Hazel let’s not even go there. I’m going to be robot.

(He’ll be ok on the bus for 2 months)
P: because I adjust to things quite quickly. After 2 weeks I’ll forget what it was like to live here.
H: And you’ll have Dan with you.
P: I will have Dan.

H: Please tell them you’re not under duress.
P: I’m here consensually

Sorry, unpopular opinion but I found hazel's video boring(the only interesting thing was knowing how phil's parents used to bribe him) but I have hope in Phil's...now when it will be uploaded...

i personally don't get any kind of elitist vibe from idb at all, although i definitely did over at gg. I liked the video!

The insight into what Phil thinks about death was pretty interesting! It's scary and bothers him. He'd rather he and everyone be robots and live forever than die. The Dan mention that was inevitably coming because when can't they talk about each other  even if it was just about the tour.

I like how Hazel thinks everything in their house is cute

1) I enjoyed the video a lot.

2) Phil wasn't actually tipsy at all, was he? :tsk: Just a bit hyper.

3) Phil's childhood, cute.

4) THE DEATH DISCUSSION. I was so irrationally pleased by it. It wasn't deep or anything, I just loved watching Phil get uncomfortable about it. It was so telling. Back on some other forum akui once said something like, "Dan sighed and was silent for 5 second and then put on a smile and moved on and that was the realest I've ever seen him." Well, I would like to say something similar about Phil: Phil squirmed and joked about robots when confronted with the idea of death and that was like the realest I've seen him...possibly ever. I would love to see Phil get asked all of Dan's probing LS questions by a fellow YouTuber. Even if he didn't actually answer a single one, I feel like his non-answers would speak volumes.

I would also pay good money to watch Dan and Phil discuss death together. (Preferably actually tipsy this time.)

I'll take a swing. I don't think there's much else beyond what he said in the video. He doesn't like to think about death because he likes being alive and being around people he loves. He's very content with life and something just occurred to me.

What if he has a bit of a sore spot with death because of his best friend (the one mentioned in DML) dying? I could see him thinking the like of "it's not fair" "he could've lived a long and happy life". Plus, it just coincided with my headcanon that Phil retracts to less serious topics like robots when he doesn't feel comfortable, and it could've been a way of preventing it from getting too deep for him?

Add in the fact that he lives with Dan? Mr. The-Inevitability-Of-Death? He's probably had to endure an earful of that at least once (and i could only imagine after hearing your other best friend talk about death so frequently with his existential crises... :sobs: )

A few days ago greatnessflicker (sorry I didn't reply straight away) mentioned Ezra Koenig follows Dan on twitter and I remembered Stephen Fry used to follow him! Have they interacted or something? Why would Stephen follow Dan? :D
A few days ago me and my friend got tipsy and had a great fun i.e. laughed out asses off scrolling Dan's twitter and imagining Stephen Fry seeing his tweets in feed and his reactions.I'm so sad he's left twitter :sobs:
Anyone has an answer to this mystery?

Hi beforetherumblecomes and welcome! I never officially got a link either. Folks tried posting them on the other site and I got lucky and saw it before it was removed or changed to something else. I've found this forum to be nothing but welcoming. It's definitely not a cool kids club but not exclusive

I just saw someone mention this on tumblr, but didn't Phil have a close friend pass away in college? That may be a major reason he is afraid of death/aversive to the topic.

Edit: I'd also like to know how Ezra and Dan ended up following each other. They both like Evangelion, so one of my secret dreams is to have Dan and Ezra watch anime together and talk about it.

Hazel: "I love how your brain works"

hazel is me. I love phil even more now. He is such a fascinating person.
he is so charming. not even appearance wise(which i appreciate a lot lot). His personallity is everything. I want to be his friend and just have endless discussions with him. He is so different (in a good way) from everyone i know and even people that the youtube community and media in general are shoving in our faces.

Really love the video!!
It was surprising to know that Hazel used to be kind of D&P's boss, she must know a lot of what goes on behind the scene!

As usual Phil's interactions are more natural and funny with people that he knows quite well.

I would like to know which are the ingredients for the cocktail he created.
Trying to guess I would say almond milk, chocolate liquor, maybe some rhum....Phil let us know!! ;)

The death talk was unexpected...we need more in depth Phil! (in depth bants pun here )

Now waiting for the collab on Phil's channel and I suppose it will be uploaded after the family vacation, so let's wait.... :sideeye:

edit: I totally forgot about Phil's friend passing...if I was in his position I would have tried to avoid the topic too.....

i can't help but feel slightly underwhelmed with the tipsy talk video. not sure if it's because of the video itself or if it's because i'd been looking forward to it since it was mentioned so i might have had higher expectations.

i'm glad hazel started more serious topics with phil though i wish he was more serious at times but i guess it just makes him uncomfortable which is okay. his reaction to the death question was interesting (i suspect the death of his friend might have something to do with this?) as was the story about his parents giving him coffee and his eating habits as a child(the way hazel asked how he was now was sweet.) it was really lovely that he made hazel her own drink!

i did enjoy the video though and i'll definitely rewatch later. maybe my opinion will change because i kept having to pause from being interrupted while watching for the first time so i was quite distracted. looking forward to the video being uploaded on phil's channel tomorrow(?) too

Although it was a bit dull at some parts, I did like the Tipsy Talk Video! I haven't watched any of Hazel's vids, but I think maybe just the way she edits/what she decides to keep in is a bit less selective, so the tone of it is different and more mature than Phil's videos. I liked how comfortable they both were, although Phil did seem a bit tired, especially at the end. Overall, I liked it, maybe I'll watch it again sometime
I wonder who Dan is getting coffee with! I don't see him as the type to go out of his house and get coffee alone, but maybe his lazy browsing days are improving to be more productive cafe days.

Also, welcome beforetherumblecomes! I actually love having new people here, but I still feel like a bit of a newbie myself even though I have been lurking for quite some time, heh heh
I really like the community on here, and I don't think anyone is seen as an intruder, as long as they don't cause shitstorms of hatred.... we have yet to see that here though.

Please don't worry! We love new people! Literally every single person here was new once. :platonic:

Anyway, I'm so glad you found your way here! We didn't send out links to IDB as some kind of exclusive invitation; it was just an attempt to help people find us. If we could have pm'd every GG lurker / visitor we would have! I'm not sure where you get the idea that anyone here views this as an exclusive club, but I don't think that's the case at all and I'm sorry you have that impression; we welcome anyone and everyone — old-timers and new-comers, young and old, shippers and non-shippers, stans and critics. As long as you're open to some good old-fashioned bantz. ;)

You're definitely not an intruder and we're, um, arguably sane. At the very least I can say I've get to see a single unironic use of "PROTIP" here, so that's something.

Anyway, all that to say:

You are definitely not an intruder, the more the merrier.

Re tipsy talk
Unpopular opinion, I like it but I'm not going to rewatch. Maybe watching them sitting down and just have a chat is not my kind of thing. The only thing that stands out for me is the return of the sad chicken.

That must be quite depressing for someone that has dealt with death a couple of times. I think Dan's crisis goes more on the "Anything I do doesn't really matter because the universe is infinite+everrybody will eventually die" type of thing than talking abt death, like the main issue is not death itself and that's why they can get along/Phil was a good supporting system during Dan's worst time.

It is quite telling how much he avoids anything getting too serious or too real. Might be te schtick of "I just want people to smile" and talking abt death or other serious topics is not the way to go. Kinda sad to think that his way to cope with things is not talking about them (at least not in public). I do hope he does talks abt this stuff in private.

I liked the video, the return of flirty! Phil always fills me with determination (do you want to go back to mine and gesticulate? ) Hazel looks incredible, and I love how she can just make a conversation with anyone effortless and entertaining. The coffee thing as a child certainly explains Phil's coffee addiction...if I drank four cups of coffee a day I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at at night, but he seems fine. Phil's chemistry with women makes me wonder what it would be like for Dan to collab with a girl. He hasn't really since Louise, and he and Louise have the cutest, but also most platonic friendship in the world. Maybe Dan on next for Tipsy Talk? haha
