All I can say is that brexit comment made me burst out laughing and that’s all I needed.
I enjoy the ISG series, it was okay. Loved the consent thing tbh, I think it’s good for someone with his audience to be very clear about it. I can’t have been the only one that raised an eyebrow at the “dating an internet friend” one though?
V. excited for gamingmas content! I honestly think it’s prime time to stan dnp and it’s always kept me v. active within the phandom every year.

Fuck me that was boring I genuinely had trouble keeping my eyes open at one point.. Not funny, not memorable, just bland as hell. Only thing that cracked a smile was the Brexit comment. And the cat, but I'm not gonna credit Dan for the miraculous existence of the Felidae.
Remember the first ISG when the phandom's trolling attempts were funny? And his answers too? Listen if he wants to do genuine advice so badly fine, but it does bring down the comedy of the video. Either go with advice or comedy at this point, not both. I really can't at this series anymore, but at least he didn't barf up 3 other installments within the last year so I'll deal.

I enjoyed it! It was funny and occasionally helpful, just like I'd expect from an ISG. I think I just enjoy him being snarky to his audience? And I actually love that shirt on him. I also really enjoyed the little "things are actually better" monologue at the beginning, because it's something hard to remember, but it is true, mostly. It's so hard to internalize with everything in my feeds, everyday.
I've had green tea that tasted like grass and it was GROSS. It could have been made with lawn trimmings and I would have been able to tell the difference. Usually, l like green tea, but maybe when made with matcha powder the grassiness comes through? I usually use leaves, not powder.

I actually enjoy his more serious side in this. Combined with his humour and self-deprication it's perfect. Not too preachy, not too jokey, not too self-depricating; actually wholesome as far as I'm concerned. I feel all nice watching it. Also laughed out loud too.

I've never enjoyed ISG so to no one's surprise, I found this one really boring too
The highlight for me was when we got a 3 seconds glimpse of Dan's dead bonzai.
Tbh in my mind, all the ISG videos just merge into one big dull thing that always feels very forced and repetitive. I'll probably have forgotten this one exists in 2 hours.
I agree with alittledizzy tho, we've had so much good content lately and gamingmas starts in 2 days so I don't really mind, I get that he felt the need to make a new one
right now and that ISG is probably the easiest video for him. Plus his last two videos before this one were actually great so yeah.

Eh. Why did I want him to do another one of these again? I mean... I think the time was right for it, the intro was good, there were some funny bits teasing the folks that sent in questions and vice versa, and it was an appropriate video to plug the tour at the end, but I am pretty over this series.
There weren’t really specific questions about mental health, which I feel would have really helped (though the girl feeling like a burden for her mum cooking dinner resonated with some of my familial anxiety).
It was mildly entertaining, but I feel like he breezed right through most of those emails without saying anything really helpful except various versions of “you’re valid”, “hang in there” and “consent” (which is important and he could have said much worse, especially as the girl was pretty vague just saying her bf “flirted” with her. Alright so the you’re not just there to be sexy for him is actually really good, just not actual advice) but not how to *deal* with their situations, or he went on unrelated tangents.
I think I liked his answer to the dog question the best, it reminded me a bit of PJ’s bad advice vids.
Kimship matcha is definitely more vegetal for a couple reasons. First, you are literally ingesting the ground up tea leaves, not steeping them and drinking their essence. Second, the leaves that it is made from are more fresh and less processed than the dried and sometimes roasted green tea you may have had. All of that leads to tasting more chlorophyll
I actually like matcha when made well and it was a good call to ditch the alcohol for this one. He didn’t whisk it enough and if they want to continue drinking it they should probably invest in an electric frother (it’s what we used at Teavana) but it’s not as much of a cultural ritual as the bamboo.
Also where was he sat? The white molding reminded me of the old apartment, and we haven’t seen the red chair in a long time. For a second I wondered if the background wasn’t green screened somehow (I know it’s not). Is the beige behind him a wall or one of the window treatments? It’s probably just a different angle of his filming closet, as that is the same desk, but it just felt different.

I quite liked the video. Nothing special, but watchable.
I also immediately thought about Phil's hairstyle discussion, when he talked about not dying ginger hair.
Are they going to do tour announcements in every video until the tour actually starts? Because it started to annoy me (slightly).

i don't mind the isg series at all, i would just rather have something else, but this was definitely my favorite in recent memory. i think it's good that he kept a balance of serious advice and ridiculousness-- that's kind of his channel in a nutshell. i can't imagine him going fully one way or the other and the series being enjoyable at all, but that's just me.
i don't think anything will ever top the high school musical summary from the first one in terms of trolling, but i still enjoy watching the viewers take the piss out of him and vice versa. the dog and cat pics were a welcome inclusion.
not my favorite, but i enjoyed it nonetheless.

So I wasn't looking forward to another ISG but this one made me smile and laugh more than I could have expected.
Also somehow surprised about Dan's peeing in the shower answer because I'd have thought he'd be the type of person who is grossed out by that lol. And it will always be funny how they both avoid relationship/dating anecdotes like the plague.
edit to ask if people think any of the questions are made up by Dan or do you think they're all genuine?

Well, it was ISG
Nothing special (they have never been tbh) but it was nice to just listen to him and I fpund myself a bit disappointed of how quickly the questions were over, which was a surprise to me. But maybe I'm just hungry for content, idk.
I wish for ap vid tomorrow, but would die for a phil liveshow tbh (im having a lobg and emotionally hard day tomorrow so phil time would be awesome). Any idea if either will happen or is the gamingmas the next video they'll upload?

Haven't watched yet so don't know what the question/answer was, but i remember in a past video (pretty sure collab with caspar) dan answered no to this and acted a bit grossed out by italien wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:06 pm Also somehow surprised about Dan's peeing in the shower answer because I'd have thought he'd be the type of person who is grossed out by that lol.
It was alright but definitely not my favorite ISG video. I've watched it twice to catch some things he said that I missed the first time around but I probably won't rewatch it again. Always happy to see him though!
Since Gamingmas is coming soon, I doubt he'll upload another video in 2017. As I've said before, I'm hoping for some more original content in the future so I'm not anticipating "The Top Dan Memes of 2017" (I don'think there were that many memes this year anyway).
Not sure about Phil, he might try to squeeze in another AP video before the end of the year (probably not gonna happen but I'd really like a Festive DITL 2) or just leave it as it is like he did last year. I am at least expecting a live show tomorrow!
Edit: If Phil will upload a new video, I don't think he'd do it so soon after PINOF.

I don't mind ISG, but I feel like this one was a bit bland compared to some of the previous ones. It's okay though, I wasn't expecting anything too exciting and dan himself said that his next video would be a "low-effort" one.
I was thinking that before spooky week started, they did a joint liveshow to promote it (also because phil had missed his the week before). Do you think there's a chance they will do a joint liveshow tomorrow to promote the start of gamingmas and also because dan skipped his yesterday?
I don't know how it works with liveshows during gamingmas, as I wasn't here last year. Did they do liveshows and upload videos on the same day or did they skip them? In the latter case, it would be good for them to do a joint one tomorrow, although to be honest I don't have much hope

Look, I'm one of those people who doesn't like the ISG series. They're some of the only deppy content I don't rewatch. So this wasn't my favorite video. I'm not upset - we're getting a month's worth (hopefully) of videos soon.
That being said, I'm glad he's posted something to dinof. I was afraid the channel would die during gamingmas and be totally abandoned.

People are always torn between whether they want him to be a troll or want him to serious and a voice for the people idk people are never happy. I always find it interesting how he splits the asks evenly between men and women. How strange. He must really have to search for them, even more so questions by adult men. I say this all the time, but I'll say this again, I think this would be a much better series if done more regularly, like once a month, instead of being treated like a "normal" video. It's too basic, predictable, and there's nothing new, there's not much entertainment about of it. It's a good video to click on if you're binge watching the series, and you're a casual, but it's a little meh when Dan does main channel videos so rarely.
I'm not really team quiff, nor team side fringe. I was thinking a messy full fringe would suit him better. Sorry, but I've moved on from the quiff life.

Also Japanese tea in general tends to taste more vegetal, even the loose leaf is often a really deep emerald green. Whereas many Chinese green teas have nutty, cream or floral notes and look golden green or silvery green. Again this is super general as there are so many different varieties. It would be nice if restaurants told you want kind it was beyond “green” so you could look up a description. Recently I was at a swanky restaurant with my mum and the waitress said the oolong was a type of black tea. :headdesk2:Kimship wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:23 pmThanks for clearing that up!autumnhearth wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2017 7:59 pm Kimship matcha is definitely more vegetal for a couple reasons. It really did taste like what freshly cut grass smells like.
To bring this back to
Stream of consciousness- I forgot to share that I had a dream a few nights ago that took place in a mince pie shop, that was located in an airport in Florida... as like kind of an Epcot countries themed row of restaurants. They also featured a lot of gin, but I couldn’t get a good look at the menu or get the cashier’s attention.
000dia000 it’s a hard balance to strike and I feel like I’m probably overly critical, especially as I don’t even know what I want from it. I guess bants where bants are called for and advice when it is genuinely asked for. But then again he’s not a counselor.
To be fair he did only say it conserves water but he didn't make any reaction to it being gross. I don't know why this is what stood out to me in this videowhatdoiknow wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:44 pmHaven't watched yet so don't know what the question/answer was, but i remember in a past video (pretty sure collab with caspar) dan answered no to this and acted a bit grossed out by italien wrote: Wed Nov 29, 2017 8:06 pm Also somehow surprised about Dan's peeing in the shower answer because I'd have thought he'd be the type of person who is grossed out by that lol.

Literally what everyone else has said: not great, not bad, just meh
I mean it's a video with his face and voice so I'll take it (and I had a rough day so it helped with that) but it's definitely nothing I'd wanna watch again.

Echoing pretty much everyone else with that it was an okay video, but nothing special. I wouldn't mind more serious questions and answers, but I guess that's kind of what liveshows are for (or at least have been lately, with Dan being more open about mental health, sexuality, etc etc)
Just had the time to watch the video as I have way too many homework.
Generally, I don't like ISG. I think is the most boring thing Dan could ever do and I will be happy if he stopped doing them.
I decided to watch this one to see if finally one of them was interesting enough but this one could be the worst of all. It was plain boring. It had the same jokes and the same pattern (except for the green tea, that's a change).
It's almost 10pm here, so I was struggling to open my eyes.
I really can't wait to Gamingmas! This week has been so tiring!

I liked it! Reading through some of the reactions kind of bummed me out before I could even watch it so I did a little marathon of older ones (well, just 1-4 because I don't have all day and it obviously does get repetitive) and this one was as good or even better than any past ones! He's basically given the same ratio of actual advice to sarcasm from the beginning and I sometimes (in the in-between ISG times when I don't fully remember what they are) find myself buying into the narrative that he's trying to be some kind of boring genuine advice guru, but no he's being an adorably sarcastic shit as ever who can't help tossing in some actual advice here and there. But not in a completely boring or preachy way. Like I get people being a bit bored with a consistent series where you know exactly what to expect (or maybe just more specifically a predictable series as a constant cushion between so little "new" content on his main channel, making it appear to be more frequent/repetitive than it otherwise would if he posted other things more often), but judged on its own, I thought it was a really good video. I didn't love the switch away from alcohol last time, but I guess that joke has been run into the ground by now, fine, at least the green tea was a good prop this time around instead of the plain water again (listen, small changes in a predictable/familiar format can make all the difference).
I just love Dan, and I think ISG-Dan is my second-favourite iteration of him after liveshows. Because as much as I love his storytelling/sketch videos, my general preference is the Dan who isn't constantly YELLING and OVERACTING usually AT THE SAME TIME because it STRESSES me OUT. Just be longform sarcastic and/or quippy at a camera in an "indoor voice" and I'm there. Anyway, hi everybody, my name is fancybum and I love ISG even though so many people finding it so underwhelming (always even before it gets posted) can often bleed into my own attitude about it going in, which actually kind of works in my favour because it ends with me being pleasantly surprised every time. So.. thanks! I am not underwhelmed, I didn't find it bland; it was what it always is, and what it always (or at least usually) is is consistently enjoyable! Yay! (also, congrats on the character development of his hair, because I did a double-take when I clicked on ISG 3, yikes, but also: come back earrings ilu. In the ongoing debate of Phil: quiff or fringe, my answer is: Dan with earrings. If I had to decide between only curly hair forever or only earrings forever, ooooohh idkkkk..)
Anyway, more yay! I love lamp! Bring on Gamingmas 2017: Chapped Lip Watch! I'm ready!

You made me go and take a look at ISG3 and his hair, it's... it's terrible. Also, I think we have enough names here to start a formal petition for a return of the earrings. Couldn't agree with you more there.
Re: the ISG format... I do value a more subdued Dan, but I think my bigger issue is how "meh" some of the jokes are and how each ISG gets progressively more shallow. I feel like there's a lot less genuine advice in the more recent ones and the sarcasm doesn't really make up for it because it's the kind of stuff we hear in live shows. Essentially, Dan sets a tone for his channel that I don't feel like ISG meets? So, in the end, it just feels a bit filler-y. (Which it is.)
This isn't something that I have particularly strong feelings about, at least not in content highs like we've had this year. Someone else here pointed it out earlier: If we got more frequent videos like this, I imagine there'd be less complaints. But because ISGs are generally ~the Daniel Howell video of the month~, it feels a bit... lacking in effort.
All that said, I enjoyed today's video so...
