that's kinda common, consider "joke gifts." that's a pretty popular thing to get a friend, it's like ironically getting them something they wouldn't actually like as a joke. I'm pretty sure that for there is a real divide between their youtube personalities and who they really are. IDK, I think play pretty close to who they are irl. The BBC show and the ls are unedited, so it would be hard to remain in character 100% of the time (if they were "in character.") Same with their collabs: would be difficult to play something you aren't.
