the tumblr thing sounds really fishy to me -- as the post linked in the tweet confusedpanda embedded said, no one but the poster should get a notification about another blog liking a post. so even if the second person came up with another screenshot, they still claimed to have received a notification, which shouldn't be possible except if dan followed their blog and liked it from there. plus, it should be relatively easy to edit such a screenshot. if dan had unliked it only after several minutes or so, surely more than two people would have seen it, but if he unliked it immediately, tumblr shouldn't even show the message anymore, except for in op's activity. and if tumblr really did send out notifications, i suppose at this point more than two people would have come forward with screenshots. tbh since it's tumblr i also wouldn't discard the possibility that it was a glitch.
this is a beautiful piece of art. second installment in the series that began with dan teasing phil's poke-tongue smile and then doing it himself in the crossy road vid. i'm looking forward to the next part.
thank's you were great

It's interesting that this is the one he brings up, and he brings it up now. (I don't believe that this is the only one his grandma has ever mentioned to him over the past eight years, or she's only just now started reading the comments, or....)RiriPandaHeart2 wrote:So his grandma checks his YT comments. I have notifications on for both of their blogs, neither one of them follows me, I don't follow any phandom blogs, and Tumblr still from time to time will send a notification to my phone with "danisnotonfire seriously liked this post!" or "amazingphil gave this post some love!". I don't get one everytime they like something, I didn't get one for the art in question, but when I do get one and click on it the post will have that added part in green text about the blog I was given the notification for. There are two other blogs I get these for, one of them I definitely have notifications on for, the other I just visit a lot.

i went to have a look on his latest video the piano teacher one, didn't see any in the top comments BUT when you select newest first there are...many...many comments from literally 2 minutes ago saying 'queen of my vagina'LeftHandedism wrote:It's interesting that this is the one he brings up, and he brings it up now. is there hope of finding the original? probably not. did she read any others? because it can be much worse. i am praying she doesn't know about tumblr because that would probably cause her much more confusion and weirdness i feel quite embarrassed for him now tho in all honesty. imagine that phone call. "yeah grandma it's cool my subscribers just like to say weird stuff about their vaginas and call me queen haha so how are you?"
it's weird how these kind of comments are quite mainstream (and still weird) and yet someone from an older generation sees it and theres just...so much cringe
I get these too, but they are pretty rare(notifications) BUT if you scroll down your dashboard that's usually when the green text that says " ______ liked this post" if you follow them/have notifs etc. on i believe. might be legit, might not. maybe they're trying to get it seen by alot of people so that it'll attract enough attention that he will have to mention it in a ls or something. who knows.NoOneWantsATortoise wrote:@lurker

thanks for clearing that up, i didn't know that this could happen. it's weird that tumblr sends them out so randomly. :wtf:lishachi wrote:I get these too, but they are pretty rare(notifications) BUT if you scroll down your dashboard that's usually when the green text that says " ______ liked this post" if you follow them/have notifs etc. on i believe. might be legit, might not. maybe they're trying to get it seen by alot of people so that it'll attract enough attention that he will have to mention it in a ls or something. who knows.NoOneWantsATortoise wrote:@lurker

i think it's kinda like a "hey while you were gone this thing happened" kind of update on what's going on. i think it's ~relatively~ new? pretty sure it's only if you follow them AND have them on notifications aswell, for example I get them for dan, phil, some other blogs, but I don't get it on my dashboard from someone other than that but I still follow them. so I think the green part comes up when you have notifications on. keyword here is 'i think' feel free to correct me guyslurker wrote:thanks for clearing that up, i didn't know that this could happen. it's weird that tumblr sends them out so randomly. :wtf:lishachi wrote:I get these too, but they are pretty rare(notifications) BUT if you scroll down your dashboard that's usually when the green text that says " ______ liked this post" if you follow them/have notifs etc. on i believe. might be legit, might not. maybe they're trying to get it seen by alot of people so that it'll attract enough attention that he will have to mention it in a ls or something. who knows.NoOneWantsATortoise wrote:@lurker

sorry to take the conversation back to the liveshows thing but i find myself think about dan vs phil liveshows wise quite a lot and as a premiuns sender i think my way of view is... different in a way?
i def enjoy dan's liveshows much much more. i find dan more entertaining as a person. i also love how dan rambles and shares his opinions and go on occasional rants and his liveshows are the highlight of my week.
i love phil dearly but his liveshows never excite me, you know? i mean, i find him very calming and lovely and i do enjoy his liveshows but not as much as i enjoy dan's :/
but also i think i prefer dan's bc when i think of a liveshow i think of the premiuns i'd like to send (i brainstorm for ideas sometimes even a few days in advanced.) and sending dan premiuns is easier since he would most likely open them (i try sending things that are not as "common" he notices me quite a lot) and i try coming up with premiuns that might stir a ramble from dan.
but with phil it's almost impossible to get a premium opened since it seems as if phil likes to keep things as general as he can and mostly open very basic/ general premiums that will not require him to share too many thoughts/ opinions so for me coming up with premiuns for phil is frustrating.
i have a little experiment going on though, i'm sending them both domestic premiums to see if they'd open them (nothing shippy, i respect them.) just like stuff about cooking and cleaning around the apartment etc etc and so far dan has opened a few but phil has yet to contribute to my experiment.

I actually prefer Phil's livestreams. They're calming to me for some reason and I enjoy listening to him while doing work. Of course I love Dan's as well, and I can see why people find them more exciting but Phil's have a more positive effect on me.

Could you explain more how premiums work? I've never watched liveshows on YouNow--I've never wanted to make an account and haven't figured out if you can watch without one. Fortunately, there are plenty of other watching options these days, but that means I'm not exposed to all the messages, etc.
So, when you submit a premium, do other people see it? What does it mean for him to "open" it--does he have to open it to read it? If he reads it, does he have to respond to it? Do you pay when it's "opened" or only if it's responded to? How many premiums are there usually per liveshow? Etc.
Thanks!

That's interesting perspective, definitely. I don't watch liveshows to interact at all, I've never sent a premium and I don't talk in chat, so for me the interaction element is a non-existent factor. I like to observe them through a nice, impenetrable fourth wall. But I can imagine if the goal for a liveshow were to get one of them to talk to me - Dan's would definitely seem like a better option.dansnose wrote:s

Just wanted to add my 2 cents about the adorable post pizza nap drawing fiasco. I don't quite understand why everyone is calling it "Phan" art. It's not a picture of them being physically intimate(Which they have shown on tumblr tag videos). It's just the truth. Is there anything they don't do together? It is, at this point, their lives. It's a sweet photo and I can understand why dan liked it.
When he made the comment during the live show I went through his likes and couldn't figure out what phanart was talking about. Maybe he couldn't either lol. Heck, he may or may not know it but they elf au he liked is much shippier than than the pizza in my opinion. He doesn't like stuff for the content though, he looks at the art first I think, the quality of it.
People are always looking for clues. I wish they would just appreciate the artwork and chill.

That is an interesting perspective, dansnose. I think premiums work by only being paid for if they open them onscreen so we see them too, but they must see the contents as they can choose to decline them after they've read the message themselves, which saves us money. I often say something in the chat, usually have something to say in response to them, but I haven't felt it worth paying for. They've read out and commented on what I wrote a few rare times, Phil mostly, and, oddly, mostly when I first watched them in 2015.
Good point too, ArtDefine06. I don't remember which elf artwork he liked, but the pizza one is very cosy. Lying next to each other is very cute and close even though it's not overt I guess.

This kid, what, Dan? I mean, I'd adopt him in a heartbeat along with Cheryl Blossom, but the kid is 25
it's funny how age gaps and his vulnerabilities make us call him a kid and want to mother him (or is that part just me? I feel different towards Phil).

hello so i was curious about younow and went into a little bit of research about it, so in case anyone is wondering, here's a little overview (i apologise if this has been done before, if so ignore!)
im posting this because i was interested and didn't know the majority of this, if you did then i apologise and keep scrolling
regarding liveshows, younow, premiums, bars etc etc
so if you want to 'partner' with younow you sign up to it, this allows you to become a partner with them and earn money. so that when money comes in via the audience, it goes to the person doing the liveshow, for example dan, and gets shared between younow and that person, figures ive seen show younow takes anywhere from 40-60% of the money. (but im not entirely sure of this)
- 'top fans' are who have given the most amount of bars that session. (i did not know this)
- 'bars' are anywhere from 99p to £49.99 (cheapest is 90 bars, most expensive is 6,500 bars)
the bars then give you the oppurtunity to give:
- 'likes' help the broadcaster trend
- 'fan mail' ( or 'premium messages') that they can accept that in turn lets you basically direct message them
- 'tip jar' which is direct money to the partners
i assume that if a 'fan' then buys bars to send a premium message, and it doesn't get read, that's then their money gone. i guess it's a bit of a gamble considering that they could easily ignore the message but it depends on what the contents of the message are. i can only assume they get money once they accept each message too.(?)
then the broadcaster gets a overview at the end of their session.
(image under spoiler as quite big - overview broadcasters get)
(in case you were wondering
)
obviously there is no set amount of money gained from the shows as it depends every time, but from what i've read it can be in the thousands, depending on how popular you are.
i assume that the 'if you're from youtuber/tumblr/etc come join on younow' is for more viewer engagement, to trend, more likely to get bars etc but that's an assumption.
so these shows are more important than i thought. it all depends on viewer engagement, your following, how much people like you and want to talk to you. crazy really. sorry for long post but hope this was kind of interesting.

LeftHandedism premiums are basically messages you can send by using bars (that you purchase with real money) and they are messages dan and phil would see in a different section than the regular chat and they can ignore, reject or open them. when/ if they open them your message will be displayed on top of the chat feed in blue
example:
if they reject/ ignore you get your bars back but if they open it younow charge you for the amount of bar it cost to send that premium.
alittledizzy i'm not sure why the interaction element of sending premiums became such a big deal for me but i guess at the end of the day it makes me incredibly happy when dan or phil open mine you know? i think the fact they know ~i exist~ in a way, makes me happy since i will most likely never get to meet them and this is the most i could get (plus i live for how dan says my name)
but also, i love sending premiums i know will be "worth the money" in a way? so i try to ask things i know i'd like to hear the answer to i think my best premium was the "does phil usually help you film?" from a few weeks ago? i liked dan's answer to that one!
more rambling under the cut~
so yeah, i'm going to keep sending "domestic" premiums and hope they get opened because i really love and enjoy hearing and getting those glimpses onto their lives and dynamic
example:

The working title is "Where's Phil's Video, I'm Bored"
Does anyone want to guess what it's about and what prop he needed? I'm guessing candlestick in the library- wait, wrong game. I don't think it's a wig, but a costume of some kind. He said it's to do with him being a fail of a human? He already has a doctor costume.. I can't think of any other profession specific costumes or where he might have embarrassed himself recently without Dan (since Dan said Phil told him about it, which suggests Dan wasn't there). So my vague guess is an incident in a shop with a police officer. Lol. Did I mention I was bored?
Thanks and have a great day! Oil me

Kind of want to see everyone speculate but can't really think myself. Bored and currently rewatching old Phil videos anxiously waiting for a notification.

I thought perhaps a childhood/school story. I mean, might be a little too close in nature to Dan's last video but Phil went through a phase of using childhood/awkward teenage stuff for video ideas. I'll go ahead and say my totally random baseless guess: awkward story involving teenage Phil and his fursuit mascot outfit, which he needed to recreate and use as an excuse to add to their furry prop collection.fancybum wrote:Does anyone want to guess what it's about and what prop he needed? I hope phil will show us new merch #spon. Haha. Otherwise, I also would like phil to do candle haul but since he is waiting for props, that's probably not what it's going to be. I hope it's something funny about going to the dentist or something.
