Question for those who were offended by the 'hoe' comment: out of curiosity, does it also bother you when he says the word bitch? Bitch was originally a word used as an insult for women but much like 'hoe', now people use it for everyone.

I would say offended, for me, is too strong of a term. I'm just caught off-guard, a bit ":/", and wondering if he uses the word "hoe" as a descriptor for other women. Like, tabitha is not real, so I do feel silly even thinking about it, but I can't decide if its out of affection for her or precisely because she is a computer game character that he feels like it is funny to say it.

I think he was only doing it to be funny and relatable with the slang used these days. Like when he said 'thot'.

I'm just giving him the benefit of the doubt though. I can respect why some people feel a bit 'meh' about the use of the word.

Honestly guys, I think it's just because Tabitha's a Sim...like I doubt he would actually call his real-life female friends 'hoes.' Also, he does insult Dil quite a lot as well, but there really isn't a male insult that is equivalent to 'hoe' that has the same sort of history and negative connotation that has now been rendered obsolete due to memes.

I guess i'm alone with my severe dislike of slurs. The context doesn't make it that much better to me.
White people should never use racial slurs, straight people should never use homophobic slurs (i think there was a discussion recently in this forum about "queer" being ok when it's said by non-straight people, but insulting to some when used by straight people) and IMO men should maybe not use misogynistic slurs.
That's because there is a history of oppression and discrimination.
And yes, i also cringe very badly when men say bitch.

I wouldn't say i'm offended by what Dan said, because from what he says in liveshows etc, i can tell he is not a misogynist, but hearing the words still gets to me. It's just a bit disappointing hearing it from someone i consider fairly socially aware. Probably because it reminds me how casually those words are used by people who are less socially aware.

This totally got missed but, he IS 24 now (almost 25) And It could be that his hairline is receding a bit but It doesn't mean that he will completely go bald/It wont stop receding. It just happens with age... Some people get gray hairs when they are 18 =X, I have a "bald spot"(not completely bald) on one temple.


@ The Hoe talk - I don't feel bad or cringey when I hear Tabitha referred to as a hoe but that doesn't invalidate your or anyone elses feeling. If you feel like it is something that Dan should consciously stop saying, you could tell him. He might not even notice it himself.

I just assumed it was an off hand comment meant to insinuate maybe Dan as mr. science-y mcrational might have less of an open mind when it comes to discussing topics about extraterrestial life and the vast possibilities that an infinite universe implies when Phil tries to talk about it with him, with Dan defaulting to philosophical introspection and Phil posing more what if questions that skirt right around that, like with his defaulting to cyborgs immediately when Hazel tried to ask him about his thoughts on death.
(and I have to write up something more in depth for that tipsy talk video as I just watched it and man if that isn't one of my favorite collabs Phil has done, if only for the glimpse of someone other than the AP I'm already used to seeing on his channel which is just rife with details to analyze, but I think other people have already captured the spirit of everything I already meant to say.)

Actually I think Dan is the one who took it the swinger-y way and Phil (for once) didn't intend any innuendo there.

Completely off topic of anything else going on: how many gaming videos do you think they actually pre-filmed? Because I have absolutely no faith in them . They hadn't filmed anything yet last Sunday going by what Phil said in his ls, and the rest of the week was rehearsals. How much gaming could they have accomplished between his haircut on Friday (this is post-haircut right? His hair looks under control) and his flight on... Saturday? Especially when he had to, at some point in all of this, pack for 3 months worth of travel.

Dan should just kill our dreams already and film himself playing Shelter 2 because obviously Phil is never going to do it.

also it just occurred to me how weird it is they're in separate time zones; which one is getting more annoyed by texts at dumb hours

I'll admit it caught me off guard when Dan called Tabitha a hoe, and it seemed random when he did it. But in the context he did it I personally didn't find it offensive. That's just my opinion obvs.

It might bother me if a man said bitch, circumstantially. Like, it totally didn't bother me when Dan said 'ceramic bitch', but yes, it would bother me if Dan said 'stinky bitch'.

Yes to this. It really doesn't matter to me that Tabitha isn't real, though I suppose it would be worse in a real life scenario. It bothers me that he spoke in a degrading manner specifically about the female gender.

new videos recap: i am so late to the party!!!!

first to the person that asked the connection between Dan and Stephen Fry, i am not sure what it is, but Stephen Fry is the person that voiced the outro for Charlieissocoollike's channel and he has apparently supported Charlie and youtube (morally) from the start. I think he is a bit of an eccentric, saw the potential in youtube quite early and voiced that it was the future of entertainment.

Now the sims video, i liked it fine. The abduction was really funny because their reactions were priceless. Other than that, I felt it was quite short and empty? I was disappointed they didn't go to the spa not gonna lie.
Gotta give it to Dan, he really has some of the bests one liners. "fight me, you ceramic bitch" had me LOL. Also Phil singing work was nice

tipsy talk... ok. First I dislike Hazel, I liked her for two seconds when watching one TOTM once but that's gone, I can't stand her actually. But I have to say their chemistry was great. Her off-putting personality was kinda subdued here. They really seem to appreciate and be relaxed around each other which gave a really cool and pleasing vibe to the video.
Also Phil had said in a liveshow that he made a cocktail and had one glass so I knew he was not gonna be tipsy and I didn't even expect him to reveal much (because I don't believe in santa anymore).
But idk the whole thing still disappointed me. It's weird because I actually liked it quite a bit and rewatched it 3 times just because the vibes and chemistry were so good.
But I also disliked it because it made me uncomfortable with Phil's level of control over himself, his appearance on video...(not physical appearance but what he says, how is behaves etc.) Every time the conversations steared to something a bit deeper or more meaningful he brought it back to random (burn that cock seriously and its horrible noise) and jokey- superficial. And he is quite good at it so it looks seemless and unforced but it is annoying in a format that was created to do something a bit different than presenting yourself like you would usually do in your channel.
We always go crazy about Dan being a control freak for everything but Phil is no better really. And he didn't need to tell crazy secrets or anything but the constant coming back in persona/amazingphil channel guideline is tiring.

My final take on the video was that is was nice and pleasant like a mint granita but that it could have been so much more. It could have been a Grand-Marnier soufflé with a melting raspberry heart and champagne caramel coulis.
